/herp/ reptile classifieds for finding breeders of various scaled and sundry creatures

>kingsnake.com
>faunaclassifieds.com
>reptilescanada.com (Canadian breeders)
>Also check to see if there are any annual reptile shows/expos in your area as these are good places to find good animals from good breeders at partial discount

/herp/ officially official all purpose care sheet of wonder and magic

>sand a shit
>use a thermostat
>read all the caresheets
>set up your tank before you get your herp
>regulate temps & humidity levels prior to herp arrival
>do not fuck with (handle) your herp for at least 7 days after bringing it home and ideally wait until herp has eaten at least one meal (for snakes), two meals for lizards, frogs, etc.
>PVC tanks are way better for most applications and worth the extra money
>it is best to avoid chain pet stores when looking to purchase live animals as mass breeder suppliers are not especially careful about health and sound genetics... it often saves you money long term to spend a little extra up front to get a healthy animal

Do any of you guys know why I keep getting fucking frogs and turtles in my backyard after it rains? My neighbors don't have this problem, and the closest creek is about five blocks away. Is something attracting them? I don't have a pool or anything, so I have no clue why its always my yard. I end up having to ship them off to the creek because my doggo doesn't know how to leave small animals alone.

sup /herp/ ball python question here

my normal BP is estimated to be 2-4 years old by the vet. he weighs just over 1000 grams and is fed 1 small rat per week which he has only refused a couple times.

it's been 4 months and 3 days since his last shed. should i be concerned? everything i'm reading on the internet has 2 months as the maximum shed. he looks really healthy, not skinny, and has gained almost 300 g since i got him about 6 months ago. seems healthy as a horse...any insights?

The frequency of sheds isn't really too important. Back when my bp was being a problem feeder, he shed maybe once or twice a year. Now that he's eating regularly, he sheds anywhere from every 1 month to 4 months.

I just had a boa go 9 months without shedding despite growing 7"-8" as of her last measurement (and she could have grown another inch or two since then) and over 200 grams in that period of time. Pic related.

They shed when they shed, as long as the snake is eating and appears healthy I wouldn't worry.
>>
I'm working on a height extension for one of my crested gecko tanks. It's a wood frame that will add 8" on top of the existing 18x18x18. Frame went together fine but I got stuck on how to seal it. I know the usual route to go for arid climate herps with wood enclosures is polyurethane (Varathane Diamond water based). And that would work well for this project but I wanted to get some experience working with more robust sealers that can stand up to having damp substrate sitting on them 24/7. The plan being to build complete tanks with wood in future.

It was surprisingly difficult to find good information on this. Best bet is epoxy but that stuff is so expensive I may as well just buy a commercial tank and forget about the diy. Finally figured it out. Pic related. Non-toxic liquid rubber. Zero VOC. It's used for sealing concrete ponds. And is pretty reasonably priced in comparison to marine epoxy/epoxy resin.

Will post my height extension when it's complete. Getting close now.

>>
>>2321228
What do you want to breed? For one animal it's a lot of effort. Roaches (Dubias) would probably be ok since they basically take care of themselves. They take a long ass time to grow up though.
>>
can ball pythons live well within a vivarium with moderately high humidity?
thinking of going with a rain forest that has living soil.
>>
>>2321259
Yeah, I was mostly thinking of dubias, because of their price and how easy they are to mantain. Is it actually worth it?
How could I keep other live insects until the animal eats them all (not breed them, just have them)?
>>
>>2321198

Dubias beat crickets in many categories. If you buy them it's always safer to get Dubias since crickets can easily carry parasites (not saying they will I just avoid the risk)

>>2321280
I also raise Dubia so I figured I'd get in on this. Dubia grow slow but they are hearty and you do 1 male to about 5 females.

I have a bearded that eats larges already at an early age so if you go through a lot of them it might be worth it.

Basically they like to be kept humid and have a heat between 80-90 (85 is best). I have a small tester colony right now. I use catfood (you can use actual Dubia chow) for protein and potatoes for water (water crystals are best but potatoes work). Then I use misc veggies and change that and the potatoes out every other day to prevent mold.

As long as you keep them with food and water + good temps you should be fine. Also when you get nymphs don't clean out the Dubia poop because they eat that when they start off.

Egg crates make good hides for them and make cleanup easier when you need to change things out.

She looks good. And sorry from before I couldn't tell if it was genuine or a smart ass remark hah.

Will yours take Dubia or crickets? I can only get the girl I rescued to take mealworms and an occasional wax worm.
>>
>>2321276
Yeah, moderately high is great as long as it has a dry area to retreat to when it needs to.
I used to keep one like that and it always had perfect sheds
>>
>>2321280
Well once it's set up you have a very good food supply because you know exactly what you fed them. Better nutritional value than crickets too and lower chance of parasites like >>2321297 said.
Setting up a colony is pretty easy, they just need it warm.

You need a plastic box with a lid, cut a hole in the lid and glue fly screen on it for ventilation. Then set up a 35W halogen spot so you get a temp of 95 at the top (where the Dubias actually are it will be lower, like 85-90 is ideal. An inch of soil gives the nymphs something to burrow in (some people keep them on their dry food, which I don't think is very hygienic). One bowl for dry food (you can use dry dog or cat food, but there are actual roach/insect food mixes) and another bowl for wet food (vegetables, occasionally fruit, add calcium powder) that you should change before it starts molting. Fill the rest of the container with egg cartons for them to hide under.

Also you don't keep them wet, if you do you will get problems with mites and mold eventually. My substrate is bone dry and they're doing fine. I spray the egg cartons once a week but never the food.

Also give them protein (like dried Gammarus) occasionally. That way they don't chew off each others wings and antennae. When they don't eat the dead ones it's a sign that they have enough.
>>
>>2321302
>I can only get the girl I rescued to take mealworms and an occasional wax worm.

Have you tried killing a Dubia, cutting it open ventrally and waving it around in front of her?
>>
>>2321319

She has eaten smalls but only when I give her only small Dubia. I think it's just because she was raised on solely mealworms.

I've been doing wax so she can get more fat but I think I may break my rule and try a few crickets to see if she will eat them happily.

That or I may just have to rotate feedings with worms then just Dubia. I think part of it is how shy she is. She doesn't come out of her hide but to feed and when no one is around. She is getting better. I've been holding her for about 5 minutes every other night. I am hoping once she feels less frightened she will feel safer voyaging out to feed at any time and feel okay to hunt.

Didn't help they got her for a 2 year old so she is scared as fuck of contact (I know they don't care for or at best tolerate handling but she is very nervous so I have to be careful not to stress her even when feeding.)

A single male garter snake could probably live its life in a 20 long, and potentially a hognose snake although a female might outgrow it. I only know snakes though.

My anery motley was out looking for food and in a light phase so I brought him out. He ate just over a week ago, though, so he's still got about a week left before he eats again. I think he's already ready to move up a size in food, though.

Yes. It's not very difficult. You need to buy either clear acrylic sheet or glass for the front. Silicone the bottom third of it to the new 'bottom' of your tank to hold substrate. Majigger some kind of door and latch system for the top 2/3rds, this can be partly or all screen depending on how much airflow you need.

google 'diy tank conversion'.

I'm curious, a question for other boa owners.

Does your boa make noises other than normal breathing noises?

My example is while handling my snek it'll make little noises like tsh tsh and other shorter or longer variations.
>>

Yeah. They do really weird huffing/sneezing sounds if I'm irritating them but not enough that they're all that bothered. I once tried to take my anery motley out and he quite literally snort/hissed like an angry cat. It was weird, I'd never heard a snake sound like that before.

>>

Poor gecko, I hope she gets better. I think you're doing right.

Momo arrived a few days ago.
The first night I put some mealworms in a dish outside the hide and she ate them like crazy. (Owner said "nah she is not the kind of gecko that eats much") and me "wtf but she loves to eat!"

I think she might have enigma syndrome (gazes at the sky, walks a little funny, hunts clumsy) ..anyway she came out one time only.
Her other owner said she was always sleeping in one of the hides (Is this normal?) .

my gf has a pet mississipi map turtle that's 23 years old. would it distress it if I moved it to a bigger tank? I just found out she keeps it in a little tank with no basking area so I want to give it a bigger space but I don't want to kill the 23 year old family pet
>>
>>2323491
no. move it as fast as possible
>>
>>2323492
It's hibernating right now and I'm not gonna see her for another 4 weeks

do they not get stressed by changes?
>>
>>2323494

A little bit while they settle in but it will be beneficial long term. It will cause no harm. Make sure to take some of the old substrate from existing tank and put it in to the new one. That way it'll still smell like the turtle's territory and reduce moving stress. Same for some pieces of decor (unless they're filthy).

Yeah it just means it has bred before. If it's something like a jungle, it also means that a poss jungle was proven to be that morph. Jungles are a morph that has "low expression" animals, so you can't always tell if they're jungles until you breed them. A low expression jungle can produce high-expression jungles, so it can be easy to determine.

Fuck.. I am glad we rehomed these guys to us. From the armadillos having a feces laden cage, the Uromastyx being on calcium sand with only a heatpad.. the tiny 4-5inch hognose in a coconut mixed Aspen where I had to dig to find him (20gal).. to the cresteds that died from lack of food or mold (sadly we didn't get them in time). I am just glad these guys are home with us now. I feel bad for them. I'm just glad the rest of them are all okay.

Insulate back and sides of the outside of the tank with foamcore (big box hardware and art supply shops sell it). Cover half the mesh with aluminum foil. That will up your humidity a bit as well. If it's not enough you may need a ceramic heat emitter.

I'm wanting to get a snake and since i'm in colorado right now i was looking for some that wouldn't mind the lack of humidity so much. I'm thinking a hognose since i believe they are native here and i might just be able to find one, how are they as pets and what kinds of things do you look out for? Would it be better to have just a sterilite tub or would a more attractive setup work?
>>
>>2324499
Keep in mind, hognoses may be restricted or banned where you live because they're venomous, and some places may have restrictions on native species as well. Make sure to research your state, county, and city laws/ordinances.

A tub should do just fine for a set up, just make sure to drill enough holes and keep it on low-humidity bedding like Critter Care (Carefresh is a lot dustier and smellier so I don't like to recommend it) or aspen to keep the humidity lower.

I have two gargoyle geckos I've owned for nearly a month. They both like to jump from my hands and onto my chest, and begin climbing my hair. While both of them do this, only one of them begins squeaking when I try to remove it from my hair. They are not old enough for me to determine genders. Any smart anon know why this happens?
>>
>>2324746
Squeaking can mean several things.

Does it ever show body language like tail waving, puffing out? Any other noises like puffing and growling? Gaping or lunging?
>>
>>2324826

I've never noticed tail waving. I'm not sure what constitutes "puffing out." There hasn't been any growling or attempts to bite me. It does open its mouth wide like it's prepared to bite, but it never does.
>>
>>2324827
Well I mean that's pretty universal gecko language for "something is freaking me out"
>>
>>2324827
Open mouth, also known as gaping, is a defensive/aggressive posture. Your gecko is just upset you're picking it up out of your hair.
>>
>>2324746
Like the other anons said, it's a sign that your gecko is getting freaked out by you grabbing it. Some animals are just a bit more skittish than others. The best way to deal with the situation is just to keep handling the problem gecko until it starts to get used to you handling it. It'll probably warm up to you sooner or later, but it might take a bit of patience.

I WANT A MONITOR LIZARD

What is the best species for a condo? Also pros cons?
>>
>>2325432
Only monitor species you should consider for a condo is varanus acanthurus (Ackie monitors). Medium care difficult. Large tank required but not giant like you would need for tegus and other monitors. A 3' x 2' x 2' is sufficient for one, or a pair of females. They grow to roughly 24"-30" or so.

Look up some caresheets on them and see if their care is something you're up for. It's not that hard but is a bit more involved than snakes or geckos.

Blood I think her beak is of concern as well

Maybe she's too dry? Your substrate doesn't look very wet, failing that I'd maybe say it's some sort of skin infection or fungus? It looks really weird and dry though, like a callus or something. Maybe try a medicated or plain ointment to hydrate the spot a little bit, and moisten the bedding if it's dry to see if that helps. I'm no expert tho, but if that's not food in her mouth the beak really weirds me out. Post on a turtle forum too, there's a lot of info on those

Guys

I have a 60L aquarium with a broken lid which I am turning into a vivarium, probably. It has more height than dept, I want frogs in it.

Question is, would it be possible to keep 2-4 tomato frogs in coconut turf in the bottom and use the height to put in plants and such protruding from the back and upwards and keep like 2-4 exclusively tree/plant inhabiting common green tree frogs as well?

Wouldn't the similar species size and clear difference between inhabited sections of the terrarium/vivarium make sure it would be issue-free?
>>
>>2325787
The tomatoes are pretty gluttonous.
You'll need to make sure they dont hurt the greens and make sure they can actually eat.
The tank seems really overpopulated too.
I'd keep them separated
>>
>>2325793
Yeah a total of 8 frogs there would be too populated, I agree. Maybe I'll do a couple of each, maybe nothing at all. I'll build the thing first as an empty habitat and figure out what conditions I can keep stable and the figure out what can comfortably inhabit it, probably the best way to go about it right?

I own 11 Common Midwife Toads (more like 9 of those and two that came with them which I am not sure if they're the same species or not) and those don't require a lot of space and are currently houses in a terrarium that is like 120cm-30cm-40cm... That thing would house 4-6 tomato frogs EZ but it lacks the height for anything arboreal. Gf says she "doesn't like the idea of moving the tiny toads to a smaller enclosure" but I am 100% sure I could make a very efficient use of the 60L's space for them, but since it has more height than dept you can imagine why I'm a bit bummed about not making use of it for something that enjoys a lil more climbing.

>it's hard to find good priced amphibians in my cuckass country which is why I raised midwife tadpoles
>really like the idea of a pixie frog but they're a rare sale around here
j u s t
>>
>>2325798
If I were you I'd just get two tanks.
The tomatoes would like the one you have, but the treefrogs would definitely like more height in their enclosure.

If you want to utilize the height you can always put in heavy substrate and put plants in it. Think like 20cm of soil and a 6cm drainage layer.
>>
>>2325804
Alrighty
Thanks my dude

Maybe I'll build my own with even more height in mind, I gotta figure out how much it would cost. It's not easy to find good priced tanks in my country, everyone just uses online selling to jew eachother it's really ridiculous.

Just to clarify, you're saying tomatoes go on 120cm tank and midwifes onto 60L, right? Thx in advance.

Lives a pretty cushy life though, I usually do some kind of research every few days and try to keep him as happy and updated as possible. After I noticed him seriously watching the screen of my laptop while I was looking at aquarium vids, I started putting my iPad next to his tank at night and putting on documentaries after din-dins.

It's pretty cute watching him watch TV, there's something very entertaining about that intense reptilian stare

Your leo has some stuck shed on its nose. Make sure to put a moist hide in the tank. Also very lightly roll (don't rub) a moist q-tip on the stuck shed to loosen it. Don't worry if it doesn't come right off. The idea is to loosen and it will flake of on its own.

He's just in the mood to hunt and eat but really just one small rat is more than enough for him. My ball python does the same thing, and I sometimes feed her 2 adult mice, and even after the second she still is ready for more but I don't give it to her. Pacmanon here again. I'm worried about this little guy. He's refused to eat everything I've put in front of him, except for a single pinhead cricket that he ate when he arrived on Friday. I've offered him food every day. He has a heating pad, water, and I mist his tank twice a day. I thought these fellas were supposed to have appetites comparable to African Bullfrogs, so what am I doing wrong?
>>
>>2326177

How long have you had him? What, in addition to crickets, are you offering for food?
>>
>>2325983
Yes, they're still in feeding mode. A single small rat every other week is more than plenty for the vast majority of adult ball pythons. I wouldn't consider offering a medium to a bp under 2,000 grams (4'+), and I wouldn't offer them regularly to bps under 3,000 grams (5.5'-6'+).

Snakes will eat themselves to death (literally) if you let them, they're opportunistic and will eat whatever they can if given the chance. I've seen more than one wild snake bite off more than it could chew and die because of it. In captivity, it's more likely to be a slow burn sort of situation, but for the sake of your pet's longevity, try not to overfeed it.
>>
>>2326177
>>2326182

If it has only been four days so far, that's not a big deal. Offer some mealworms in a smooth sided glass dish they can't escape and leave them in for a couple days.

Yeah, I've given him crickets, mealworms, and small superworms. He doesn't want any of it right now.
Also, he buries himself very, very far into the substrate, so that I have to run my hands through the dirt to find him. When he gets under there, he seems to not want to come out. If I put the mealworms in a dish, will he even come out to find them?

>>
>>2326188
>If I put the mealworms in a dish, will he even come out to find them?

Yes, he will come out to investigate in the middle of the night when all is dark and quiet. I suspect the issue is just the stress of the move and acclimation period, plus you being present at feeding time. Leave mealworms in dish, stop digging him out, give it a week and I'm pretty sure you'll see those mealworms disappear over night.

By way of example, the longest I have had a reptile refuse food after moving in with me is 14 days. Gargoyle gecko. I just kept putting in fresh food every other day and left her alone. Drove me absolutely crazy with the extra long fasting time but she came around. Three years I have had her and she is one of my geckos who will wait sitting on top of her food dish when it's feeding day.
>>
My garg gecko ate all the food and now I've been handling him. I've been holding him for the past few hours it seems like he's been passed out he hasn't moved tried to get away or anything I don't know if he's scared of me or if he's comfortable he bit me twice before but now he hasn't even tried to bite me. I just saw a crestie at my local pet feed store, and I definitely wouldn't mind giving it a good home.
It's unsexed, its body was maybe 3 inches long without the tail.

The red flag here was that he is housed with tree frogs and some day geckos. I would have it in a separate tank, but should I be worried about spreading any disease to my other crestie?

What are good ways to lower humidity inside a terrarium? I live in Florida and I'm doing a dry run of my future leopard gecko enclosure and the hygrometer is currently reading 60% which is too high if I'm not mistaken. It's about 80F in my house because I haven't had the AC running (trying to save on energy because it's still February, dammit)

I went to my local pet store today to buy some frozen rodents and i saw they have a baby green tree python
I have zero experience with gtps but i could tell they were taking shit care of it the enclosure had wood chips on the bottom and the water bowl was empty it was in shed but it wad coming off in tiny flakes and pieces were all over the place etc
Im thinking of maybe getting him/her even though im not into high maintenance snakes just so it can get out of there and no trailer trash people buy it and torture it or something
my local pet store has a very shit demographic every time i come in theres clueless people buying exptic animals with no idea what to do with them
But this would also support them a lot because its almost 400 dollars i only ever buy the rodents there cause nobody else sells them

Lowering humidity in a terrarium is all about ventilation: having a constant airflow doesn't allow humidity to build up, which is why chameleons usually have all-screen setups and some gargoyle/crested gecko setups barely have open space for airflow.
I also live in a very humid place, so I always have an AC/fan on to reduce humidity in the air because of respiratory issues

>>
>>2326698
I'm going to have to agree with this anon. Relative humidity is going to do little to harm even a desert species, it's when you start getting condensation build up that it becomes a problem (if they're not something that needs insane amounts of humidity like a Brazilian rainbow boa).

So long as that's just the standing humidity it really shouldn't cause any issues. I've seen very little actual evidence of high humidity causing RIs or anything although condensation can cause scale rot if the bedding or whatever they're laying on is damp. Low humidity causes more problems than high humidity, in general.

You can lower the humidity by using a heat lamp during the day if you're that worried about it and aren't already using one.
>>
>>2326597

Overhead heat with a ceramic heat emitter instead of an undertank heater. However with your ambient already at 80 that probably won't work as you want get a large enough heat gradient (cool side will be too hot).

Ceramic or slate tile for substrate instead of any kind of loose substrate that can hold moisture. More airflow.

Anyway, good on you for figuring this stuff out before getting the actual animal. Lots of people skip this step and then do a bunch of fiddling while the gecko is trying to settle in.
>>
>>2326702

I know it sucks to see animals in shit conditions in stores but you're not helping anything by buying animals from said stores. The place will just bring in more and treat them equally poorly. If you think it's bad enough you can report the store to local animal control/spca type authority. They do issue fines and will shut places down if necessary. There was one particularly awful store in my city that had all animals seized by Humane Society. They went under shortly thereafter.

Best way to help is to take your business elsewhere as much as possible. Support good stores and breeders only.
>>
>>2326698
>>2326744
I read that they can develop respiratory infections in humid environments but there is definitely no condensation in the tank so if you say it'll be fine I'll just try a fan and check the levels. During the summer I run the AC 24/7 so it should go down. I'm planning to buy the gecko in early April (summer, in FL) at repticon. So I still have a good bit of time to get it straightened out.

>>2326758
I'm using ceramic tile and UTH as of now and my belly/ambient temps are spot on so I think you're right about the overhead heater being too much at this point.
And thank you for the compliment. I'm definitely a "planner" and I know it's difficult enough to acclimate an animal to a new environment without any added stressors.

Again, thanks for responding
>>
>>2326774
Sounds good. 60% is really not much of a concern for leos if the tank decor is dry. They do spent considerable time in humid caves in the wild, hence the use of a moist hide in their tanks. Should be fine.
>>
>>2326597
Damnit. I wish I had your problem. Have to wrap my cage up in a shower curtain when I mist just to get it over 50%. Also in FL btw.

Idk how you survive in 80° tho.

>>2326774
>I read that they can develop respiratory infections in humid environments
60% is humid for a person's house, but it's normal to dry for things in aquariums and animals that mostly live under rocks.

Too blury to tell if they are Cranwell's horned frogs or ornata horned frogs

Ornates are much more based as pets because they are extremely aggressive and voracious, much more than cranwell's who just sleep underground most of the time

Most horned frogs are labeled incorrectly. Ornatas have dots behind their eyes and usually aren't brown like cranwell's. Also all albino's are cranwell's

Why are people not breeding these more?
I used to see wild caught PTS for only 250 bucks at pet stores like almost 10 years. Never see them anymore.

It's sad that they wild caught though, as they're endangered and captive bred ones are super pricey

Such a based and intelligent species who's mother cares for it's young and they often live within a social groups.
I held a sub adult juvie at a petstore. I was told it's never been handled and it was at my own risk, didn't bite me. Just crawled up my arm and up to my face. I was crazy back then, apparently they are known for very powerful bite. Much more so than say, a blue tongued skin which is of similar size and can still bite pretty good.
It's claws were super sharp though and broke my skin a bit

Only for advanced keepers
>>
>>2326977
Extremely slow breeding. A female usually only carries a single young one, which takes up to eight months until birth. As you said, a baby lives with the group for a while, so it probably takes around a year from mating until one skink is ready for sale. Then comes the part where you are supposed to keep them in groups, so selling single ones might not be the best idea if you're looking for a good home...

Got the Uromastyx comfortable and eating. As much as I don't like forced handling taking him out for 5 minutes a day got him confident enough to come out to bask and eat seeing as he now realized I'm not going to eat him. Didn't end up needing bee pollen to entice him, so I am glad there.

Have tile in so need to do cages with tile. Picked up some millet for the Uromastyx substrate.

Tried to get the young hognose to take a pinky but no luck yet. Especially since they are very timid and flighty when younger (probably will brain one since he seems to be searching his tank. No luck with pushing it along the ground.)

My Borneo Blood still hasn't eaten but she is fine. She is just not that hungry yet I think. Might try braining next time. Just want a meal in her to know she has her appetite.

Anyone got any tricks for getting a young hognose to eat? Past braining and broth?

Yeah, same thing happened with my first crested gecko. I had only dealt with a leopard gecko up to that point and had no developed the techniques for managing literal flying squirrel in reptile form. Speedy zipped up my air, on to shoulder, then over and down back, stopping between shoulder blades. He then superman's it off my back to land on the floor (i was sitting on floor so it was maybe two foot drop). At which point he beats it over to the wall, then halfway up the wall. He was tuckered out by then so it was easy to gently coax him back in to my hands.

His nickname has been Speedy ever since.

Any of the commonly available snakes can work in a viv, no problem. If high humidity requirement, you want something well sealed without excessive ventilation; meaning a moisture sealed wood tank or a PVC tank.

For low humidity species like colubrids, antaresia pythons, sand boas, etc. that isn't a concern. A glass tank works fine. It'll cost a bit more to heat, however, as glass is a poor insulator. This is why wood or PVC tanks are best for herps just in general. Good heat retention and good humidity retention.

As for high humidity herps in low humidity environment, as long as we're not talking amphibians or snakes that need 80% all the time, you can keep humidity in range with moisture retaining substrate, daily misting, and blocking off a percentage of the air vents/screen top.
>>
>>2327329

Painted turtles, especially young ones are more on carnivorous side than some other turtles (they'll start becoming more omnivorous as they get older but still like meat more) Don't be too surprised she decides to eat some of the others later on just out of the blue. They're more than capable of eating larger fish as they have claws to tear things apart (that said if she did eat them, you should be finding at least some remains somewhere, unless the rest of the fish cleaned it up) Plus turtles in general eat like pigs, so it's a given she'd eat them eventually.

Mixing fish with turtles are always hits or misses for every individual and it's best to expect you'd lose some fish down the road. Best advice I could give is if you want to keep fish, go with livebearers like guppies or platies and give them lots of cover as they have the chance to breed like roaches to replenish themselves.
>>
>>2327356
Generally when a turtle realizes it can catch and eat fish in the tank its game over for keeping them with fish
>>
>>2327380
This, but there's always a different experience with each one.
I have an adult RES currently with a school of danios and guppies; the danios being there for over 8 months and the guppies are breeding. In the span of time, I only lost 1 danio and like 10 guppies (still have about +20 guppies in total though) I have lost other fish when I first introduced them in the tank, like 2 goldfish, 4 corys, and a handful of ghost shrimp (she fucking loves shrimp. There's still like 2 shrimps there somewhere currently)
She doesn't actively hunt/chase the fish anymore since then but I know she'll probably catch the others eventually when she wants.

For chams the humidity would be fine but airflow inadequate because of the glass walls. They're a weird herp to care for because of that high humidity AND high airflow requirement.

That tank would work well for any arboreal gecko, lizard, or frog, so long as it is outfitted properly for the species selected.

They like to sleep underwater. They are also excellent swimmers, especially if they are provided with enough room to swim since a young age.
It's really good exercise for them

Most people think they don't like to swim. But they love it.
I've had most of my juvies spend most of their time in the water just swimming around

The adults will stay in better shape to if they have enough room to swim, but it means they will need a large cage which most people don't think it's needed for these animals for some reason

For an adult male, I'd recommend a 2'x4' at least, but 2'x'6' half water half land, with a shallow area and a deep part for the pool, would be a perfect

The adults sleep and laze sometimes, but when it does feel like being more active, it will benefit from being able to jump around and swim around
