Because handguns are illegal here apart from pistol clubs, ownership is hard as you need special safes, licenses and shit.

rifles are limited to small mags, no auto, only bolt action and semi auto and anything military style is banned except under a certain license.

1. .22s are lethal and have killed MANY people.
2. Assassins and covert agents used .22 cal. rounds for many years. In combat large caliber rounds and "knock down" or stopping power are very important, but covert agents who want someone dead do not need to kill them instantly, as long as the target dies. .22 bullets often enter but do not have the force to leave, so they bounce around inside the body cavity, doing further damage.
3. The rounds are very small and easy to conceal.
4. Pistols for these rounds are likewise small and easy to conceal.
5. .22s are relatively quiet without modification.
6. They can be made much quieter (so called "silenced") very easily. Put simply, there are two sounds to a rifle shot, the "pop" and the "crack". The pop is the gas emitted as the bullet leaves the barrel and the crack is the sound of the bullet breaking the sound barrier. The pop can be reduced using material at the end of the barrel which absorbs some of the sound. Subsonic rounds can be purchased which prevent the crack since they travel at speeds below the sound barrier.

Bottom line: Each size and type of ammunition is good for a particular purpose. Like tools in a tool box. To hammer a nail use a standard hammers, to break concrete use a sledge hammer, to put a brad in a wall to hang a picture, use something smaller.

In the same way some rounds are better for stopping power but are larger and harder to conceal and you cannot carry as many rounds. Some rounds are better for long range shooting. The .22 is very small, easy to conceal and quiet, but still deadly.

There's no best pistol. I recommend renting some at a range and trying them out before buying. >>
>>744335255

Those little bitches are extremely accurate.

The only down side is that the recoil spring is 'extremely' tight and they rack like of son of a bitch. But who cares of you have to pull it out to cream a nigger...

Only 7 rounds... But if you need more than that you are probably hosed....

It's also 'all stainless steel which is supper important' for a carry every day gun that you don't want to worry at all about...

I just drop mine in my pocket every morning...

I've been in a few situations w/ multiple threats. So far I've managed to defuse them, but I don't care how good you are, there is a really good chance of getting fucked up badly w/ 4 or 5 opponents. My lack of paranoia must be linked to where I live. Low crime rate, guns hard to come by, even for bad people. Almost all shootings happen between a gang shooting another gang.
House has been broken into once when i was home, they hit when i was naked and in the shower, gun would have been no help.
Been mugged three times as well, better to just throw my wallet at them and get new cards rather than live with the guilt of endings someones life, or missing and pissing them off. Also a gun is pretty useless if you're struck from behind, as I was and as most muggings go where I live

Still don't need a gun to protect myself or my family. Only thing that will change my opinion on that is the world falling into anarchy.

I've been a NRA member for 30 years. I've voted in elections and debated policy w/ some of the people running for office. You have no clue about the culture of gun owners. They represent us and it pisses the antis off to no end. Both of which is a good thing.

>clearly has ZERO experience in the medical industry

The NRA used political connections to make these studies ILLEGAL. Doctors are not even allowed to ask if patients own guns, and the data on gun killings has been intentionally suppressed for years.

The only studies that the NRA-controlled crime research is ALLOWED to do are ones that "won't harm sales of guns and ammo."
>>
>>744340499
No, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, NSSF, represents the shooting/hunting/gun manufacturing industry.
The NRA represents gun owning members who pay membership dues through pushing back at gun restrictive legislation at the state and federal levels. However, they pick and chose their fights, and up until the 70s, we very much about "common sense" gun control - now, they are dialing back on that a lot because they helped give away so much.
>>
>>744340499
Not true

They also use that money to lobby to try to ban/keep banned the import of cheap military surplus. If not for Clinton and the NRA, you could still get $100 SKSes

Yet no one has risen up and formed a militia against the government in almost 200 years, despite countless claims the government has become tyrannical. Under 9,000 people a year are killed via firearm homicide in the US.
Out of 323,100,000 people.
Under 9,000 for a population of 323.1 million. Let that sink in a while.
More people die from smoking yearly - 480,000 to be exact. 5233% more people die from smoking that gun violence.
Guns are not a problem - politicians with agendas are.

Doctors can't teach me anything about guns. It's outside their field of expertise, and I have zero confidence in medical confidentiality w/ computerized records and the push for single payer healthcare. >>
>>744342247

Depends on the spring, and what it is made from. Lower quality materials or shoddy workmanship in cheaper things can increase the chances of the spring getting borked up by being constantly compressed

Hmmm. Again, can you name one time it's happened? One? Carrying a gun is a pain in the ass. They're heavy, and bulky. Every single person I know who carries gets training. With training you learn to evaluate situations and they're not as hectic. Most of the time the answer is to find a spot to hide or get away.

>>744342985
Not really - I've tested out cheap and better quality springs, and other than some lessened life out of the cheaper ones (materials not as good), leaving them compressed really isn't an issue.
Like I said, wear from use - repeated compression and release is what does them in.
That being said - get better springs for the life of mags, and get a good dry lube for the follower. It'll help stave off feeding issues for longer. And clean them once in a while.

I'm happy with my 9mm or .380ACP (which I admit, was a bit of a mistake for the .380ACP - didn't realize ammo cost would be that much higher than 9mm).

Yeah. 380 has typically run about 2* 9x19. It's amazing what you pay for a cartridge which is 2mm shorter.

Why all the hate for .40 and 10mm in this thread? I have a blast with those rds
>>
>>744343814
10mm's big use is typically large game hunting or defense - like bears.
Most people don't carry a 10mm for EDC, they do a more reasonable caliber - .45ACP or 9mm usually.
Now, I can see if you live in Alaska or maybe Maine this would be an ideal gun for you, but, overall the lower 48 can get away with the standard calibers because we don't have to worry about 600+lb of muscle tearing it's way toward us at over 30 miles per hour with the sheer intent to eat us.
>>
>>744344332

Nothing to hate on the 10mm, but they don't call it the 40 Short and Weak for nothing. Who doesn't like lower ammo capacity, worse recoil characteristics, and a gun that was based on 9mm and is more likely to blow up w/ an overstressed 40?
