Sorry I fell asleep, here's the MSpaint - I remember there being tan around the Yin Yang symbol I'm pretty sure and that it had something to do with X Games maybe? I tried searching variations of all this but google returned nothing. Efforts are probably in vain but I'm trying anyways.

Also yeah I heard 8 might just be better for me, the board I have right now is a 7.75 and my feet definitely feel a bit big on it. I already longboard from time to time to cruise around so I'm kinda excited to get back into trying to do tricks and all

What's up with those kids that scream 'redo' whenever you land something sketchy in the game of SKATE.
Makes me want to just stop playing and do something else instead.
>>
>>1359920
If your toes drag the ground, or your tail/nose scrapes the ground hard it's a redo in my opinion. Don't give a fuck if its just sketchy, tell them to fuck off and go skate.
>>
>>1359959
Btw, does anyone even enjoy flatground S.K.A.T.E? I find it boring and only play SKATE on spots, for example a curb, gives it more variety and makes it more fun.

>Just curious, how often do you guys skate?
>Do you skate everyday and if so for how long?

Everyday, rain or shine, no excuses. About an hour or so in the morning before work, 4+ hours after work. It's a mental game, working through the pain. Not trying to be a tough guy but you learn to enjoy the punishment. Got a lot of steam to blow off. Just gotta remember to get lots of rest afterwards. Get some fresh legs for tomorrow.

When feeling unmotivated, I watch random skate videos. Never fails to get me pumped.

Every big company deck is pretty much the same, it's not really a process you can fuck up on. Excluding the carbon fiber, and bamboo decks, i have heard they last longer but don't quote me on that. I would support smaller local companies for decks, i have rode local small deck company for a good year now, they last just as good.
>>
>>1360270
And the people who call out a company for making shitty decks that break easily, are the same people who call baker decks shit, but deathwish decks good.
>>
>>1360270
Thanks man. I was looking around and saw a video about Revive boards being super durable and was wondering if most are durable like that, like I said I'm a bigger guy.

I'm from Houston so I'm hoping there are some local brands around here that are good stuff. Some of the stores and skate shops around here have closed down actually so it's a Little sad.

>>

It seems a little hard to believe that John Cardiel chose this as his graphic. From his interviews, one wouldn't expect Marcos as his choice for his board graphic.
>>
>>1360277

Those revive decks are 100% the same as any other deck .. that being said, if you really care enough to spend extra $$$ on your first deck, the "Impact" decks from Almost Skateboards actually have carbon fiber inserts between the plys. They're the only deck atm that is doing something different from everyone else but they will cost more. Also just buy shop decks from your local skateshop for $35 a board and then not care if you break them
>>
>>1359713
Once or twice a day, thirty minutes to an hour unless I'm in a different city and want to cruise/sightsee. Otherwise I rapidly get bored skating by myself.

I'm making good progress, and it's fun to do, but once I feel exhausted enough to stop I rarely find a reason to keep skating around, especially in this heat.

>>
>>1361968
for me, I think it all comes down to having to go to the same skatepark. I rarely visit other spots which is a bummer. Hope that changes now that it's summer.

Jay Adams used to say: "it's not what you do, it's where you go". If you watch Ricky Oyola's epicly later'd, he speaks in pride of the spots he found out and made.
You gotta change scenery, new spots give you inspiration.
I will agree with whomever says that I should try new stuff at my familiar spots however.

Some bearings come with spacers to fill the empty inner area between the two bearings, looks like those just have the spacers built into the inner race itself. If the new bearings you get dont come with spacers like that don't worry about it, they're not actually necessary. I wonder what brand those are though

The best thing about progressing in skateboarding is the actual understanding you get. Instead of just kicking your feet in a movement that your met told you to, you start to figure to what your feet need to do to make the board spin and flip and shit. It's a very satisfying feeling.

Talking about the anon that was thinking about the carbon fiber board? Cause that's me. Itll be a little before a good picture or any video because I don't have any bearings till a week or so. The ones on the axles right now are fuckin awful, wheels basically don't spin at all.

I think I'll be able to still practice standing kick flips and Shuvit and things like that though, thankfully.

Half the WWE posts are made by WWE shills in Hartford, or by marketing people associated with the individual wrestler themselves... Of course manchildren who watch a fake fight are so easy to dupe that they don't realize its shills. There have been threads on QA about forcing them into a WWE general but /asp/ is probably low priority for 4chanteam

Are you seriously so fucking gullible that you don't realize Hartford has entire teams of people that run online and social marketing for their assets (wrestlers)? Even wrestling writers who work outside of kayfabe themselves talk about how they're recruited by WWE to write "third party" pieces about the topics that WWE wants as a way to get their foot in the door as an official writer. Its how the company works, its not tinfoil at all, its more retarded to genuinely believe that they're NOT astroturfing forums when they spend so much time astroturfing twitter, FB, and their entire product is completely scripted and fake to begin with. Why do you think they're always talking about how TMZ is reporting whatever story they want to push on their episodes?! Because TMZ lets them pay for "native content" advertising that they can then reference on their show since no non-WWE-paid entity would ever report on what their """""stars""""" do since no one gives a fuck.

Do you still believe in the tooth fairy too? You fucking clowns could just post in one or two threads and no one would give a fuck but because you're so fucking autistic you're literally incapable of that. Inb4 "lol words" "lol mad" since that's the only reply you literal retards ever have.

long story long: up until the Bones Brigade and Tony, skateboarding was seen through the same prism as surfing, meaning there was a given amount of maneuvers one could do and the factor that mattered was individual style i.e. could you skate bro?
Then, people started doing tricks on flatground and Tony thought "what if I did a trick on vert?" But the saying was "tricks are for kids, pools are for men". Admiteddly, most of the old guard couldn't bother to learn some new tricks and tricks made skateboarding more interesting to people outside of the traditional marke...ehmmmm, I meant community of California, because they were spectacular: three friends skating, all doing frontside airs, is interesting to those 3 friends because they are friends and can distinguish between each others progress and style, but to an outsider, it's 3 people doing the same thing.
Combine that with the advent of the ollie (the no-handed aerial) and suddenly a world of different grabs and tricks opens up.
And Tony was on the team that brought this step ahead, he was then and there and kickstarted it. By the end of the eighties, when vert was slowing down and street became the third discipline, Tony had already a network of connections, money and respect to start a brand that would bring him recognisability in the 90s through street skateboarding. To be fair, he hasn't stepped down from a board since he turned pro and always had that Powell-Peralta striving to be at the top of your game, but he's simply the face of the industry today because he made/was part of profitable business decisions through all of the eras of skateboarding: vert/backyard ramps, street skateboarding emergence, dawn of arena events and video games era and that's why everybody talks about him.
By his own (among others) admission he never was the best skateboarder out there and he never had the best style.

For some reason I can't even hold a manual for a split second unless I have a visual goal to consider. Like, from one line of a sidewalk to the next. Sometimes I'll fall under that goal, rarer than that I'll exceed it and clear two.

But either way, I can hold manuals longer when I have a goal I can see. Anyone else been this way? Did you overcome it in time?

I was looking into vans old skool pro, or sk8 hi's but everywhere i check online, the price comes to around 100$ (I live in canada if that makes a difference). Got some holes after 6 months and with shoe goo it's been about 7. About to replace with the same pair again. Suede all over.

Check local shops. Prices online are fucking retarded for some reason and I don't know why. I was checking on amazon for myself and they're like 50 in the states but they're 100ish here. Then again, our dollar is retarded right now.

Your board will go as high as you're willing to jump. Trust me. Popping the tail helps get it off the ground, it doesn't do much in terms of how high the board goes (you can ollie without the pop).

Focus on getting the board up and leveling it in the air so you land on all four wheels at about the same time. Your hang time will let you know how high you're getting off the ground.

>>1371538
Also this. Comin from someone that started off practicing them stationary, if you get too comfortable with that then learning them rolling will feel like a tall order.

I keep rotating when doing an ollie. What is causing this?
>>
>>1372003
So if I'm understanding you, I'm supposed to be doing a lot more lifting with my legs than the board? That is a new approach for me. What I've seen made me think an ollie is more like slamming the tail and letting the board spring you into the air. I guess I'm not understanding the fundamental forces I'm supposed to be applying.
>>
>>1372034
Keep your shoulders straight, square over the board. This advice alone didn't work for me at first.

I remedied it by pointing my front foot up/diagonal rather than perpendicular until I got moving ollies down. Maybe something clicked.

Yes, dragging your foot up the board is what helps it climb, not just the pop. It's what puts holes in your shoes.

If it were the other way around, you wouldn't need to drag your foot to get the board up. Instead, your foot would "hover" just shy of it until you wanted to level out. I actually saw it that way for a few weeks myself when I was learning. Quickly learned that it wasn't the case.

Yeah i've been trying that for a while. maybe I'm just not doing it right? heres another
>>
>>1372050
Okay, so then would you say an ollie is like popping the front wheels up to reduce friction and then shoving the board forward into the air with you attached? That is how I'm visualizing it now.

an ollie does require slamming the tail down, but that shouldn't be the focus. think about this: when you jump without a board, you will push against the ground. similarly, when you ollie, you will push against the tail. this should happen naturally, and you should focus on the front foot instead, dragging it towards the nose
>>
>>1372034
>>1372053
i see this a lot in beginners. in fact this kind of happens sometimes when i do it switch. it'll correct itself over time, don't worry about it
>>
>>1372053
Changing your front foot angle or the shoulder thing? I found it especially hard to do the latter, while the former fixed it instantly, I think.

Could be different for you, but you'll find something that works for you the more you practice.

>>1372060
Don't get science-y. I've tried that. It's only as complicated as you make it seem.

It's just jumping forward and popping the board down, while you drag your foot as you go forward. I agree with >>1372069 though, focus more on getting your front foot to drag. Nothing will happen without that.
>>
>>1372069
This guys knows whats up. Jumping off the ground requires you to 'bounce' and spring off the ground. Ollies are pretty much the same, the force you have when you go down should be you popping, and 'springing' off the ground, dragging your foot up the board, jumping and tucking your knees in, bringing the board with you.
>>
>>1372069
>>1372080
Okay I think I definitely understand now, my front foot was probably focused too much on pushing down to stay on the board instead of sliding across. Thanks.
>>
>>1372236
And second, definitely didn't realize it was supposed to be a more natural jump instead of springing off the board.

put your feet on the bolts, lean back a little, push your back foot out in front of you, make sure you're spreading your weight equally between both trucks, when you feel your momentum forcing you to lean forwards just snap the board back into the regular direction.

I saw some anon cover his board with chalk which got me thinking. You should put some chalk on your leading foot and ollie. If the chalk mark curves, then thats your problem. Make sure it goes straight. Voila. Do this and post images for us.
