Totally. See pic related.

Tried OJ Keyframes and Bones ATF wheels, they're pretty good on rough terrain. The only thing is you can't really slide or do rotational tricks all that well (you will eat shit). Also, it took me a while to get used to the slight bounciness when landing or doing a running start.

Jokes aside, It'd be nicer if more wheels came in the 90-97a range of hardness for a nice blend between a wheel for riding and one for tricks.

the smell of weed smoke is MUCH less pungent than the smell of tobacco smoke, coming from someone who likes both smells. tobacco smoke sets in and can be smelled for a long while after it's smoked, the smell of weed smoke pretty much disappears after a couple hours

Girly? I bought a helmet because I want to learn how to shred pools. Only have a long board but should be ok I think.
>>
>>1391008
It's so damn hard to find perfectly symmetrical boards, I buy all my shit from the internet and the site I order from only lists how concave the deck is.
Bought a new one recently, the tail is a half centimeter taller than the nose, it doesn't look like much but the difference is really big, so annoying having to shuv like every other trick just to get the low side for tre flips and the tall one for ollies etc

actually, I've never understood that thing about go early go burly, if you want to learn you just have to do what you want to. I think that its cooler to go when there are some people on the skatepark (not full) because they could teach you things and its less boring, if you care what someone who's learning (everyone always is) thinks about you while trying to learn, you are still 2 inmature

no son, autistic memes aside. Don't do that shit. You'll be liable to not pickup on the lines and be oblivious to getting in others way. Ease into it and don't learn your super basic shit around others, unless they are friends or something
>>

wtf man, are you retarded or what, how boring can it be to be always alone on a park, sweating and falling...
stop being autistic dude, if you want to learn you have to get out of your confort zone... I'm not from the US and maybe people can be different there but any time I see someone getting angry because someone with less skill is using the park I think:
why don't you fuckin buy/build you own fucking park faggot
parks are made by everyone taxes so everyone has the right to be there

>>
>>1392281
Dude are you seriously retarded and/or twelve?
>>
>>1392285
man, being serious, I make the same question to you
>>
>>1392296
If you're the guy I'm responding to, then you're a fucking retard who can't make a coherent point against what I've said. Instead resorting to petty "I bet you suck" type insults instead.

Like I said everyone has the right to use roads, doesn't mean your retarded ass can get in traffics way. Try countering that point
>>
>>1392308
so that recent video of gonz skating in nyc roads is retarded?
>>
>>1392071
wear gloves you pansy
>>
>>1392311
Again you are completely missing the point. Gonz is an experienced skater, he knows what he is doing. Where as a beginner doesn't and should try to go when there are minimal people to figure things out without getting in others way when doing so. Otherwise they are very likely to kook it and roll directly in front of a common line at the park.

Like I said originally learn your super basic things by yourself or with a group of friends. Then ease your way into going to more crowded sessions, so you'll pick up on what others are doing and not get in their way. Bailing to avoid hurting beginners gets very tiresome, very quickly.
>>
>>1392071
Either you're doing something utterly retarded to make it hurt, or you're a little bitch. Just holding your board doesn't hurt
>>
>>1392083
This should be a graphic.
>>1392167
Tighten your trucks a little
>>
>>1392113
I agree with this guy, if you're not comfortable on your board and can't ollie consistently, don't go to a park when it's crowded.
>>
>>1392179
>if you want to learn you have to get out of your confort zone

that's true, but if you 're a beginner going whenever there are people shredding you 're constantly going to be out of your comfort zone and you might get disheartened. Either go early, that means when people aren't flooding the park and you feel comfortable if you MUST go to the park, or go burly, get out of your comfort zone and get familiar with slams.
To me, one should be improving within their individuality, i.e. their own rhythms and their own desire to get out of the comfort zone. Some people, or all, do want to experiment going out of their comfort zone, it's part of learning.
Thus, the skatepark etiquette: go early or go burly.

Any recommendations for trousers/pants/shorts for the summer? Something that keeps me cool on hot days but can hold up against as many scrapes as possible.

My old jeans are now frayed and ripped all over, past the point of passability and I really wanted to feel smart and get some milsurp shorts and go zookeeper mode but the online stores I find them on don't do them in my size.

I'm a waist size 28 so my options are pretty limited.

Thats pretty clearly, not my fucking point lad. You can be there, but you're not entitled to be getting in others way with your beginner bullshit and going "but this is a public park I'm allowed to be here" is full scooter mum bullshit. You're oblivious ass rolling directly in front of someones line risks them getting hurt, cause you were too much of an idiot to know better. Which is fine to not know, everyone starts somewhere. When skating down hill what is the best way to stop? When I put my foot down to stop my ankle hurts, and I don't want to tail slide as it will damage my deck. The most I can do is bail out once the board starts to speed wobble.
>>
When you guys varial heel do you push your foot on the tail outward? Or is it more of a pressure flip type deal? Every time I try the board just kind of sticks up in the air and spins, I cant get the full rotation.

Funny story with speed wobbling that happened the other day.

>be me
>skating with 2 of my friends
>me and friend 2 have had a couple of beers
>we're driving around in a walmart parking lot waiting for my buddy to get off work
>get the idea "hey you should pull me with your car and i'll hang on the side"
>friends both laugh and we proceed to do it
>the thing is friend 2 is newer to skating and hasn't quite found his balance on his deck yet but is still holding onto the car anyways
>friend gets the car up to 30mp/h
>I let go because the guy driving is slowing down
>turn around
>see friend 2 on the ground
>get closer and he's got road rash all over his shoulder hand and chest

Fun times, thought I'd share for the keks

You need to learn to power slide. Start by winding up as much as you can and spinning your shoulders to slide 180. Practicing from there you'll be able to learn to just turn them 90 and truly powerslide to stop/slow but start with sliding 180 to figure it out first.

You can also hang your heel off the tail, and step into it like you were putting the tail down to stop, but just sliding your heel like a brake. You'll notice there are some pros who do this. Sliding on the heel rather than the tail so you don't scrape anything but the rubber of your sole

yes, so sick! if you are into Dime, lurknyc, etc you will love this. or if you are into san fran, east coast skating in general, or Japan you will love this (basically a lot of tight spots and shitty ground). it has some of the most insane hill bombs ever. lots of funny interactions with bystanders too. definitely has a gritty, anti-authority vibe as well. lots of graffiti clips, running from the cops, etc. most impressive thing is maybe the length of the video. lurknyc came out with that ~16 minute video, Dime's recent video was maybe 12-15 minutes (don't remember). This GX1000 was a solid 40 I think.

There's footage of the event last year and there doesn't seem to be any footage of criminal activity.

I've seen other events, although never skateboarding ones, that end up like this. Groups abuse the guaranteed big numbers to break the law/joyride/start shit for a day. Usually found in riots, protests and festivals.

Sometimes I wonder if someone is behind these hijacks but usually it's just the news channels showing the ones that form a narrative.

Finally started skating at age 20
I had a skate I assembled from 5 years ago<

Girl Eric kostn deck 7.5(bought the cheapest back then, still cost like 50€)
Destructo superlite trucks
the blue fire/flaming face wheels
black panther abec 3 bearings

One wheel axle nut came off after going down an accentuated ramp, scary shit and it was annoying since it ended with my session of skating

Have like 6 hours of skating so far under me, can ride normally in the skatepark, go down some small and average ramps and drop in small ramps(practing in them to move up gradually, shits scary)

I'm learning to ollie, pulled it off some times but the board ollies in front of me while I go back
then I landed on it some times but it didnt quite seem a ollie since I dint "kick it" properly, this is the hardest part to me since sliding the foot to the nose seems impossible, feels like my feet is glued
any tips?

also why are all boards 8 inches now? I swear back then I could find millions of 7.5 decks now its rare af

Alright, my axle nut of one wheel flew somewhere and that tiny circle thing that came with the bearings(separator?) too.
Is that thing important?

also I guess acetone is good for cleaning bearings, now for lubbing what can I use outside bones speed cream(cant get it where I live)

>>
>>1408726
i hear sewing machine oil is good, but i dont really know where to look for it
>>
>>1408726

No its not important at all. Just make sure you don't tighten the nut too far. You want there to be like a millimeter of space so you can head the wheel clack back and forth if you shake it. You can get those spacers for free at a local hardware store if you show them one and just ask
>>
>>1408745
will see if I can find that

>>1408763
I left a little space where I can see and feel the wheel a bite going from one side to the other, its minimal but its there and I hear the click when it hits the sides

I'm worried about the bearings though, theyre 5 years old but I rode it back then as much as I did this past 4 days.
They dont seem to make a noise and seem to roll ok(theyre shortys black panther abec 3) and still leave my fingers with oil if I touch them, they dont seem dirty outside some tiny grains

Leaving the EU is only a (Minor) economic issue for sellers. Buyers have more power than you think.

>wanting to pay extortionate prices for EU brands
>extortionate
Even in an unlikely worst case scenario where the EU puts in retarded tariffs (Which they do anyway to non eu countries and it hasn't forced them to accept any "extortionate" deals with huge prices or the removal of sovereignty) specifically on the UK you can just buy through a third party online seller that has it cheaper due to the lack of tariffs everywhere else in the world.

If the UK has a demand for EU skate products the EU will not be able to prevent them from selling their products in the UK with tariffs as both ends of the trade want to gain value.

The seller values the money more than the product and the buyer values the product more than the money. If the EU tries to raise tariffs to spite the UK all it would be doing is harming it's own economy as the seller would not be able to charge enough money to make a happy trade that the seller is WILLING to pay for. Again if we can't buy directly we can buy through a proxy that will not have these supposedly "extortionate deals" imposed upon them.

I would argue being in the EU is already extortionate. Are you really willing to let someone else run your country just to trade with them?

Reminder that the EU's main tariff is it's import tariff for members which is much more prohibitive than it's "export tariff" that the remain campaigners seem to go on about, so being in the EU makes the US skate companies more expensive as anyone in the UK can clearly see on the price tags in their skate store.

>wanting to pay for a visa to go skate MACBA
If it's harming tourism (It would) the visa price should go down to almost nothing especially in Spain due to their terrible economy and unemployment at the moment. There may be a tiny fee for administration costs but again as a buyer they have to work around you.

Just found out they can't even discriminate against us if we leave either so we won't even need to pay third party suppliers.

Nordic here. Hopefully UK will leave. It will create hope for the rest of the europe, that there's way to get rid of Sov... European Union.

I'm starting to wonder if a 7.5 deck is too small for me, I'm around 177cm/5'10 and my feet is 41-42 in yuro and american is like 8.5-9
Kinda have to have half my feet off the board when trying to ollie
Tried an 8 and I feel more stable but seemed harder to pop and hella weird
>>
>>1409089
cool video
>>
>>1409100
I went from 7.8 to 8.25 and it was the best decision in my life. Riding feels so much more fun and felt more stable. I didnt even notice any difference in terms of tricks, if anything they got easier due to more room on the board. Since it were your friends board it might have more to do with different trucks which are more loose or tight.
>>
>>1409100
My feet are a size 9 and I ride a 8.5
Find a size that comfortable for you, have you gave 7.75 a try?

I keep my front foot straight and make my back foot duck-toed, pointing way out. Same for front shoves. Vid related, I just learned these a few weeks ago.

Nice, if I had bigger trucks I would definitely try a big boy board. Especially Ryan Lay's pro model
>>
>>1408481
Damn, RIP Ipath
>>
>>1409145
His trucks were more tightened and heavier than mine

>>1409146
I'm still in the learning process but I was thinking of getting a 7.75 deck after I at least learn how to ollie properly and ollie stairs and grinds
I built my skate like 5 years ago and back then I believe 8 and bigger werent used for tricks and stuff, 7.5 was the to go size. At least it was what I got after researching
>>
>>1409214
In my opinion just go for 8-8.5 straight up if you want a fatter deck. 7.5 to 7.75 won't make much of a difference in terms of how much space your feet have on the board. Tricks aren't even more difficult on larger boards unless you go over 9, which is when it starts to get actually enough heavy/bulky to notice. Just my 2cnt.

Are Vans slip-on pros the best slip-on skate shoe? I really like the feel of slip ons when skating and was thinking of coping them
>>
>>1409228
Pretty much, it's a comfy chiller and the board feel is really good.
>>
>>1409241
Black with white or all black??
>>

Not him but I like the all black and the new black/bronze color way

Can anyone help me out with this problem in the Ollie?
I can do an ollie quite some times but either the board ollies in front of me or I only have my left leg on it(I'm regular) and my back feet and body stay behind as if it stayed in the same place while the board moved
>>
>>1409253
Black/white
>>
>>1409228
I see people skating those all the time around here, I have a pair for lounging around but can't imagine skating in them.they slip around on my foot a little. I guess mine are a half size too big or something. side note anyone prefer normal over pro for boardfeel or do you guys mostly skate the pros?
>>
>>1409430
Isn't the difference that the normal is canvas vs suede on the pro?
>>
>>1409430
Gotta skate the pro's, the canvas ones are done in a few minutes.
Also I don't even notice a difference in board feel between the two

ahh That makes sense, ollies would toast em quick if not.

the difference is in the insole, bit thicker and absorbs impact way better. I just bought some old skool pro's I like em so far.

I went through the same problem when I was learning ollies. You just really gotta commit and jump and the board will stick to your feet.

I skated right through my canvas slip-ons but I really like the feel so im goin pro for sure

Landed a bs180 today, sloppy but I'll get better. I want to be able to float it
>>
>>1409223

I somewhat agree with this but would just add that truck width makes a mmuuuuuccchhhhh bigger impact on the feel of the board than deck size, overall. The difference between 139, 149, and 159 is far more noticeable than changes in the size of the deck attached to them
>>
>>1409474

If you're at a park with perfect ground, sure.

Anywhere else they're practically unrideable
>>
I don't know if anyone would remember me but I'm the kid with hemophilia. I picked up the board again and I'm working on kick flips just for fun. I have no aspirations to be pro or even good at all but I feel like landing one would be amazing. My issue is I've been practicing them holding on to something. Like a rail. I'm too scared to commit without a safety net because if I fall wrong it could be a big problem, ie trips down to the center to get infusions 2 or 3 times a week for a month. Does anyone else hold on to shit practicing tricks? Is it really detrimental?

I remember you. Glad you're still skating despite that heightened risk.

I've never practiced while holding onto anything, so I can't say whether or not it'd be detrimental to landing tricks stationary, but I do know that practicing tricks stationary can hinder the rate of you learning to do them while moving.
>>
>>1409894

Your post reminded me of these 2 guys not because of their disability but because it's the only board-flipping-while-holding-on-to-something I could think of, in this case tho its crutches

is that you?

also, please remain in the EU.
>>
>>1410409
No, save up some cash and get a decent setup or a prebuilt
>>
>>1410502
but I want to start skating right here right now, not wait another fucking month for cash
also what's bad about a good used board?
>>
>>1410506
Just make sure the tail is not thin as paper, and that the deck doesn't have any cracks, or the sides have gaps between the glued part. Also check that the wheels actually spin, it's not any fun with shitty bearings as you practically will not move at all. If you don't have enough money for a new setup, an used one will do just fine.
>>
>>1410560
>the sides have gaps between the glued part
I'm not sure what you mean
>>
serious problem guys, I can't kickflip. I have been skating for 3 years and have gotten almost every trick in the bag. I can do lazers, tre flips, varial heels, hardflips and even backside flips. BUT I CANT DO A NORMAL KICKFLIP. I have the rotation down perfectly, but I chicken foot my front foot every damn time and just gave up and moved on, but now I just really want to be able to fucking do it in a game of skate. Any good ways to break muscle memory like that?
>>
>>1410577
He means delamination, deck consists from 7 plys of maple glued together, when they start losing the glue they kind of fall apart and get gaps inbetween the layers. This makes the board feel soggy and it will not last that long.
