No he went to jail because he beat up a pregnant woman and assaulted her vehicle when her other kids were inside. He says that she said something racist to him to start it but who knows. His hijinx while on baker contributed to his sentence but that's the crime he was sent away for. As far as I know guns had nothing to do with it but he got sent back again recently, maybe that time was for guns.

need to work on jumping your body forward a bit , not just flinging the board. with shuvs for example you always need to move your body at least 4" or so forward (the way your toes are pointing) to land back on it. You news to jump forward a bit to keep up with its rolling direction too
>>
when i skate, the leg im not pushing with burns. am i doing something wrong?
>>
I just put together my first complete and even after tightening the trucks it's still possible for the wheels to hit the board and throw me off. Is this what risers are for and should I get a pair?
>>
Tried dropping the 5 today and I landed sideways on my ankle and rolled it hard. Wish I recorded it for your entertainment.
>>
>>1382942
This wont be a factor you need to worry about if you're just starting out. Unless you're riding without bushings the wheels wont make contact with the board while riding.

>>1382908
You're not doing anything wrong, your body is just adjusting to riding. Plus the leg you're not pushing with is in a squat position.
>>
I tried doing a bs 50-50 today, ended up with a bruised elbow and broken spirit.
>>
>>1382942
Even with risers, wheel bite is going to happen.
>>
>>1382942

Wax the underside of the board where wheelbite is happening and it won't be as big an issue. You might need to do it every few sessions
>>
>>
How much easier do flip/flat tricks become the more you learn? Can currently pop shove it and Ollie perfectly fine and learned both kinda quick but now feels like I've hit a wall. Trying to learn kickflips and 180's and found both pretty difficult

Alright everyone, its that one skateboarding noob from a few days ago whos the bigger guy and was asking all those questions.

tomorrow is the day I order my new deck, and I'm pretty set on an Impact board, probably going for a double, for that extra strength and some bearings so I can actually skate. Going for Reds with the bearings. I wish the impact boards had more choices for graphics though, but I'm thinking I'll grab the Youness or Willow one ( I personally love the Haslam deck but it's 8.5 and I think that's a tad too big even if I have giant feet)

what do you guys think?
>>
>>1383149
If you don't live in the sticks go to a local store nearby so you can stand on a few decks and see how much space your feet have.

Also take advantage of asking the employees questions. Most know their stuff.
>>
>>1383123

You will eventually be able to do 180s (in all stances) absolutely perfectly. Once you learn them, learning to power slide them without popping & no-comply them will help cement your motions to the point where they are completely dialed.

Flip tricks are different. Practice doesnt make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. There are flip tricks you might never get 100%. There are others you will. It has a lot to do with how much you struggle with learning them and which ones just work better for you. Hence why there are those kids who can treflip on their first day, for example.

For me I can do every flip trick but they take a lot of tries. But I can skate huge stuff, faster than most people, and strange obstacles and rails better than others. But even today when I see that dude at the park who isn't that great in general and skates real slow with a tiny board, I give respect because I'll never be able to do every fliptrick every time like him. People are just different
>>
>>1383174

>>
>>1383815
>I don't get what's the point in playing a fighting game when you can just go out and punch on?
>>
>>1383815
You've never played. It's literally so crisp and buttery, you'll never want to skate again.

The dual thumb stick control and elimination of Tony Hawk Tekken style combos is the true way to play a skate boarding video game.

I always play realistically and make some beautiful lines. I honestly prefer Skate 2 to 3, but 3 is the one they have announced as upcoming for next gen console. So, that's the one I have to dick ride at the moment.
>>
>>1383848
>Skate 2 masterrace

>>
>>1382990
Risers still give you a tighter turn radius without biting the wheel first.
>>1382942
What I did is started with 1/4 inch risers for a while until I could get kick turning down, then took them off. I haven't bit the wheel after that, even when I'm carving the hardest I can.
If you think risers can help you, go ahead and buy them to try them out. They're like 4 bucks.
>>
>>1383983
I should add, I find it easier to do tricks without risers, but if they help you get comfortable on your board before you start doing tricks and shit, then it'll be worth it.
>>
>>1382943
A 5 drop is pretty tall for landing with your foot sideways. Make sure you didn't break your ankle or tear any ligaments and that it's just a roll.

How do i stop liking pop shuvits.
It's the only trick i can do super high and land bolts, my kickflips are mobbed and low i often land primo or they won't rotate, even my ollies are nowhere near as consistent and good.
I enjoy doing pop shuvits so much i'd rather do them instead of fixing my flips. Halp.

How do I get my back foot to land on the board when doing a kickflip?
Used to have them down like 4-5 years ago but haven't skated since then and I can't get them back for some reason.

Move your weight on your front foot a bit. You might start landing on the nose if you do it too much, so you need to find a good balance.

The reason is because if you skate then your trucks are ground down and nasty so why would you touch them. Especially considering you could cut yourself or get metal flakes in your hand. Whereas if you don't skate your trucks are mint condition and are the perfect handle, thus kooks with perfect trucks will hold the board that way, whereas people who do skate will hold it by the board, plus it's easier to just throw down and ride when needed that way
>>
>>1384729
Technically nothing? It was another way to hold the board and didn't get the negative connotations until the late 90s.

Shit, those are the bearings I got. They were only 10 bucks though, and I plan on going back for some Reds.

Took the board out for a spin though, rolled around a bit; definitely feels like it's my first time ever on a board again, even though I've rode my longboard just the other month. I gotta get used to pushing normal as opposed to mongo also...just tons of shit I've got to relearn it feels like. Kind of excited to see where I'll go from here I guess.

anyways, sorry for the blog post, here's a picture of the current board/set-up! All I can find on the board is that it's from some old company, Shuvit. not a fan of the 7.825 size though, and I plan to grab an 8.5 board soon, got to test a few out at Zumiez.

Hey guys so i stopped skateboarding when i was 15 due to a fucked up family. Anyway im 20 now and trying to pick it back up. I can cruise really really good. A good 6-8 kms a day but i cant seem to ollie well. Even stationary i can do maybd 2-3 feet and sometimes land but moving is just impossible for me. I know its not my board cause kids at the skatepark tried it out and according to them its actually very easy on my board. Do i just practice stationaries? I feel like im wasting my time since i cant do moving ollies at all. Let alone kickflips
>>
>>1387608
unfortunately the key to getting your moving ollies down is to practice them moving even tho youll probably eat some shit
keeping yourself in control of the board is a lot different when you're covering both vertical and horizontal difference so just get used to it now
just perfect the foot position, motion, landing bolts and you will adjust to learning to do tricks while moving
>>
>>1387631
practice rolling

put 70% of your weight on your front foot
focus on just lightly popping (to maintain control) then landing so your front foot is on the bolts

you can perfect the timing of your front foot later, but if you do that, you should be very stable when you land. Make sure you do not have more than 50% of your weight on your back foot. focus just on your front foot

As someone that had a crippling case of chickenfoot, it'll be harder to lean ollies moving if you only practice them stationary.

Practice rolling at a fair speed, jumping forward while you pop the board and turn your foot. This will give you very low ollies but you can worry about height later. Also >>1387840 this, I wasn't quick to realize weight distribution was essential when I was learning.

Where i live the streets are pretty shitty, and i don't have a car to travel to the local skatepark which is roughly a mile away. I haven't been arsed to go there in a few weeks due to this. Should i just find a bike for 50 bucks, or setup a cruiser board with soft wheels on to my extra pair of trucks and a deck? Yes, big soft wheels are more comfortable, not as loud and roll through cracks and shit better than hard wheels
