The dev decided to put in an overly long psychology 050 dream sequence instead of actual progression on the Mother Route. Even then, you have the option to pick the Daughter in it as the one you like better.

Dual Family is starting to feel like DMD in the sense that you have the illusion of choice, but there's really only one correct one. For the Mother it's choosing not to sneak out and for the Daughter it's the outdoors date if you're the Father and sneaking out if you're the son. Everything else is just shortcuts to the end results of those scenes.
