Anyone with decent computer/ tech expertise? I could use your help, or just your opinion.
My old PC was K.I.A so I'm buying a new one. I would like to know your thoughts on what parts I've chosen, my budget is around £750 or $935.
It's a gaming rig, fyi.

>Case: Corsair Carbide
>CPU: i5 7400 3.0Ghz
>Graphics/GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050ti 4GB
>Motherboard: H110M-R
>Ram: 8GB Corsair Vengeance

Oh shit, I have that case. Pretty gud and easy to build in.
>>
>>726526467
Also, don't get the 1050ti, if you want a similar price and better performance, go with the rx480. I have my build somewhere I can link.
>>
>>726526467
I'd check on Newegg to see if you can get comparable parts for less. Also that case is fucking overpriced. Just get a Cooler Master cheapie.
>>
why the fuck would anyone game on pc? The new PS4 pro is so much more powerful and outputs at 4K for fuck sake!

I knew people on /b/ were retarded but this insane

This website helps people find the cheapest compatible parts. The community puts together the best bang-for-buck pc's of the month

Take the build I sent you and subtract the SSD, just get 8gb of ram and you're set

If you still can't afford it drop the 1070 to a 1060

Don't buy AMD

>>

True, i7s are for benchmarks. An i5 is more than enough for gaming.

>I over paid for an i7K
>>
>>726528444
Get with the times, ATI is AMD now.
>>
Sounds good OP, you dont need anything past the processor you're looking to get, unless you like wasting money or have the extra cash.
>>
Lol these fags hating on amd have no idea what they are talking about
>>
>>726526467
My only input without looking any of the parts up is go with slightly cheaper RAM and get more of it. Unless your board is using DDR4 you should be able to get more for that price
>>
good build, just make sure to use the nvidia instead of the cpu graphics card. Usually it automatically sets to the built in cpu graphics, and you have to manually switch to the gpu
>>
Quick question OP, what about the CPU cooler?
>>
>>726529735
Umm I actually flopped on my last PC and didn't get one at all. Used the stock one. This time um getting s cheap liquid coolING one

Oh trust me, my last PC I bought a 3770k back in 2012 and only had a 500mb graphics card. I've learned from experience.

>>726529217
How much Ram is really optimal for gaming? I think my system is pretty decent, mid to high end? The priority is gaming and maybe streaming.
>>
>>726531065
Because for PC you don't need a 4k monitor which are expensive as fuck.
>>
Terrible build.
Go for a GTX 1060 minimum and even then the price should be around 500 pounds.

woah woah woah op

first off, either drop the i5 and get an fx 8350 for less money or wait until the low end ryzen chips come out.

Even if you don't like AMD, intel's prices should at least drop a bit if you HAVE to have an intel cpu.

Then I suggest beefing your gpu up a tad, 1060 6gb is a "good" deal for a mid ranger (1070 is best bang for your buck) but the RX 480 is a good alternative. If you get the 1050 you are going to be wishing you spent a little bit more when you have to turn res down to 720p in a year.

everything else is too boring to fuss about
>>
>>726532559
Chill fam it was 2012
>>
>>726526467
I'd recommend something besides a Corsair Carbide. The one I had at least, was a piece of shit through and through. It was impossible to get the front piece off without decapitating my disk drives, and the power button fell right through when I pushed it. I switched all of my stuff in to an NZXT S340. I'd definitely go there.
>>
>>726533263
The case isn't a big issue, I'm having it prebuilt, but something cheaper than the carbide would be nice
>>
>>726532804

Hold your horses. It all depends on what he's going to do with the thing. If it's for anything but gaming, sure the AMD stuff might be nice. But intel still has better single core performance by far, so if you want to game on it you're better off buying intel.
>>
>>726526467
AMD ryzen is raping intel right now. I would invest in the newer tech, not the i5. nigger.

It's to game. Maybe stream.
>>
>>726533625
single core performance would beat the FX 8350 IF he spent an extra hundred or so dollars on an intel. haven't researched it in a bit but I think the next step up would be a 6700 k which is almost double the price.

I have an 8350 paired with a 1070 right now (big ass bottleneck i know) because I am not spending the extra money just to get an extra 10-20 frames over the minimum of 60 when I only have a 60 hz monitor like op
>>
>>726526467
literally have the setup you are buying, and it is great, havent had any problems with it
>>
>>726534060
than you would want the extra cores that amd has
>>
>>726534279
My budget is strictly £750. I need to buy other things too.

>>726534346
It sounds like a good build. How is the performance though, what games can you run smoothly etc?

>>726534436
For streaming, not for gaming right?
>>
>>726526467

don't waste moneys on case. Buy an extra ssd instead, for the os
>>
>>726534759
when it comes to gaming, skimp on the cpu, double down on gpu. As much as it pains my heart to hold a gpu back if you are on a tight budget that is the best formula for long lasting performance.

The big thing with streaming is you have to encode the footage and upload it at the same time. Given that the FX 8350 has 8 cores (think of cores as hands) it can multitask better than the intel cpu at the same price. The next jump after the 8350 is the 6700k and thats overpriced and will soon be obsolete because of low end ryzen.

gaming=8350*

Streaming=8350*

*if you are running a tight budget

8350 is pretty old but it is still a very capable cpu and the best economic option for gaming
>>
>>726526467
Looks like a bad deal for those monies.

You can't OC i5 7400. Isn't 7600 just like 25$ more expensive? I'd get that or 7600k.

Next, 1050ti is like 960 gtx, while 1060 is like 980 gtx. You can get 1060 3GB version instead of 6GB for 1080p gaming.

As for RAM. I'd get 16 GB cause it's cheap, but 8GB should be fine for now.

What I'd also absolutely get is some SSD drive (or m.2?) from Samsung instead of a normal one.
>>
>>726526467
Get a cheaper CPU and use the money for a higher card
>>
>>726527296
Nice bait. P.S. it's not 4k
>>
>>726535883
Ryzen nigga
>>
>>726526467
Btw, for gaming, AMD cpus suck ass, because of poor single core performance that some of them compensate with more cores (but many games don't use all cores).

>>726535883
I think you meant 'as much as t hurts to hold back on cpu'?
I get what you're saying for sure but I'd also, in the future look towards editing and streaming as well as gaming. The idea i have is that many cores aren't necessary? Or are cores direvtly equivalent to gaming & streaming?

>>726536346
I was going to ask, should I get a SSD?
But really guys my budget is 750 GBP maybe a tiny bit over but I can't upgrade an area without sacrificing something else.

>>726536456
What card/GB for a card is the best value and still be a good future performer?
>>
>>726526467
It's peasant garbage might as well buy some consoles with that money and then kill yourself.
>>
>>726537805
Yes you can skimp on the cpu im still running an fx6300 paired with a gtx 970 runs fine and dandy build is 4 years old the 970 was added 2 years ago. plays games great

You can hold off on getting an ssd just get a 1tb western digital blue caviar there cheap and last forever

any recent gpu is a good investment. 4gb of ram is a good becnch mark (my card doesn't have 4gb because nvidia is bunch of lying fucks)
>>
>>726537805
no, i meant gpu. a bottleneck means that the cpu or gpu can't keep up with it's counterpart so the counterpart cannot run at 100% efficiency. Slapping a bunch of cores on a shitty cpu doesn't help it but it doesn't hurt it either. The fx 8350 has the same single core performance as the i5 that you are getting but the i5 doesn't have a 8 cores.

Dipshits like >>726536939 say that AMD cpus suck ass because they don't realize that the last time AMD released a cpu (prior to ryzen) was 2011. Intel has had a pseudo-monopoly over the market over those years and has been able to overprice incremental upgrades on their cpus. Of course AMD cpus have had a bad rap for all those years because AMDs flagship was the 6 year old 8350.

Personally, I would wait for the low end ryzen 5 cpus come out, they will have better single core performance and still maintain the core count.
