Alright guys, I wanna thank everyone for their interest in both The Caspian Gap and The Kazakh Insurgency. Unfortunately Caspian is now completely sold out and since we volunteered as hospital security for Insurgency, we're all full up on that (unless someone wants to fill a Registered Nurse role and pay $200 to lug water around all weekend). Th externals are nice. There's very little pot metal and everything feels solid and robust. Much better than the A&K version. My microswitch is busted so it shoots in random bursts, but it's relatively accurate and has a decent rate of fire for being stock and using a 9.6 nimh.

Not the other guy, but I'm looking for help on lipos. I have an Echo1 AR but I'm not entirely sure on how lipos work. My experience with lipos comes from RC planes and the like and for them you need a new set of electronics for them. With an airsoft gun I'm worried putting a lipo in something that has used NiMH all its life will cause an issue

The lipo battery itself works a little different. You need a lipo specific charger. With that said, there is a voltage cut off on most lipo chargers. If you go below said cut off, the lipo charger won't charge the battery. This is a safty feture. Let say the cut off is 9v (for an 11.1 it is), if you get the battery under 9v, you can put it on a nimh charger for a few mins so it goes above the curt off. Then you'll be able to put it back on the lipo charger.

The gun however can remain stock. The v3 gearbox handles 11.1v batteries better than the v2, because it has a larger contact area for the connection. That's why v2's tend to shit the bed faster. You can always use a 7.4v lipo. Which will act like a 9.6 pretty much.

Why wouldn't it be?

A fuse is just a wire that is built to harmlessly melt when too much current is passed through it. So if your motor can eat more current than your fuse is rated for, and a lipo can provide that current, wheras a NiMh battery couldn't, then you could burn the fuse.

if you stuff a fuse-shaped piece of metal into the fuse holder, shorting it, it'll run. Same as if you remove the fuse from the circuit entirely by straight wiring past it.

It is when in the pre-paintball era HPA lines weren't made as securely as they are today, where you had to hand pump the pressure in your air tank, and even if you instead decided to op for gas blowback, you were looking at very small magazine and expensive compared to a 500 round hi-cap mag. 80s and 90s hpa and gas was just plain inefficient compared to the plug in and forget of the AEG. Making a DMR isn't something you just buy.

It requires expensive intricate upgrades, proper training to actually play the role properly, and not be a useless or gloried guy with a normal AR.

It also needs proper external setup to boot.

Finished my first rifle. Put a madbull rail on a G&P M4. I had to mill out the back end of the rail, and the attachment flange in order to accommodate the fake gas tube. Hadn't realized when I bought it that madbull would fuck with the design in order to keep it from being compatible with the real deal. Still, nothing some power tools and files and emery cloth couldn't fix.

Anyone have a suggestion for a decent riser for the fake micro?I think it looks pretty cool up there on the carry handle, but it's so far up there, I have to aim like four inches high, which is getting old real quick.

That way, you can aim down sights and won't need any risers at all.

The lines are nearly identical today as they were in the 80s and 90s. You could use gas-powered motors to compress air back in the day not just manual pumps or use propane cans with coiled line adaptors.
Lowcaps are still a thing today and they have nothing to do with one's inability to load them prior to a game starting plus the fact that gas users had access to high capacity magazines too.

You don't forget to fill your air rig. You don't magically lose you propane/gg can. You don't forget to load your mags. You don't get stuck in stuff for using scuba tanks because you don't use xbox hueg scuba tanks to begin with and your air rig doesn't magically get disconnected.
That ad is is a big hyperbole and is in no way a indicator of if a system is better than other, which was the implication from the guy that jokingly posted the video.

You're right that gas is a good system (or at least not a disaster like the ad makes out), but the convenience and affordability of the AEG definitely helped to popularise the sport in a way gas never could.

Airsoft guns began being sold in Japan our of their prolific model gun industry in the mid 70s. Paintball started in the US in the early 80s in New Hampshire, and by the time it got to Japan, airsoft survival games had already taken hold. And yes, HPA attachment systems for these classic airsoft guns were not terribly reliable, in part because for the most part they weren't attached to actual high pressure air systems most of the time, but tanks with hand-pumps. Of course there's hyperbole, but these were things that happened, and they were also the things that brought on the dominance of the AEG.

You are mistaking the creation of airsoft with the creation of bb guns. In the 70s bb guns started being manufactured and sold but that's it.
Paintball is the 'original survival games' and predates airsoft simply because it's what was first conceived as an actual activity.
Paintball created a demand and is what caused Sabage to be born as a mix of paintball and realism.

Is it in the West? Because in Soviet Union some sort of tactical games have started to take place among pioneer movement in the 60s.They haven't featured toy guns, though.

I'm talking in Japan. In Europe and America airsoft was relatively unknown until early 90s and wasn't really played until early 2000. Some countries in Europe didn't even have laws related to the sport until recently.
