I just started skating a few weeks ago and I got this Welcome board from my local shop. its a shaped board and I can't tell which way is the head or the tail; how can I?

I've been using the flatter end as the tail while doing some pretty heavy skating but I realized that the flatter end doesn't have as much pop as the other, so it came into question.

so i moved into a new town and went to the skatepark there today, was tight as fuck and made some pals but see I'm just upset cause of this fucker. its this weird ramp thing thats like really steep and I'm having commitment issues. I learned how to drop in on it but it feels so weird cause its like essentially vert for a foot. Locals were like doing axle stalls on it and shit and I couldnt even get up to do a rock to fakie or even attemp my first axle stall. How do I get better is it commitment or speed?

Idk if asphalt gives inspiration but when it's good asphalt there's nothing better.
Also, the streets do provide way more inspiration and let you get more creative. Parks are cool and if you're really good the sky's the limit, but if not you're stuck skating it the way it was built to be skated (because it was built to be skated).
You can't skate street everywhere though. I'm in a small town where everyone knows me so I can't skate around vandalizing shit too often and when I do it's at night.
I savor my bay area trips. They destroy my body and idk how much longer I'll be able to shred like I do.

Watch greyson fletcher or GT or some of the other new-era guys who skate padless. There is a technique to it, you have to get that technique and mindset down and you will be fine. You need to learn that big ramps offer an advatange which is that you can run down the transition or slide down on your ass luge-style if need be. I am at the point now where I greatly prefer skating large transition, that's right I seriously prefer it, because where I'm at now I feel like I have more time and space to navigate a slam into a safer spot or avoid it all together on large transition, whereas I find myself hurting myself on small miniramps and stuff more because there's no time to respond you just immediately slam to the flat. That being said I've been skating my whole life so maybe you're not there yet but once you are you will feel the same way that large tranny is safer. Sounds crazy but its true. Also not to be a dick but 6' is not big. 10' and up I would say is big.

I have had bad slams on large tranny too, but few..... Many more on smaller stupid stuff. I have locked up on large tranny on a backside air before, just looking up at the sky like 'oh, huh, well this isn't good' before just taking it straight to the dome. But even then I had time to kind of navigate my way through the air and I could've saved it if I hadn't been literally upside down

This is pretty much a flawless kickflip, Sheckler took the impact like it was nothing, he didn't have to mind his balance at all because his center of mass never moved away from the center of his board.

Some tricks are really hard to land bolts though and if you're just doing them on flatground it won't really matter because you can just compensate by flinging your arms around or something, steez is completely subjective but from a physical perspective bolts is the way to go.

They're awesome. Would recommend. Definitely helped reduce heel bruising and pain. Have three pairs. The only minor gripe is they make your shoes slightly tighter so I have to wear one size up. No problem, you adjust easily.

I ride 8.5 with 159s and usually 56s.. If you just start out doing frontside 180s low down on the transition , you can get the feel for how they work and how you have to float them, from there work your way up, you might get stuck doing them AT coping level for awhile, taking them above the coping just means having to float them longer, you want to land them down into the transition, not on the top of the wall at all. And doing them backside you can just do the same thing, start low and work your way up, you have to whip your back foot or shoulders more than you do with front side though. Learning them on 4' or small transition can be hard at first so do them low down on large transition and then take them to smaller ramps once you're good at them.

You could also learn to do early grab airs they're ridiculously easy, and once you get good at them it isn't hard to fudge them over the coping. Some people who do Indy airs out of coping are basically just doing the early grab motion and grabbing at the very last second, and they end up looking cool
