The more guns and gear you have, the more it tends to take room. How do you store your stuff? In your closets, under your bed, in boxes, or just on the floor?

Responding to my own post while at it: personally, I have my gear organized by content in a few boxes in the corner of my room. As I don't want my rifles getting all dusty, but they don't fit in the boxes, I keep them in my dresser. Fatigues and such go in my wardrobe along with other clothes.

>>1343239
Comfortable, covering clothes. Fairly light so you can stay active without dying from heat. Bonus points for subdued colours. For shoes, you want decent ankle support.

>>1343247
You got a sharp eye, I give you that. But what can I say - when you absolutely, positively need catharsis, accept no substitute.

>>1343256
True, but I fail to see your point. It's something we all know already, or at least should.

Bumping the properly formatted general.

I have a question for /asg/, do you usually buy stuff brand new from a retailer or do you browse b/s/t forums and look for used items at a discount? I personally buy most stuff used, only received one dud so far and I paid dud prices for it. Overall if you're buying adult used guns and gear it seems like its a great way to save some dosh.
>>
>>1344318
I've bought gear this way, but never guns. If I was more if a tinkerer I probably would, but I hate enigmas and dealing with other's problems. As a rule, I would never buy used electronics.
>>
>>1344334
Yeah I'm with you on the electronics but people are usually honest with the guns condition, although if they weren't I don't mind the tinkering.

Discord is nice, you can just run it in a web browser, and set a push-to-talk button, and you can set it to not notify you, and it doesnt spam you with 400 missed messages every time you open the client, and it has push notifications to the phone app.

Don't the Rangers in Metro write Sparta with a lightning bolt - S, instead of the cyrillic one?

At least that's what my memory tells me.

>>1345210
Depends. For example, the British SF10 gas mask is capable of taking a BB hit from what I've understood, due to it's different lenses compared to the S10. The FM12, which is it's descendant, has clear ballistic outserts available, meant for use with Simunition rounds. Sadly, they don't fit S10/AR10/SF10.

Picture semi-related, it's SF10 tinted outserts after I did some empiric testing with a 3J sniper rifle. Never tested the gas mask lenses itself.

What's the smallest non-LiPo battery available right now?

I'm trying to build a custom airsoft gun (3D printed receiver) but I'm a bit tight on space so I can't squeeze in a 4.5 inch long battery pack. .

I'd like to avoid LiPos if I can but if there's no other way I'll use them.

Look into lipos that are meant for RC helicopters. You're not exactly going to get a long battery life, but they'll fit.
Quadcopter ones would be even smaller, but you would either need to change the connector or get/make an adapter.

So I'm gonna get a Raider L. Is it even necessary to get another mag? 450 seems like a lot especially when I'm going to be using semi.
>>
>>1346168
Mags are dumb cheap, you can get 10 midcaps for like 6 bucks a mag or just buy 3 more high caps at like 8 a piece and just not worry about it.
>>
>>1346168

>>
Are there ani semi-decent G36 and decent M4 drum mags you guys would recommend? Preferably mobius ribbon shape (horizontal "8"), doesn't have to be self-winding, if it is, then I would like if there's a way to put a LiPo in it. I'm not afraid of a little soldering.
>>
Okay you niggas, I need a bolt action for plinking and fun, that's possible to upgrade in the future, so VSR standard is a must.
I'm dead set on JG BAR-10, I'll probably throw a better barrel, hop-up and chamber after a while, and a CO2 mancraft stock kit if I want to skirmish with it.
Are there any chink VSR clones that are as good as BAR-10? Cyma 702 for example? I'd go for a TM but shops stopped ordering TM ages ago and I'd really prefer to buy replicas locally.

Some people wear Crye and LBT gear and cover their plastic chink sewing machines with real AR15 furniture and you think 200$ hoodie is the most extravagant thing ever? There's anon in our general who bought a fucking 1000$ Acog scope for his 1500$ toy gun that shoots 100m at max. People who don't need to think how they are going to afford their rent next month can buy nice things with their money because they can afford it without breaking sweat. Do you think your neighbour is able to ride his Honda RC213 even close to its limits? Why didn't he buy a smaller and cheaper bike? He's definitely not getting the full value out of his bike. What about Jay Leno? He probably has a different car for every day of the month. Isn't that little overkill? Anyone could live comfortably with Toyota Corolla. Go ask your mother what's the most she's spent on a handbag, shoes. Do you think Putin should wear ingenuine Adidas clothes like the rest of his people?

AB isn't great for your motor. A better solution to solve over-spin with high voltage is to get a really really really fucking torquey motor.

Also, who /south england/ here?

One of the reasons I'm buying a computerized mosfet is because of the 'smooth' break that supposedly helps not putting so much strain on the motor compared to basic ab mosfets . Well, I did my share of reading and decided to fuck it, I'll save some money and go all out on something that doesn't need a new trigger box or shit outside of the box, or when I have enough money to not care when I screw something up, which I often do. They are. It's just that EU shops overprice stuff up the ass for no apparent reason, with very few exceptions.

To put it in perspective, it's cheaper for me to buy a replica literally anywhere in the globe and pay the shipping fee than buying the exact same replica in EU. It's even more noticeable with certain brands like Tokyo Marui.
>>
>>1350756
Maybe there's taxes or permits or some shit when it comes to selling replicas, so they have to charge higher prices.
>>
>>1350784
That's not the case, I've been to shops that sell for around the same pricetag as Evike. Also, the overpricing isn't exclusive to replicas. Scopes, BDUs, accesories, you name it, even the damn bbs are significantly more expensive here if you go for premium brands here.
Not like I care anyways, as long as the prices stay they way they are I'll keep buying gear from different internet sources like I've done with everything minus the goggles.

This, hicaps are cack, you're just substituting proper reloading with fiddling with a winding wheel intermittently.

Also I have never experienced reliable feeding on those things, at best you'll get a consistent stream if you hold the gun upside down but even then you have to stroke the wheel.
>>
Would hop up work on a musket ball?
>>
>>1351048
Do it unless the event has rules forbidding it.
Anyone that spergs out about it has a problem.
>>
>>1351760
Force of the musket ball would probably destroy any hop up unit and a hop up system would allow gasses to escape in ways that would interfere with the shot.
>>
>>1351575
If you like revolvers there's a 12 shot magazine mod for them on evike for about 25 buckaroos. Its a drop in cylinder that takes circular mags similar to those capgun ones and the mags are dirt cheap. While it may not look as cool as handling shells it makes revolvers practical.
>>
>>1351760
I suppose in theory it would, but the mass and velocity of a musket ball is much greater than that of a bb, so applying back-spin would be very difficult.

I don't really mind the egg smell (it's subtle and I rarely get a whiff of it, it also dissipates fast), also I don't know if my WE is rated for propane, I don't know a lot of about this gas pressure stuff.
>>
>>1352506
Green gas is essentially propane with lubricants added.
>>
>>1352509
Ah, I see, does it have any benefit to use one over the other besides cost?
>>
>>1352524
If you don't want to bother with adding some silicon oil into your mags by dropping some into the port before adding gas every 10 or so refills then propane is cheaper. If you don't want to bother with that then green gas has the lubricant already in it for no hassle mag maintenance.
>>
>>1352557
If you don't mind having to bother with*
Wasn't paying attention there.
>>
>>1352524
It's like 5x cheaper by weight, so it's foolish to not use propane. Just make sure you keep your seals loobed
>>
>>1352573
I only ever bring my guns out a few times a year to shoot them, I don't mind paying a little more for less maintenance.
>>
>>1352573
I just checked and 465~gr of propane cost slightly more than 23grams of green gas.It really is worth buying propane if you don't mind the hassle of having to silicone the port.
I've noticed that a lot of the propane tanks happen to be mixed with other stuff, butane mostly. I guess those are not good to go for airsoft?

Green gas just happens to be convenient. Not only because of the silicone but because the cans are lighter to carry and because the tanks I'm seeing need some kind of adapter as far as I can tell. And even then, those tanks are 1kg and an adapter can probably be bought for next to nothing.
>>
>>1352699
I haven't noticed any issues with using Coleman stove propane. Potentially there could be a very gradual decay if butane is in the mix but I doubt anything would happen until the mag needs maintenance due to worn out parts anyways.
>>
>>1352734
Coleman is supposedly pure propane. Can it be used for mag refilling as it is or did you get an adapter?

Quick Survey
What is your preferred methods of aiming in airsoft?
For me I sight my irons for under 125-ish feet and use either an optic or guide the rounds in past that range since I don't like fiddling with my hop up and ruining the setting I like. For .25s this works perfectly but I bet I could up my irons to almost 200 with heavier bbs.

Nah, part of the fun is reloading the shells. If I wanted more shots I'd get a NBB. In forest games sidearm wasn't really useful until now, so I'm fine with six bullets and frantic reloading in case someone pops too close in front of me.
>>
>>1352673
But it's not a little more money. It's a lot more you are paying for very little maintenance, which should be routine anyway, even if you used green gas.
>>
>>1352745
You will always need an adapter since you need a fill valve.
>>
Anyone else getting the Krytac Alpha? I'm considering getting the Alpha considering that it's just basically a regular CRB with a different rail system but the same internals.
>>
>>1352749
I paintball it. Estimate the first shot, follow up with two more. Youre kidding yourself if you think BBs are accurate enough to warrant a scope or similar, unless you're fooling around with a sniper rifle and need all the help you can get.
>>
>>1352769
A 2 to 4X scope on an AEG can definitely help in thick terrain or cover at a distance.
>>
what's /asg/'s opinion on the WE G17? I currently own one, its a beautiful shooter, and with 50rd mags makes for a lovely primary for cqb. would it be worth HPA tapping muh 50rd mags?
>>
>>1352787
I hope you plan on getting a stronger nozzle.
>>
>>1352769
>accurate enough to warrant a scope or similar

a scope can help you find hard-to-see targets through thick brush

also it can be really hard to see the tip of an unpainted front sight against a forest, and parallax elimination is really handy for giving extra eye relief when you're wearing a lot of eye protection
>>
>>1352787
Why bother? Cant it fire the whole mags worth off of propane?
>>
>>1352787
in all honesty, its not worth tapping the mags, we glock mags are really good, so unless you live in an area that gbb are affected by weather then I see no reason to hpa it.
>>
>>1352749
I use a 4x32 for distant shots. Flipt-to-side it and use a reflex sight for closer encounters.
Anything bigger than 4x makes the bbs look all over the place when aiming down but after some tweaking I managed to set the bb trajectory surprisingly accurate to the reticle unless there's heavy wind, and even then I can still see the trajectory just fine.
>>
>>1352799
I found the same thing myself as the scope allows me to guide them in at range more easily. It could be because I have astigmatism and thus shit vision at range though.
>>
>USD$2742.00

No, if I'm paying 2000+ dollars for a weapon, it'll be a real one, like a Desert Eagle pistol with multiple calibers in a kit, or a transferable Sten submachinegun.

Does shemagh color matter?
>>
>>1352983
Get a red one so everyone mistakes it for a dead rag and you can surprise kill them.
>>
>>1352992
I was worried about that with my red one
>>

Matters for what?
Matters if you are a /fa/irsofter I guess or if you want to wear one that suits your camo but that's about it.
>>
>>1352999
Is it going to give me away?
>>
>>1353001
Depends on what kind of field you are playing I guess, but yes it can give away your position even though that's not something that should necessarily happen. If you are too worried about that just wear one that fits best the environment colors.
>>
>>1353001
Get one in a subdued color and you won't have to worry.

So I made a huge mistake

I bought a Ver. 3 gearbox off Evike back in March because I thought my gearbox was screwed. Turns out that I just forgot the tappet plate when I took it apart for maintenance.

Now it's just sitting in my room, and it was $50 down the drain. Where can I sell this to get rid of it? Can't return it because it's past the return date.
>>
>>1353239
Ebay, craigslist, r/airsoftmarket, or a facebook group if you can find one.

Same. First skirmishable piece was a Crosman Stinger/DE M47 shotgun. First AEG was a Cybergun Thompson.

Dad got one for me in middle school when I did really good on my report card. I still remember how oddly responsible I was with it. Like, the whole magazine out, safety on, BBs in another drawer, etc. Nowadays I'm like Cokeman with these things.

Also it couldn't even pierce a soda can filled with water but I was somehow afraid of getting shot by it.
>175 FPS with .12s

>>1353308
Just be wary that when evike says boneyard it doesn't mean just internals are bad, it could be a trashed exterior. I think you'll probably be ok though.
>>
>>1353459
Are you me hahaha I left it out but my second gun after that was a crosman stinger shotgun pistol combo

My problem with green gas is that there's waay too much oil, and it fucks my bucking and I have to go wash it so it actually hops again. But I only tried this one brand from my friend so it could vary.

If you want to jew really hard, they sell propane refill adapters to refill the two pound tanks from the huge 20 pound ones. Got mine from harbor freight. You can then refill the huge ones from Costco.

Oil is cheap too, this will last just about forever.

Hell yeah but that fucking nozzle keeps breaking.
>>
>>1354008
Get a CO2 powered sidearm.
Tapping your sidearm is inconvenient because you want to be able to quickly grab, use and reload it. Tapping the mags makes it impossible for you to do those things (unless you have a two-way tank, only use HPA on the sidearm or you carry an extra tank just for the sidearm). Tapping is a cheap way of using HPA but is generally disliked for a reason even by the people using it.
Using it on your carbine? Understandable yet still not desirable, you run out of bbs but you can get into cover and reload wasting 2-3 more seconds than you normally would. 2 or 3 seconds in cq is a helluva lot of time.

In my opinion tapping should only be done on DMR and Sniper rifles.
>>
>>1354139
What about for MGs? Tapping seems reasonable for that.
>>
>>1354213
I think I've never seen anyone carrying a tapped MG but yes, MGs would be a good tapping option.

I recently bought a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6 for my main AR. I absolutely love this sight and I'm thinking of running it for airsoft as well. Does anyone have any experience with Vortex and their VIP warranty when it comes to something like a lens being shot out? I'd hate to be out $320 if that's not covered.

Any advice on a shotgun for airsoft?
>>
>>1354894
I would say now is a really good time for shotguns in airsoft because if the options available. If you want cheap, a Tri-shot is your best bet for a reliable and affordable shotgun with minimal maintenace. For gas look into a TM M870 gas shotgun, it'll run you a good 300 but I've only ever heard good things. Lastly is the AA-12 which will run you at least $400 but its AEG which is pretty cool.
>>
>>1354894
Get some cheap tri-shot and prepare to get your ass kicked in every cqb game.
>>
>>1355032
So it is not a viable option?
>>
>>1355047
They used to be a great option, but we're in the era of HPA and AEG guns with instant trigger response.
