I hate modern society. My plans are to leave everything behind and go live in the wilderness. Nothing fullfills me, my relatives, my girlfriend, my friends nothing. I hate doing everything by the clock, i hate wearing my suit to go to my work where i have to be fake friendly. I want to be completely free even if i die trying. >I lm ookin for some blueprints or detailed info on how to build a wood cabin only with an axe and a knife. Feel free to give tips in general.
It's a lot of work. If you are sitting in a room staring at the ceiling or wall with no interest, yeah roughing it will be the way. I put up society to get the things I want. I feel it's a reasonable trade.
>>721443897 google Dick Proenneke this guy really did it >>721443735 i would like a companion, we can live close by and help each other but not in the same hut. >>721443843 Life is full of time schedules anxiety fake smiling paying utilities being a law abiding citizen. Society doesnt trade anything it just takes your freedom
>I have a book for wild animals in the place i m going >i have a book for edible plants in the place i m going > I have a book on how to cook and which foods the body needs when you try to survive in the woods.
i think about this shit daily. I always wondered what it would be like if a few of us just set a small community innawoods. I think it would work out good if we had 10-50 people. Everyone could do different things so we could have a small efficient community without all the fakeness and pressures of society, more of a take care of you land type of deal. No need for an economy if we have things to hunt and water to drink, we could be pretty cozy.
Op here. >I plan to leave for ''vacation'' alone. > reach my destination without anyone knowing where i go >burn every identification I know my parents will thing the worst of me, but if i let them know i m alive they will try to find me.
>>721444606 This is the least of my problems. But survivalists say that one must poop at least 100 meters away of where you live and away of water source. I will wipe my ass with water and leafs. I did it in the army for a whole week, its not hard.
>>721444363 Just make sure it's all guys. Once one female shows up, men start acting stupid to impress the female. Watch that Dutch survivor episode when they separated men and females. The men flourished with food furniture and had fun. The females started starving and were being eaten by bugs. Females needed help in the end.
>>721443500 This won't work in this day and age. Just go live in a rural area and get a (part time) job there while having your own chickens and veggie patch. Much more feasible and you'll still have your social contact.
I mean u can have females, but STRICTLYX and ONLYas sex-slaves, NO SOCIETAL INVOLVEMENT however !! Keep them seperated when not directly needed for servitude. Do not let sthem speak in society. Never consult them in societal matters.
Have a rule, that strictly punishes MEN that break these rules also ( = Bluepill-Block )
>>721443500 I'll just put this out there: Humans are social animals. You may or may not realize it but you will miss humans very very soon. It's not even about conversation, it's about hearing voices and seeing faces. If you want to go through with this i'd suggest doing a test phase for a couple of weeks to a month so you can find out what you need for basic equipment and if you really want to go through with this.
>>721446124 This is very true. No one to take care of you when you get sick. By yourself in the woods a small mistake can very quickly snowball to a life threatening situation. No man is an island.
Also you have to be nomadic if you aren't going to practice agriculture. Even a single man will quickly outstrip the resources an area can produce, except in the tropics.
It can be done Les Stroud and his wife lived a pre-Columbian lifestyle in the Canadian shield for a year after they got married. They even had to come out of the bush once that year from illness. They have orders of magnitude more experience with this then you do.
>>721445335 yeah if they would have had those circuit breakers installed to prevent men form treating women as equals throughout history, we would have had an awesome society now. sorta like mad max type but pretty much survival of the fittest. drugs and murder would be legal.
Whatever clothing you can get made with goretex waterproofing Advanced first aid kit, scalpel, needle for stitching cuts etc. For snowy climates you need snowshoes Hammock to sleep off the ground till you build a cabin. Best of luck ,I did it for 5 years in Alaska.Had to come back to Pennsylvania to take care of my aging parents or I would still be there. Plan on returning when I'm able. And take a big caliber rifle
>>721446973 What's the chance of remaining undetected in the Alaska wilderness? Also saw this docu where the guy does it for decades, but he still needs airdrops with ammo, meds etc. Eventually you'll fuck up and you'll need to return to civilisation, fe. if you need surgery.
I wish I could just take a plane there and burn my ID, but eventually I'd need others
>inb4 if you have gangrene just welcome sweet salvation in death
>>721443500 Hey OP, I think you should go for it. First thought I have to ask do you have any backpacking, hunting, firemaking, or fishing skills? You're going to need to hone you skills first if you want to last longer than two weeks. Go on a few day excursion, test your equipment and skills and then report back with pictures. We talk about this a lot on /out/ and /k/.
>>721446893 No you will die. At least practice edible wild plant and wild mushroom identification. You also need to practice trapping, figure four deadfalls and snares, and the like. Big game hunting probably ain't happening so your going to be eating rodent. Start by doing some trials for a week or so then maybe 2. Learn what can go wrong and what works before the consequences are deadly.
I have been eating edible wild plants and mushrooms since I was 7. I'm 35 now, there are plenty of times of year where in my area there just is zero plant based calories available. Primitive man ate alot of one thing for a short amount of time as one resource becomes available and another fades. Sometimes those appearances don't overlap.
If you are hell bent on this, wait until early spring so you have a fighting chance come winter, though I doubt you make it 2 months before heading back or dying.
>>721443500 don't bother with a cabin at first, start with a mud hut to hold you over till you can get the resources to make the cabin. Also, it's highly suggested to live somewhere along a river, especially if there's lots of clay deposits in the area.
>>721443500 If you want to be free and not a slave to your limited possibilites invest in some good tools like multitool, chisel, bow/crossbow etc. Also take some survival classes it will save your life more then once. Good luck anon I support your decision
>>721447892 i wasn't meaning a clay hut, i meant a mud hut, but the clay is for things like pots to store water and boil it n stuff. a simple mud hut with a stick/leaf skeleton could be constructed in a few hours, even tho it'll take a bit to dry. unless you light a fire inside it to speed up the process.
>>721443500 It is a huge amount of work and planning. Disappearing has been what has kept me alive for so long and I have been planning it for years. It takes thousands of dollars in equipment if you wish to have any real chance of succeeding. You really need to look into the area you plan to go, check it out during all seasons and see what the conditions are like, how sustainable are the local resources are, is there water year round, are you going to hunt? If so what animals and how many? Will you farm? If so what food and how will the weather effect it? Start a journal and write these questions down and answer them, draw designs of cabins and begin working out because it will be very hard. It all sounds very overwhelming but make it your goal. You have to live it if you really want to do it.
>>721447745 >Start by doing some trials for a week or so then maybe 2.
This. If you want to make it you need preparation. Start by going out in the weekend, progress slowly towards your goal by practising everything you need to know and take with you. If you invest too much emotionally in your first attempt and have to go back for whatever reason (which is likely to happen), it will crush your spirit.
>>721448068 Dude digging clay is no shit hard work. You have to get enough resources pooled together to make stopping foraging for long enough to commit to building. Do some research on what your native tribes did for shelter. This IS the optimal structure you will find for your biome, unless you are going to rely on modern portable mountaineering equipment.
>>721447749 The plan is to live in a rocky place with river at least 500 meters close and see at least 2 km close. >>721447745 I have a book of local edible plants , and a book of local mushrooms. I know big game will not be easy and i may never accomplish big game food. >>721447766 I will kill baby deers i m not that stupid. >>721447790 i will die happy. >>721447830 salute. also wher are you going?
I just want to be a drifter. The human race disgusts me but why should that stop me taking advantage of them? The internet is pretty cool too. It's entertained me for many years thus far. I'd probably create a twitter account so people could follow my adventures... Like this one! @AllBetOff
>>721448364 A book ain't living it my man. Trust me on this one. Getting it past your mind and into your stomach is the trick. Forage while camping. And also if you do this take 50# of salt, it isn't available if you aren't on the coast or salt pan on the desert and it is worth far more than gold in the wilderness.
>>721444665 CT >>721444774 im not talking about building a government, >>721445007 Women who are in to this type of thing would be welcome but you can't expect for any women to be ok with this. There are plenty of examples of couple living peacefully innawoods together. >>721448040 people like you will be shot at the gate.
>>721443500 >I lm ookin for some blueprints or detailed info on how to build a wood cabin only with an axe and a knife. Feel free to give tips in general. Go visit "Primitive Technology" Youtube channel. He shows how to build a shrimp trap, a shelter and other stuff with stone-age tools
>>721443735 You would most likely resort to stealing from camps to survive.
I'm saying this because I've felt the same way for a long time. I've been studying it for years. How to live off the land. Navigating. Keeping yourself alive in a worst case scenario. Foraging. Trapping. When and where to set up camp.
Trapping rabbits will not keep you alive for very long. Foraging is the same way. In fact it can make you very sick, dehydrated, and even kill you.
Your best bet is to take a trip every month for a few days. Do it alone. Make sure you can rely on yourself. See what your body can handle without eating very much food because if you did this you will have periods of this. Especially if you don't bring a rifle with you. But then you need more ammo. You don't work so you can't pay for it. So you'll eventually have to assimilate back into society to some degree. You see where I'm getting at?
It is extremely difficult to be 100% self sustaining. You will most likely die earlier than you would living in a society.
>>721448318 uh, river, set up fish traps made from sticks, not hard to make, easy to string a bunch of em across the river, catch some fish for food while you're digging clay LOL. then again, just ignore me, 3 weeks of survival camp in boyscouts, before they became a bunch of pussies, didn't teach me a damn thing amirite?
>>721449613 Ner, but something has changed. Either I quietly gas myself in the downstairs bathroom tonight or I start an adventure that could lead me anywhere. I can't live this life I'm living anymore.
>>721443500 The only place you can do this nowadays is Alaska, a harsh and deadly environment. If you think you're going to just go live in the wilderness and survive you are a deadman. This takes years of training. How old are you? What experience do you have with the outdoors?
>>721451089 I dont want to go alaska, Its damn too harsh enviroment. I can try something easier. I dont try to prove anything. I m 26 . I ve been in the army for 1 year. I like trecking i have visited hard enviroments before . I read a lot and i will only make it when i will be totally confident.
>>721450156 You should join the army. Sure it wont give you your freedom back but it will give you a clear purpose in life, all you have to do is do what you're told. Thats extremely freeing in itself.
>>721443500 Ever heard the saying "the grass isn't always greener on the other side"?
I think that is likely to be your experience. Also, you're a city boy. You wouldn't last 10 minutes without all of your fancypants bullshit. You're asking if you can build a cabin with only a knife and an axe? You'll be dead before you complete it. Even with a wide array of tools, building a cabin takes time. Where will you sleep in the mean time? What will you eat? Where will you find a steady supply of fresh, clean drinking water? Also, your cabin will actually turn out to be a hut because nobody can build a decent cabin from scratch with no tools.
Basically you're just a fucking edgelord who doesn't know what the fuck he is getting himself into.
When you're out in the woods, far away from society, nobody can help you. No cell service, no doctors, no police, nothing. If you get ganked by a mountain lion nobody will even notice.
>>721451578 I might enjoy the army TBH. Problem is I totally disagree with what our western army's are actually fighting for. It sucks but it's true, if I'm gonna start killing people over oil. I'm keeping the damn oil for myself.
>>721452698 Didn't say what I do is important, not in the grand scheme of things. Nothing we do matters at all, not even in the slightest. But it does give me a purpose, and humans need that to feel like they matter.
Look, I love to read. It's something that too few people appreciate. You are going to die, likely horribly, if you have to rely on a book to tell you how to survive though. Too many plants and animals (especially insects) look very similar, and a book won't likely tell you how to distinguish them properly.
Also, one of my favorite things my grandma used to cook was wild poke salat. Really good stuff, except unless washed and para-boiled correctly, it's poisonous. Just because something is edible doesn't mean it is something you should just feel free to dig into.
>>721443500 Modern society is just a rehash of several other societies, augmented by trinkets and baubels, alongside a few novel nuggets of information.
The aspect of human society and behavior hasn't gone anywhere, hasn't changed much. The majority of us may as well be dark age peasants with smartphones, improved health care, a dictionary that no one reads, and guns.
I'm not gonna die tonight /b/, I refuse to be that weak. But I'm not above sitting here like a fat sobbing baby. I NEED TO MAKE A PLAN AND IT NEEDS TO BE PUT INTO ACTION. I can't be me anymore, so my only option is to stop been me.
>>721445007 I'd put mountain women like my grandma up against both groups there. My grandma grew up during the depression, on Sand Mountain, AL. Survival was largely about knowing your environment, and living off of it. Women her age are/were by no means useless, or squeamish about shit like modern women are.
>>721446020 Yankees and other city faggots I bet. The proper way to preserve them is dig a pit, lay a nice layer of lime, throw the potatoes in, cover them with more lime, and then dirt. They will keep for a very long time like that.
>>721443500 this won't fulfill you either the problem is you >I hate doing everything by the clock, i hate wearing my suit to go to my work where i have to be fake friendly. Then don't. You don't have to live in the wild to stop this.
I am that. My particular form of craziness, Schizotypal and avoidant personality disorders makes me crave human relationships, while at the same time making me avoid them out of irrational fear. My thoughts do get a bit bizarre and irrational during times when I allow myself to become as isolated as possible. If I could completely isolate myself, I inevitably would, and I'd be miserable the whole time.
Luckily that's not an easy thing to do. At the very least I have to go to work (I'm a machinist) and I have to make regular trips to the store, bank, etc. Plus I do have friends and family who care about me, and will come check up on me whenever I stop answering the phone for an extended period.
>>721459523 again: society isn't your problem dump your girlfriend, leave your work, find better ones. Change how you approach them, "dress for success", except not for how someone tells you to be successful, but your own success/happines
>>721459652 also this, not in a "safe space" sort of way, just change your mindset
