OP here about the languages. I have no problem with the other slavic nations. Bulgarians are most close to Makedonija. Our languages are close to yours because the old bulgarians made the letters we both write on.

I'm not saying the politicians are not to blame. Im saying that bulgarian politicians are a reflection of the bulgarian people and it's mentality. Like the saying goes : every nation deserves it's rulers. Bulgaria is a small nation and it was always sold to and ruled by foreign interests. Only the price varies. And in the last 20 years it was sold for almost nothing. And thats all because of the "lone survivor" mentality. You can't blame politicians for destroying your country, while you are exhibiting the same pattern of behaviour as them. I'm not sure if you are like this, but over half of all bulgarians think like this. They have to, if they want to survive. In Bulgaria, all over 45s know Russian. Seriously. And even then, most Russians I know can read and understand up to 70% of Bulgarian.

Sofia is a cool underrated city. We have the large mountain of Vitosha to the south, which has skiing facilities. Being the 2nd oldest city in Europe, we have many historical sites. Our Beer is also cheaper than a bottle of Coka Cola, so the bars are a good bargain for westerners.

Bulgarian on tourist crime is more in tourism itself - much higher prices for foreigners. As for actual crime - not really that much. Except for the gypsy scum, but they steal from everyone anyway.
