Looking for a conceal carry handgun. Currently decided on the Ruger LCR .357 thoughts? Think anything else is better? Any opinions helpful
>>
Go ask /k/ they know more about that topic
>>
>>726767617
Uh don't cc a 357? Fucking newfag
>>
>>726768568
Also as a note to my previous post, don't get a revolver as a first cc. The pull is usually way heavier than you'd want in any emergency as a new carrier and also only 6 shots max.benefits are concealability and reliability, but I'd take a striker any day over revolver for CC
>>
>>726768776
Reason I say don't go revolver or heavy pull for CC is that your adrenaline is already going to be high in a situation that causes you to draw so the likelihood of getting shots on target with 8 or 9 lb pulls is next to zero
>>
Solid choice if you want a revolver.
>>
>>726768894
Thats not accurate.
>>
22 mag
>>
>>726767617
Go ask >>>/k/ they live for this
>>
>>726769089
Uh, I've been in high stress situations and while not involving drawing I know I would have trouble putting shots on target with a revolver and I've been going to the range since I was like 8.
>>
>>726767617
Not much point in .357 out of a snub unless you like excessive report and flash. Just as well run .38's out of it.
>>
my personal carry weapon is a g19 and id recommend it to anyone for a first time cc weapon
>>
Before getting a revolver be sure to check your local laws. My state doesn't allow carry with one in the camber, meaning you would need an empty cylinder in line with the barrel. This then makes revolvers pretty irrelevant for me.

If you're going for a revolver, I'd recommend a Ruger GP100, 6 inch barrel preferably.

That's what I carry.
>>
>>726769282
Maybe you are just s horrible shot.
>>
>>726769413
Not really. Maybe you just have no clue what adrenaline does to people. Fucking shit head
>>
>>726769366
An excellent choice, once your assailant sees you pull this out, he will literally fall over laughing and then you might have a chance to shoot him.
>>
>>726769362
What state is that?
>>
>>726769413
Give an inexperienced shooter a revolver to carry and a 357 no less and good fucking luck.
>>
>>726767617
Longer barrel and .357 is nice. Otherwise .40 s&w, or even 10mm for a real all around type of round.
>>
>>726767617

.357 Magnum is very bad out of short barrels. That's just what the cartridge is. Out of longer barrels it's very good, but the short barrel saps almost all of its strength.

Although not as common .327 Magnum is a better choice for a purely cc revolver. You also get an extra round, so 6 in a compact frame, because the round is physically skinnier.
>>
>>726769152
You must be someone's wife.
>>
>>726769089
>>726769413
I'm not that guy but take any carry class and they'll all tell you the same thing regarding the adrenaline. Even trained police officers miss a large percentage of their shots.

One advantage to a concealed hammer revolver is that you can fire it through your coat pocket without having to pull it out. It will probably set your pocket on fire but it is faster than drawing. Plus you can walk around in public pointing it at people and they won't know it.

Go look at an M&P shield 9mm. It's easy to conceal but a great shooting gun. If you have normal sized or large hands you'll want the extended magazines.
>>
>>726769598
You just stick to your 22 and let the men keep talking.
>>
you also should check your state laws also if you get licensed for a revolver you cant carry a semi auto if you decide to get one in the future
>>

Its not Chicago. I'm in Chicago. No registration, shall issue, permit isn't weapon specific, absolute preemption of local handgun regulations. I mean, the permit is expensive to get, but from there its smooth sailing.

>>726769877
First time carry a Sig P250. Affordable and reliable, plus you can get it chambered in 9mm .40s&w or .45acp. I got a .40 and just recently traded up to a Sig 1911 but the P250 is still a great range gun
>>
>>726767617
How much experience do you have with handguns? A revolver is not a good idea for a cc and neither is .357. I'd only go for it if you have if you have a lot of experience with revolvers and higher caliber handguns
>>
>>726771236
I think the argument for revolver is that it's practically guaranteed to work, even though capacity is shit.
>>
>>726769965
Sig P250 is around the same price and you can feel the better build quality even as a cc noob as soon as you pick it up

Fair enough, but they're bulkier and less user friendly. Glocks are a pretty much guarantee to work too, and they're easier to handle as well as conceal

>>726771420
I'm actually fairly right-wing. True 2A supporter. Just funny thinking how much the general public would shit knowing bunch of /b/ros are carrying.. considering the crazed shit that is posted hahaha.
>>
>>726770805
Agree but a .40 in the hands of a less experienced shooter will not be as effective

>>726771230

Never had any issue with my striker fired Cc and I'm 2000+ rounds deep in it. There was no break in period or anything.

It's about doing your homework. And revolvers aren't impervious to malfunctions.

>>726770969
Not another fucking cuck thread.

>>726772130
I may be tainted, having learned on a .357 with a six inch barrel at the age of 10. I always go a little high, carry a 10mm at the moment seeing as its the largest caliber I can conceal comfortably aside from a .45. Fell in love with the cartridge first time I fired it.

>>
I have a .357 for cc and I really regret it. From my experience, .357 out of a 2 inch barrel is hard to control as far as recoil goes, is just loud as fuck so you wont want to hit the range as much, and the short barrel of a cc handgun robs the .357 of a lot of it's velocity.
That being said, if you're dead set on it, go for it. A lot of people shit on the small capacity. I think in most cases your average person gets into, six shots in enough to get your point across. Seconds, just run .38 special through it. It's damn cheaper, not such a bitch on the wrist, and wont make you go deaf without hearing protection.

OP here. Yes, I have had experience with various types of firearms since around 8. Just now getting cc because previous occupation/location restricted it. you don't even need the subcompact glock for good concealment. I'm a manlet (5"7" and 125 pounds) and my glock 19 is extremely conealed. The holster makes a difference. I have the Bravo Concealment DOS Torsion and i love it

Rand Paul? A republican? literally has said he identifies as a constitutional conservative? Are you sure you're a lib?
>>
>>726775638
are you retarded?
in an actual draw situation you aren't going to bother to cock the hammer for SA.
the reason for the DAO is to reduce the incidence of your shirt or something catching on the draw.

LCR is fine for CCW OP. it has a hell of a kick due to being so light (run through 2 boxes at the range an youll be somewhat sore) but just train yourself and realize most civilian "firefights" end after 1-2 rounds.

>>726775928
The heavier the trigger pull, the more difficult it is to shoot accurately. It can be done, but it takes a lot of concentration. Which is hard to do in the fraction of a second that will be required of you to defend your life.

Even with nerves of steel, what's the sense of adding that complication when your life is on the line? For some exaggerated sense of reliability? And at the cost of significantly less magazine capacity?

>Protip: if semi autos were so unreliable, then why would almost all of the police and militaries around the world use them?

Nothing wrong with a Mak, slav trash of course, but they work and take a beating. easy to conceal, relatively cheap. the only knock against them is the 9mm kurz round. although theres a handful out there in .380
>>
>>726767617
I've got the LCR in .38. Kicks like a bitch due to its light weight polymer frame and hella long trigger pull.
>>
>>726779454
If someone bastardized and produced one in 9mm I'd buy it in a heart beat. But there's really no demand for it in the single stacked 9mm saturated American gun market. Still. A boy can dream...
>>
>>726779861
>I've got the LCR in .38. Kicks like a bitch due to its light weight polymer frame and hella long trigger pull.
But if you need it for self defense, you won't even feel the recoil.
>>
>>726767617
Try before you buy. I have a very similar S&W and wish I'd played with it more before buying. My fingers are too long and it pinches the end of my finger behind the trigger unless I'm careful how I grip it.
>>
pick up the Ruger LC-9, higher capacity, easier trigger pull and comes in a striker model, so no hammer to get caught on clothing, etc. I swear by mine.
>>
>>726780919
But you can fire a revolver without ever taking it out of your pocket.
>>
>>726769362
That would make the case for a revolver, da or da/SA revolvers don't keep a cylinder in line with the chamber at all time. IIRC a DA trigger aligns with chamber up pulling, fires, then half steps past alignment upon release.
>>
>>726770414
Not exactly, how is that class action lawsuit against their "secret committee " going? I remember that being the biggest barrier to entry, besides the almost $2k in licensing and classes.
>>
>>726767617
I have the same gun for CC. Only complaint is that the front sight insert blew out when I was shooting .357s through it.
>>
>>726770969
CCI stingers actually get 16" in gel coming out of a pistol because the velocity is too low for the hollow point to open up. There are several videos documenting this.
>>
The LCP .380 is pretty sexy
>>
>>726772744
They really aren't though, some of that swinging the cylinder bullshit newer owners do can make the timing get out of sync. And internally, revolvers can be surprisingly complex

Used to sell these. (Gander mountain). Softest trigger pull of any revolver. Also very nice hogue grip. Also a big selling point to the .357 is that you can also shoot .38 SPC. It's like 2 revolvers for one. It's just awkward to carry.. sold it mostly to women because they'd keep it in their purse.

I like the M&P Shields. Glock 19 or 26 is alright, too. Depends on how much you're trying to spend. Ruger makes some alright guns, but nothing special. I prefer semi autos over revolvers, personally. Most people do.
>>
>>726770044

Texas has this shit, as well. Qualify on a semi-auto if you want to carry both types of guns, but if you qualify with a revolver you can only CC a revolver (this might have changed with the new OC laws, but I'm not sure).
>>
>>726780681
But if you need it for self defense you're going to need to shoot it ALOT to be skilled at using it. You kids just think you can go buy a firearm and automatically be skilled enough to hit a target in a high stress situation? Let alone get it out of concealment quick enough to even have a possible chance with it? GTFO retard.

You really should carry a gun to defend against those negroes and ISIS guys you're bound to run into in your podunk hick town in middle Texas or Iowa. We all know that's where the terrorists go to recruit for their ultimate goal of destroying the statue of Mayor Asshole that was put up in the town square of Billings, Montana.

People who carry a gun are delusional dipshits. If you use that gun and you're not a policeman, you're probably going to jail. That's how the legal system works.

I get it, that hard steel placed close to your crotch really makes you feel much more important than your 44 year old high school football coach did. Hell, I'd get turned on if you rubbed up against me when I'm on way to my high paying white color job in a blue state while you strut and prance and then go home dreaming of your next upgrade to your pickup truck while lamenting your wife who put on 80lbs since you got married.

So yeah, get that concealed carry and walk around looking for people to do you wrong. Enjoy your court hearings and your fat wife.

Man this thread is full of cringe conceal carry guns.

Mine is a 2nd gen. Remington R51 9mm. It isnt so small it's laughable but it isn't so big that its uncomfortable.

You don't need a fun that you carry in your pocket. Your pocket is a hazard. In an intense situation you don't want to be fiddling with your hand in your pocket nor do you want it to get caught on the cloth in your pants.

Buy a midsize conceal carry and a conceal holster.

You can buy an r51 for 300 to 400$ and at least it's practical.
Plus its nice amd rounded. Not all square and clunky.

Actually, I've enjoyed this thread and have made some new friends. Xd
>>
>>726790171
my glock .40 is interchangeable. i switch out barrels and mags and extractors and make it a 9mm and a .357 sig.
>>
>>726790166
>huge pile of shit
Just like your opinion.

This bad boy might 404 mang! And the gen1s are what caused all the controversy, but again, have had friends who own them, and they love them. Sorry for sideways pics and shit.
>>
>>726790279
i've got a mosin nagant laying about 36 inches from me right at this moment
>>
>>726790397
That's dope dude. They just drop on all nice and easy?
>>
>>726790461
Is it bad that's it's the same for me. I have the bayonet on it. Are we like connected ?
>>
>>726790445
i don't have a gen 1, i have a milpro. that was the fixed version
>>
>>726790566
What I'm posting is a pt111 millennium g2.... The "fixed one"... Lol. There's. You have the 24/7 pro maybe?
>>
>>726790483
the extractor is the hardest part. i can do 9mm with the .40 extractor and the .357sig is just a .40 case. but to be technically correct, the extractor must be changed

i've also got a lee enfield 4.1 and a 98k within reach. hows that?
>>
>>726790682
Well shit that's nothing. Sweet dude. How do you like the .357 sig? I've heard it's ultimate meme round, but both my LGS and Walmart sure as fuck. Sell the shit outta them
>>
>>726790697
Kek. I deserve that

Hydra-shok
Critical duty (NOT critical defense)
Speer gold dot

Can't go wrong with any of these
>>
>>726790753
Fuck dude I want a 98k. I my dp12 and 30-30 win and my ar10 that's about it
>>
>>726790171
I own a glock 17 I bought from a neighbor cheap. Only reason I've got one. Great shooter, I just like my XD 45 better.
>>
>>726790671
yeah, i've got 2 24/7s, but my milpro is a milpro. it's like a 1.a version. i'll get a pic of it if you want. trust me, i know taurus

personally, i think it's another round that has no reason. i'd much rather carry my 101 and a .357 mag HP. i grew up shooting revolvers
>>
>>726790817
This guy gets it. Avoid the critical defense. Also, I'd recommend HSTs vs hyrdashoks. Just me though. Also liberty ammunition civil defense are. Fucking awesome.
>>726790876
Your mags interchangeable with the p226 like mine? That's how I got that 32 round mag for mine. 15 bucks off CTD
>>
>>726790817
>NOT critical defense
why? the hydraulic point opens up. critical duty is built to defeat glass and barriers.
>>
>>726790841
i've got two that were in the war. one 1939 and one 1942
>>
>>726791037
Can you explain your reasoning on the critical defense? I run those in .38 with my LCR you've got my attention.

Got your facts wrong, son. Him owning a gun wouldn't have done jack shit.

>>
>>726791159
How much did you get them for ?
>>
>>726791037
i don't get this, why you guys don't like the critical defense,., this shit opens up like a flower. fill me in
>>
>>726791217
$210 apiece. i got the mosin for $99 and the lee enfield was a gift. yeah, my life is a dream and a party
>>
>>726791185
Because man, they're notorious for not mushrooming upon impact. You can check out a lot of ammo review guys on YouTube, and the.ones.tbag don't shill for hornady will tell u it's shit. OH and another fucking awesome round is the Defend rounds from Winchesters semi new Train and Defend line. Both have the same grains and everything so you can train with what you'd shoot. In a SHTF situation. Plus it's ballistics are . amazing
>>
>>726791359
Dude how did you get it so cheap
>>
>>726789502
S&W have made .45 acp revolvers before. with moon clips, in WW1 i guess 1911's were getting scarce and they wanted sidearms that took the same round.
>>
>>726791400
He probably bought them about ten years ago or so. My bro got one for 100 buckaroos at a gun. Show in like 08
>>
>>726791463
Man fuck Everytime I find a 98k there like 1000 I should go to gun shows for often
>>
>>726791419
moon clips, thats what i was trying to think of, what did i say, star rings, dumbass me. point was, they aren't very common
>>
>>726791259
Trying to figure this out myself! What's wrong with a bullet designed "flower" after it goes through a carhart jacket
>>
>>726791400
>>726791463
exactly, i got the mausers in 2006. they had a whole barrel of them at the local gun store, i bought one for me and one for dad. he died so i got his.

Did you read the article? Clearly you did not.
you just cherrypicked something off the webs,

No where in the article does it say him owning a gun would have done jack shit...

Fake news.
>>
>>726791529
Well until Trump lifts Russian import ban, they're gonna be expensive. But people getting them for 100$ was like 10 years, up until like 4 years ago, wherever they bought them, not just at gun shows. You can get a Finnish M39 for like $300.... Just Google that and the site will come up
>>
>>726791115
in short, it doesn't work like they say it does reliably.
>>
>>726791621

>>
>>726791766
yeah, i would have loved to get him a broomhandle, that's what he loved. or a p38, that he loved as well. i did what i could
>>
It's been a really pleasant thread lads. Cheers to you all. Keep it in the 10 ring my niggas!
>>
>>726791394
I was under the impression that was by design. The whole being able to penetrate heavy clothes and not open till it hits body mass. I'm going to sound like a faggot, but it also looks cool seeing those red bullet tips in the cylinder. I'm not a total autist, I saw that in the mirror as I practiced drawing... lol
>>
>>726791828
see, i never had this problem. i pull them out of the target medium and they are bloomed out as all fuck. i don't get it.
>>
>>726792007
>The whole being able to penetrate heavy clothes and not open till it hits body mass.
this is what it's designed for. this was the mission statement
>>
>>726792007
You practiced drawing in the mirror with a round chambered? Dude.... Be careful. Please.
>>
>>726792170
That's why I put the lol in there...
>>
>>726792261
Lol. You will ND one day, everyone does at some point. Just be safe man. Fuck lol.
>>
>>726792167
Yes, that was the whole point. It was designed to penetrate heavy clothing and not get the hollow point filled with cloth, then to open up when it hit gut.
>>
>>726792058
idk man, seen it enough to bring it into question. doesn't matter to me anyway. I carry a charter arms .22lr revolver. only thing that fits in my cars center console lol
>>
>>726792058
If even a couple hundred on jewtube don't do what they're supposed to.... You really wanna trust your life to that?
>>
>>726792357
You don't understand my attempt at humor bud. The whole comment was meant to be a joke.
