computer science is 90% math (at least in my country) political stuff, language, archaeology is 'uncool' but important

Probably supports homos in the military
>>
Clearly made by a privileged white male. The upper tiers are dominated by angry white men. So biased.
>>
>>732278684
>computer science is 90% math
"Math, to you, yes. Math to a physicist, like integration in the complex plane, fourier transforms, taylor polynomials, etc - no. I think he means real math, not adding some numbers together.

No really accurate. I majored in philosophy (shit tier apparently) then went to law school and became a lawyer (top tier).

How is this measured? Studying philosophy is useless if you want a job in philosophy, but it will elevate you far above what passes for the human race these days

People think that philosophy is unimportant, while it's one of the founding basis for logical thinking, and therefore, science. Good philosophy is what made western civilization ahead of all others civilizations. Philosophy is what defines our beliefs and the way people think or act. It explains why people do what they do.

>inb4 shit tier
>majored in medicine

Im enrolling in electrical and computer engeneering this year. Still gotta decide wether i want the computer programming stuff or the energetics. What tier is that? basically the hardest and most respectable college in my country

my major is EHC (emergency preparedness, homeland security & cyber security) how does that rate on the scale?
>>
>>732282889
philosophy explains NOTHING. I took a 2 year course because i had to. Its a fucking bullshit science, and all you can do with it is teach . Teach why? So the your students could one day teach? Why? so Their students could teach one day? Do you see where this is going? Where is the advancement and where can you use the knowledge in real life? Its the most bullshit science of them all,i fucking hate it,its useless. Why should i give two shit about what a dude said hundreds of years ago,and how it countrs what another guy said, while both guys have no proof of their theses. Fuck philosophy literally

>>732277802
>accurate

no, not really....

Like all fields, if you can find an 'angle' in the industry to play to your advantage, doesn't matter what "tier" is it, anything can be lucrative.

Sure, what is considered "god-tier" increases odds of career success, while "Shit-tier" is harder to achieve. But what the pic fails to factor in is "happiness".

Who do you think is happier in their lives? A Lawyer, who sacrifices much of his personal life to win the 'big court battles', and the big paying retainers? Or the humble English teacher making a fraction of what the lawyer makes, probably published a short-story or two, working on a novel, has a family (happy), plays jazz at a friend's club, not for money, but for his friendship, and his love of the "Shit-tier" life?

....
>>
>>732284023
Aside from psychology, yeah.

>>732284132
Someone from /sci/ made this. This should also explain why CS is so low.

this list is old as dick, it needs an update

Nowadays philsophy major colleges are filled with people who take sides and want only to teach their views, in a very partial way. It may not be interesting to have a major in philosophy but it's certainly important in life to study on your own. Philosophy is what shaped the west. Think about the enlightment years. There are other philosophies that I don't agree with, but still had a heavy influnce in the world, such as socialism, anarchism. There are other examples such as positivism. You may not like it, but it exercize is weight on the world. Think about feminism, alt+right, atheism, who are in their own way some kind of philosophy
>>
>>732281438
Yeah to a small degree. Your engineering and maths doesn't scratch the surface of proper engineering mathematics

What exactly made Western civilization better than other civilizations? China had a philosophical (ethical) and political system worked out in the 3rd century BC that made it the most powerful country in the world for over two thousand years. European philosophy made several significant and noteworthy steps forward in the 17th century while it was becoming the new major world power, yet now philosophy scholars stumble around in minutae and abstractions, while Western civilization declines around them. You think learning this stuff at college, with no feasable chance of making a dent in the world of thought or making anything useful of it, is really a wise course of action.

I am enrolled for aerospace engineering for first year of school. Is this a stupid career path?

it's not stupid, but it's insanely competitive
>>
>>732285055
Would it be wise to major in electrical/mech to have other career choices? My biggest fear is not being marketable if I don't get an aerospace job
>>
>>732284746
Some of your questioning is answered in here >>732284545

Anyhow, it's plain to see that the west flourished over other civilizations in every field: economics, astronomy, technology, ethics, medicine, navigation. I could give an explanation in any of this, but as you mentioned ethics, let me elaborate on that. Europe for instance was the first continent to be free of slavery, ahead of any other country. Of course it had it's own ethical dillemas, but this shows how ahead it was from the rest. The juridical system emerged in ancient rome and greece. The early signs of democracy too
>>
>>732282167
id say it would fall under law
>>
>>732285326
it'd be great as a minor or a concentration for aerospace, considering the future = drone flight
>>
This list was probably made by someone trying to justify doing maths at a shit uni.
