I've been messing around with the idea a bit and done a bit of prototyping. Main motivation for me at the moment is just to learn but it's always nice if the product of your work is in some way usable for others.
Running our own chan would potentially present a load of issues, low population, dealing with traffic and hosting, security threats, admins (me) having everyone's IP, administrating without being biased and banning users we don't like, legality issues with illegal material being upload and some other stuff no doubt.

It could be nice as a small scale thing, start it off as /éire/, but on its own website. It's not like we regularly interact with the rest of 4chan much anyways. Also give Lux a free pass if you go through with it.
I'm still not sure how I feel about it, maybe we could have a trial period and if we don't like it after a week we abandon it.

>admins (me) having everyone's IP
That's not much of an issue in the age of dynamic IP's.

>administrating without being biased and banning users we don't like
That's certainly an issue. Since there would likely be such a low population we could make it so that someone's ban needs to be approved by three moderators before it takes affect.

>legality issues with illegal material being upload
You would need an insta-ban button just in case someone was spamming CP or some shit and no one else was around, and in order for that not to be abused have a ban log where you can review later and see if one of us was out of line.

>It would only ever be a small scale pet project
If nothing else I could use my OC skills to design some banners. Is "Éireboards" the name you're sticking with?

It's a good concept, stops us getting raided by Finnish bullies.

>What if I discovered Froggy was actually from Dublin?
I made a rather lengthy post coming up with that theory months ago, that he's just a really self-hating dub. I was annoyed since he conveniently ignored it and the only reply I got was Jaggy(I think) telling me that in this country people are innocent until proven dub.

>I'd be happy to call it whatever most people want
I kinda prefer the sound of Éireboards to Éirechan, I dunno we should ask for suggestions.

>Would be funny if we tried to steal the boards.ie name in some way though
I'd be worried they'd just get annoyed and try raiding us.

>Added to the ideas list
4chan banners are 300x100 if you want to use those dimensions.
I'm still annoyed since I made these two banners for that 4chan banner contest last year, before I read the fine print that they wanted different dimension. Had to redo both of them. This one at least got a vote, to think what life would be like if I won that pass.

That's fair enough. We may want to tone down the whole Cork thing. If he doesn't want us saying he could just ask, we are fairly reasonable people.
At this stage though it's a bit like Gerry Adams, everyone assumes he is from Cork but he doesn't really confirm or deny it.

This was the original image I used. I used it since the vectory look of it matched the aesthetic of your images without me having to learn how2vector. I'm not nearly good enough to draw this face.

>Like so?
Personally I preferred the yellow, but I'm saving both anyway. I liked how you had Nico's first image with a green background and the second with a red, I'm considering making Yui's background white to go along with this pattern but then I think it would look bad compared to a "proper" colour. To be fair there was kind of an atmosphere around the election. We all wanted Trump to win, in essence "for the lulz". The fun of seeing everyone get bent out of shape about him far surpassed any sense of reality. Now that the election's over I can see why you'd be confused.

>>1955887
During the election she was pretty cold and snakelike. There was stuff like her laughing about killing Gaddafi and sentencing Libya to years of political instability and pretty much everything she said sounded like it was written by a team beforehand. Also as I said before, it was really, really funny to see Trump winning. I certainly wouldn't like someone like Trump running Ireland but from a distance it's amusing.

Okay, this I've definitely told you twice before. Remember "the darker sequel to Obama's presidency"? She's also in the pocket of big business, was responsible for some of the biggest geopolitical blunders of the Obama presidency, and seemed to have no concrete plans for the economy other than "letting Bill handle that".

In addition, she just didn't seem like a very trustworthy person. She has a serious propensity for telling lies, a reputation as a "warhawk", pandered to just about every demographic on the left (this is personal bias admittedly), and just came across as a typical sleazy politician in a pants suit. And at least Trump is entertaining - Clinton's would have been boring at best and diabolical at worst.

I did all the lines either by hand or holding shift to make a straight line for a bit, then making another straight line at a slightly different angle. >from a distance it's amusing

So it's fine and amusing to let the US be in turmoil but not poor old Libya? Feel like it would be the other way around for most people.
And it's questionable as to just how far away he is exactly. I know Froggy has said he doesn't believe he will affect anything but if you compare his goals, whether they will be realised or not, to those of Clinton you'd have to say his are potentially more negative for us. Namely I'm talkng about corporate taxation, luring American companies home and climate change action. We've already seen he has gone ahead with his climate change plans, which aren't good.
Plus I believe, and ye can disagree, that he would have liked, at the time of his election at least, for the EU to change into something else entirely or dissolve. And he is best friends with Nigel who isn't exactly our friend and don't forget the "special relationship" with the UK.

There's a difference in scale too, Trump's presidency has so far only brought some riots, as opposed to Clinton's involvement in Libya which has split the country into three warring groups. It's one of the causes of the refugee crisis.

As for the EU stuff, I can't remember my exact opinions but I think I wanted Britain to leave the EU just because it would turn them into an enemy for Europe. This means the EU will take the side against England in things like the north or Scottish independence. I've always been supportive of Ireland in the EU just so we're clear.

Reasons lads, finally. You never gave these to me before (at least I'm fairly certain you didn't).

>in the pocket of big business
Well that may be fairly valid, I suppose. Trump doesn't need big business to get elected as he already has a lot of money. Could Trump himself be labelled as big business though? A lot of people questioned whether he would take policy decisions that would aid his businesses, though I don't really buy into that very much.

>responsible for some of the biggest geopolitical blunders of the Obama presidency
Don't keep myself informed enough about these things so I won't try and debate them. Do you Trump could cause worse geopolitical issues? The Korea thing wasn't exactly encouraging stuff.

>seemed to have no concrete plans for the economy other than "letting Bill handle that"
Do you think people would be better off under a Republican government and Trump then? Should they get rid of Obamacare?

>darker sequel to Obama's presidency
Would you consider the Obama presidency a bad one for us?

Finally, the reasons you gave me don't suggest "doing it for the lulz" (which is nice to see), so would you still consider Trump, now that he has been elected the most suitable and best of the two candidates for the job?

Obama wasn't fairing much better with North Korea in his soft touch approach. I don't know if it's directly related, but since Trump was elected, China has started to take a somewhat harder stance on NK.

>Do you think people would be better off under a Republican government and Trump then?
Hard to say.

>Should they get rid of Obamacare?
Obamacare is a very complex issue, and is neither as fantastic or atrocious as either side claim it to be (at least from what I've read).

>Would you consider the Obama presidency a bad one for us?
No, but the Trump presidency hasn't been bad for us either yet.

>Finally, the reasons you gave me don't suggest "doing it for the lulz"
I'd be lying if I said that the "lulz" weren't a seriously enjoyable bonus of supporting Trump during the election campaign.

I dunno. Give Hillary 4 years in office after Trump and then we'll compare.

>>1956316
>The Korea thing wasn't exactly encouraging stuff
If I'm perfectly honest I'm fucking sick of North Korea and would rather they get dealt with before they make proper working nukes. I don't see them easing down either since the young Kim is quite fierce and ambitious. I don't think there's much chance of a revolution peacefully bring them to democracy since he would very likely brutally crush it.

>Should they get rid of Obamacare?
There are some problems with it that need to be addressed. One issue is that any employer that has more than 30 employees has to pay for all their health insurance. This means a lot of small businesses and farms were forced to cut their employees down to 29 because paying for more than 30 peoples' health insurance would bankrupt them, especially the ones that can't even pay for their own insurance. If you get the chance watch the debate between Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders, Cruz fucking destroyed him and all of his arguments about his economic plans while Bernie screeched at a hairdresser for not being able to pay for dozens of peoples insurance.

>Would you consider the Obama presidency a bad one for us?
It seemed bright at the time compared to Bush but looking back he was still fucking in the middle east. He wasn't bad really but not nearly as good as he was hyped up to be. In the end I think he'll be a footnote of "the first black president" and not much else in history.

America owns a good chunk of the world's media after all. It's not so much the issue of Libyans dying but the effects it's had. As Gaddafi said he was the bulwark keeping refugees pouring into Europe and he's been proven right.

>Trump presidency hasn't been bad for us either yet
Well apart from the climate accord. That is pretty bad is it not? So many diverse countries can agree on something but the poor old US of A is being bullied and made to do more than it's fair share (because they are bigger pollluters per person than most countries, even developed ones).
But as I said look at the aims and campaign promises of each candidate. I beieve Clinton would have been more of the same, which would have been fine for us but Trump could result in us losing some companies. May be very unlikely but it is still a goal of his.
Simply put he is more of a traditional nationalist than Clinton, and nationalists don't tend to be very good for many nations outside of their own country.

>Hard to say
Do you think income inequality would be reduced more under a Democratic government or a Republican one led by a millionaire/billionaire? I don't and statistics for past Republican administrations certainly wouldn't support the theory.

No that's only a bad meme that pharmaceutical companies and doctors push to cover their asses. You can take multiple medications at the same time with alcohol. It doesn't matter unless it's something like benzodiazepines but even then if you take a bit of xanax/valium and a couple cans its not going to kill you, just make you more hazier.
Shops and people shit themselves if they think you're going to drink alcohol and take 2 paracetamol, when in reality is completely harmless to a healthy person.
Don't believe their lies.
I just took 4 different meds with my alcohol, and often I'd take more i.e a paracetamol for a headache while drinking or a valium and its fine.

I had a friend in secondary school who started crying when I told her boyfriend it was fine to take 2 paracetamol for a headache while we were drinking beer. She legit thought it would end his life.
People are stupid as fuck.
I'd only be concerned after about 8 paracetamol which is 8grams.
Go look at the medication list some old people are on, a lot of them are on 10+ different medications including paracetamol every 4 hours and stronger stuff. It's fine.

It's not time wasted if you enjoyed it, and more importantly if other people enjoyed it. It's like an investment, you're already spending time on /éire/ and contributing OC makes it a better place so you'll surely enjoy it more. Especially if it causes others to contribute OC of their own.

The thing about quitting a job is it takes immense effort and time to get another job or to move into another area of work.
If I quit my job in the morning there's no way I'd be able to just land a job with similar pay without putting in months upon months of work, applications, brushing up on stuff. It would also be a huge financial strain.
There's no way to win unless you're very lucky to land an acommodating position where you can come and go freely from a workplace, but this only tends to happen in places like bars or places where you know the managers.
I don't particularly have a passion for anything either. I used to be interested in my job but now I've lost all of that. It's okay I guess but no matter what the misery of being a wageslave catches up on you even if you're job is interesting.
I guess it's a lot easier for those of you who have degrees in huge fields like I.T and can just jump ship onto another big tech corporation or even a small one. You're lucky that way.
What a horrible life we live.

>How about this, can you imagine a job where you could realistically be happy in?
Not one that's realistically attainable, no. As I've said before, I'm not lazy - I used to aspire to being a productive member of society. But now I just resent every minute that I'm required to be at work, and it looms over me during the weekends and evenings. My job isn't even THAT bad - I just don't derive any enjoyment or fulfillment from it.

My job was that bad at least so I can always justify leaving it in the knowledge that another job would probably be better. Sounds like your situation is different.

I started getting that in primary school. It's stuck with me since. Just the thought of being forced to be somewhere miserable with no compensation.

>I just don't derive any enjoyment or fulfillment from it
That's how it is for most people. Being a codemonkey or whatever it is you do is rarely something people love. Trying to find enjoyment in your career is pointless since there's not much you can do to make it your dream job. You'd need to derive enjoyment from something outside work, but you hate socialising and we've been over your hobbies already.
In the end this is all on you. There's only so much advice we can give you.
