Story starts with MC brooding in a bar, late in the night. He is trying to drink his sorrows away, when he catches the attention of a new girl that just arrived at town. First he is surprised for this cute woman showing interest in talking with him, but suddenly he can't stop but be completely open to her. He is going trought some kind of early mid life crisis, he is almost on his 30's and has no wife or girlfriend, and can't force himself to talk with any of the - mostly younger - girls that frequent the bar - and spend all the day working on a shitty job at a major corporation on the city, where he is severily underused and not taken seriously by the staff, even if more than one time people got credit over his ideas on how to improve the productivity. He is drowing on self pity, when he confess to the mysterious girl that he believe that women have it easy. Ok, so you guys already know, she was part of the fairy folk, and decided to help him get a new perspective in life. On the next day, MC wakes up for work and finds weird that his black hair is strangely long.

Picture now MC aproaching one of the guys, she is red and nervous, with glasses, a Black bob cut and amazing breats, barely cobtained on her secretary clothes.

The 2 now friends have fun that night, and maybe MC even sleeps with Mysterious girl. On the next day, Mysterious girl wakes up earlier and check her phone, she needs to go to work already. The reason she came to this town wasfor her new job, that happens to be being the boss of MC on his corporation. She contenplates her phone, as her first act is prepare to give MC a promotion.

The tomboy TG has a few paths. How about something like ....

Guy is really interested in a cute girl, but discovers she's only into other girls. Let's say the guy is a 'business student' sort of personality, late high school or early college, object of his desire is outdoorsy, sort of hippie-ish into camping & horses and grabbing life by the ass and enjoying it all free-spirited like.

He gets an opportunity to make a wish, perhaps encounters a fairy or somesuch magical creature. Poor choice of wording to the effect "I wish she could fall in love with me." He gets transformed into her ideal rather than she gets changed at all ... becomes a tomboyish girl, a bit of her 'prince.'

Keeps a bit of his male figure, but with feminization, long hair w/ color change, perhaps skills in martial arts ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ky%C5%ABd%C5%8D &/or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kendo for possibilities) other personality change(s) making her more outgoing and interested athletics ... generally loses interest in the corporate boardroom and thus becomes what the object of his desire "could fall in love with.

Leave it hanging. They encounter each other, but only the potential for a relationship occurs; it's not a resolved or assured thing. Just the possibility comes to be.

The TG main character might even experience partial memory loss, for example, and be disoriented and unsure of who or where she is. Vaguely realizes the girl she encounters is interesting and familiar, but doesn't recall she is the reason he became transformed. The object of her affection remains who & what she always was, a free spirit that finds a lost, disoriented girl who seems interesting and offers to help her find her way home.

Never liked those very much. The funniest part of the transformations for me is coming up to the design (or seeing the designs that other people thought) and translating the character to other gender.

One way that I can see it working for me, is by making the canon female be actually a TGed dude all this time, or making a character that was always male but ended up getting gender shaped and the story rewritten, so "in and out" of universe he has always being a girl. At least on these ways, I have a male design to translate.

Part of the problem is that TG suffers from the dual problem of having too much demand and too little supply. Just from a basic standpoint, you have:

I did have an idea for a story in a pseudo-Victorian/Edwardian era with fantasy elements.

A goodhearted, but not the most fortunate in life, man with a selfish, cruel wife is convinced to break into the house of a noble to feed his family.

He's captured in the process, the noble was thought to be away on expedition (he's a weird and kooky doctor) but he's come back. The MC is given the option of working off his debt to society to the noble, or going to jail.

Add in some other elements, the doctor noble has come back and has these special plants/extracts/potions he makes the MC take as an experiment while he trains them as a house servant. The MC is on house arrest and worries daily for his family, but he finds out his wife turned him in for the reward of stopping a crime, skipped town and left their kids with his mother.

It would go on longer and longer but I like the idea a lot. After a point the MC has settled into the role of the head of household, doesn't mind being a woman, and the two begin to grow attracted to the other.

There's this one where a guy and his friend are "cursed" by a witch where it turns out it was a setup by his sister all along. The guy was, up to that point, portrayed as a normal 15 year old or so guy, but the sister insists that he was gay for his best friend and making him a girl was the only option. The MC totally accepts this without any argument at all. She played God and upended the dude's entire existence solely so she could play matchmaker and we're supposed to accept that at face value?

In that same story, the character publicly says he's transgendered and only transitioning, and the last chapter has him give a rousing speech in class about his transgender struggle. This is another thing I hate: trying to relate this to actual transexuals. I don't think the guy who magically transforms over the course of a week, has a working vagina, and is (of course) smoking hot is really anyway comparable, especially when he evidently doesn't mind being either gender. Whenever the real world politics enter, any analogy immediately falls apart and it just becomes distracting and annoying.

I think a lot of it is because TG, when you get down to it, sits at a very odd intersection. The core division here seems to be the people who view it as a sort of identity death/mindbreak, and the people who are into the idea of trying out a new set of genitals. Group A sees TG as interesting because it allows you to perform sort of the ultimate feminization, taming-of-the-shrew, or corruption - taking a person who is biologically predisposed to masculinity and then make them into a pretty little girl.
