My friends and I used to bother with kitting up for games, but we've come to the conclusion that it's pretty pointless to wear a full kit to pick-up games where you're probably going to be grabbing a bite halfway though or at the end of the day. If I ever go and play, it's in jeans and a sweatshirt with my ALICE rig.
Makes sense for a milsim op where you need a level of organisation and cohesion, but not for a weekend game where the only people who care about how you look are 13 year olds and geardos.

As someone who owns what the Condor clone is based on, I can tell you to just go for the Condor one anyways. The Condor softshell, for it's price, has excellent quality. Can't exactly go wrong with it, just don't expect it to have hardshell-like water resistance.

Got one of the Nuprol Sopmods since I wanted a cheap AR style AEG I could play around with. Turns out to be pretty solid but I had feed issues where it would partly jam then the next bb would feed and smash the other one out the barrel and fuck up my accuracy and range. I've cleaned the barrel, hop up and checked over my mags and it seems to be OK for the time being. Any one else had a problem like that?

Cyma 04xx series, if you're on a budget. Internally good, steel receiver, generally well put together.

LCT make really good higher-end AKs, but pricier.

I wouldn't obsess over it too much, just find one you like the look of. Most AEGs perform pretty similarly, plus at some point you'll want to upgrade the internals anyway.

I happen to believe that the license system is a good idea.

All you need to do is to report to your local police station, with proof of airsoft club membership (continuous membership for 1.5 years), present proof of purchase of an airsoft gun, submit the gun for FPS testing (plus admin fee), submit letters of character reference from employer and doctor, hand in evidence of completion of gun safety course, pay airsoft gun registration fee + plus license processing fee.

Adding guns to the license is easy as well (up to a max of 3 guns) just submit them for testing, and pay admin and testing fees.

So i just bought this KJW M700 from a friend of a friend and am starting the process of modding it to make it better.

Things I plan to do to it include, but are not limited to:

1. Swapping the barrel for a 6.03mm
2. Setting up an HPA rig
3. Putting a nicer body kit on it because I feel like I'm hunting deer holding this polyshit stock
4. Replacing the hop up system with something stronger and grinding a new nub from pvc for the system.
5. Replacing the bolt with one that is flush against the BBs when they are in the chamber

I have never modded an airsoft gun before but I have worked with small components and fixed many delicate things in my shop. I have all the necessary tools and I am pretty confident I can do it right. Should i go through with it like this or bring it to a shop or spend my money in a better fashion? Is a modded out KJW worth the commitment?

As a long time member of airsoftmechanics I can't believe the amount of bitching that goes on about R-hops. It's not as even as if it's like a polarstar that's just a stupidly expensive excuse for people that can't take the time to tune their own guns, they cost less than 20$ to install if you buy HS5's overpriced precut patches, or you can buy foot of 6mm id 7.5mm od silicone tube from McMaster for 5$ and churn out hundreds of you own patches for pennies on the dollar.

Aside from that, all you have to do is file the corners of the hopup window of the barrel if they're not originally square, if anything it's a way that poorfags can shit on richfags underpreforming expensive guns as the only thing it takes is a few hours to tune it and you can't get around that by throwing money at the problem.

If you just stabilize your barrel, fix AOE issues, solve any compression leaks, install an R-hop, put a sorbothane pad on your pistonhead, and use non shit bbs, you can easily turn a shitty gun into one that has consistently ±5fps maximum shot to shot deviation, and can hit a man sized target at 200+feet with ease. Perhaps I'm unusual since at some point I found I like tuning guns more than actually using them, but the appeal of airsoft for me is that anyone with some time and intelligence and a small amount of cash can tune their guns to a level that can compete with the most absurdly priced guns around, it makes it so the sport is somewhat balanced person to person.

Keep in mind small barrels are a meme, you only get a slight fps boost at the cost of more bouncing between the bb and the barrel which usually increases your grouping, 6.05 is good enough for anything, if you really want to be anal about it you could look into lapping the barrel, but that's probably overkill unless you going for bragging rights.

Hpa is apt to be unnecessary, if you have access to a chrono see what your average shot to shot fps deviation is, if it's high (20+fps) you might want to look into tuning your compression system.

As a bolt action rifle the biggest improvements you can make are adding an R-hop which increases the amount of spin on the bb, which extends the amount of time that the Magnus effect is able to give it lift resulting a longer time before the bb falls below your sight axis thereby extending your effective range. Adding a sorbothane pad is another massive help since it deadens the sound of the piston falling, and makes the gun significantly quieter overall, since you only have a single shot, sound is your enemy, you want to be able to be that one random bb that no one hears coming.

You also might want to look into using some of the heaviest bbs you can find, this increases the angular momentum and linear momentum of the bb this means that the bb;
-is less affected less by wind
-Spins for longer at a more constant RPM which normalizes the amount of lift received
-has a more uniform mass distribution, as lighter bbs are prone to developing voids.

On top of this it should increase your effective range and flatten the trajectory (see pic related) which are essential when accuracy counts.

The gorka is comfy, i like it. For some reason russians manage to make absolute garbage personal equipment but their uniforms are usually well designed. It's also heavy enough to use it down to 5°C without needing any extra thermal equipment (although that might change depending on the type of gorka you get).
Also Mk.2 is breddy good. 5 other teammates bought one when they saw mine.

It's ok for me, desu it's automatically a good piece for the sole merit that it exists at all and it doesn't cost you 6 gorillion euros like the Asura one.
HOWEVER it's not a 100% exact clone of the zenitco part, the polishing is almost non-existent (you can see the engravings made by the CNC machine they used to cut it), and it required some minor work to fit on my cyma.

The locking mechanism didn't engage completely and it caused the stock to accidentally fold whenever i put some pressure on it, also had to put a small raiser on the butt of the main body to reduce wiggling. It's very stable now and combining it with any decent M4 buttstock is eons ahead of the vanilla ak stock.

I have a noob question /asp/:

I'm in the UK just started getting into airsoft recently,
what happens if i buy a black airsoft rifle without a UKARA membership?

Apparently its has to have an ugly orange/blue tint or it's illegal unless you have a UKARA membersip, but all the websites I've seen let me get to the checkout it without it. Should i just skip it and buy my guns anyway? i don't wanna wait 2 months in case the guns i'm eyeing goes out of stock.

In all seriousness though, you may or may not be fine, but don't go showing the thing on social media or anything because the UK police is notorious for raiding your house without proper evidence. They've rolled up on houses for kids with baseball bats.
Also if you go to a field they'll probably ask for your UKARA card, and if you don't have one you may or may not be reported.
