Anyone else super let down with the whole bonedrewd arc/fight?

It felt so dissatisfying the only reason they don't get fucked is because of random 'perfectly timed' power up by reg.

Then the fact that prushka becomes a white whistle (I think, translation seemed weird) was out of no where, there was like 2 chapters of foreshadowing about this even being possible, and it really feels like the writers contriving a way for them to get past bonedrewd.

Considering Ozen has been a white whistle for 50 years, I feel you're not giving her enough credit outside the mock match they had prior to his powerup. While she did mention she was being serious in the match, it wasn't with equipment she'd use against the predators of the lower layers as they all can predict the future. Large surface area blunt force trauma != single point focused penetration. You see this a lot in things like non-newtonian fluids where if you were to slap it with all your strength with an open palm or punch it with your fist, you'd just hurt yourself, but if you were to stab it with a knife it'd go in nice and easy. I'm sure Ozen could've just have grabbed a pointy stick and joined the navel penetration club, but that wasn't the point of her test (pun intended).

Also, I'm pretty sure knocking the other opponent unconscious for an unspecified amount of time by just stomping on them constitutes winning a fight, but maybe that's just me.

So the Sea of Corpses isn't one contiguous ocean, it's a weird setup of multiple floating disc oceans that overlap with each other in points and don't necessarily have a sea floor, just denser and denser and muddier water that is apparently also clogged with bones and corpses and such.

If you have decent enough equipment to let you dive down through the oceans, survive the sea beasties, burrow through the crap in the denser water, than survive the drop into the 6th layer, you could concievably go down anywhere in the 5th to reach the 6th.

The reality of it though is that there's no realistic way to do this besides being or having ridiculously OP artifacts (Reg, Wakuna), so traffic to the 6th is pretty heavily limited to using the elevator.

Got two questions, one speculative. First, is it confirmed that the bottom of the abyss just opens up to a new area? or is it that there are multiple Abysses leading to the center of the planet? As we can see from Nanachi's flashbacks, theres some huge ass castle thing along the side of the slums where she lived prior to the experiment. I'm willing to bet this is the place that Bonedrewd has active bounties / warrants in for his crimes.

Second question: Could it make sense for Rico to use Lyza's white whistle? As she is technically a stillborn corpse, whos life is entirely thanks to the cube she was put in, wouldn't she still be considered as lyza's biomass, being able to use her whistle? I can see why this wouldn't work for some reasons, but it sounds a lot better in my mind than Prushka just happening to have the white whistle thing in her (unless all of the batteries are like that?). Maybe I didn't follow it correctly, I know thats how they make them, but it seems a little wasteful to have them discarded so carelessly by bonedrewd if that were the case.

Their goal, as mentioned in the same chapter where they talk about the helmet, is to get past Bondrewd and continue their adventure. At that specific point, trying to kill Bondrewd was their only shot due to his obsession with capturing them. It was only after he revealed he wanted to support them on their adventure after the fight that trying to kill him became irrelevant to the overall plan. Not to mention Reg and Nanachi were following Riko's orders as team leader, who was no longer invested in Bondrewd.

You're still missing the point about as hard as you possibly can, genius. I could make an equally valid case that the reason we can follow their movements in the Idofront battle is because Reg powered up enough to follow such blinding speed that knocked him down in a single hit before the powerup as you make a case for Ozen's unmatchable speed being artistically represented as a sudden approach while Reg focuses the beam. The question was how Reg would do with his memories and both arms if he fought Ozen, considering how much more powerful he was in every regard, how much sharper his mind was, the fact that he could follow reflexes he couldn't even see before, the fact that his body can survive her blows, the far quicker charging time for the incinerator, the answer is quite clear he would probably win.

First, no one has any idea as no one has reached the bottom, or if anyone has, there's been no real information from them besides what we learned from Ozen about the Ring of Light and the Gatekeepers.

As for the Nanachi bit, that seemed more like a slum that destitute and homeless people dug out for warmth in the north pole, as that was where the drainage from that big walled city came out. I don't think that's necessarily another Abyss, either the hole or the castle, I just think that's the kind of architecture they used to survive in shit conditions.

Second. Again, no real idea, but probably not. We don't know exactly what constitutes original owner, whether it is the original mind, body, soul, or combination of all 3. In Riko's case, she doesn't really possess any of the necessary attributes since her body is made of Lyza and Torka's DNA and her soul and mind are pretty clearly not Lyza's.

Life-Reverberating stones (the raw materials for White Whistles) are created when one desires with their whole being for another to continue on their journey. Whether they need to be suffering the 6th layer's burden or just be at the Idofront is unclear, but Bondrewd's experiments didn't create them. The person undergoing the effect becomes the stone, and the person they were thinking about at the time becomes bound as the owner of that stone.

One other thing to consider is that no matter how serious Ozen is, you can't compare pre-Reg being a match for Ozen to begin with so it's not a good comparison of her aptitude. All we know from that chapter is how one-sided the fight was. Reg is definitely a contender in his powered up form, and in all likelihood can come out the victor, but knowing what Ozen's capable of is still an unknown factor if she were "serious".

All of your points are assumptions; all of mine are based on actual panels in the manga. I understand every point you're trying to make, I'm just trying to explain to you that there are specific manga panels that refute nearly everything you're trying to prove. I'm going to continue this discussion with you even though its pretty clear you don't want to have a discussion, you just want to shout out your own shaky and unsupported theories.

You're making the comparison that the state of mind and level of focus in these two situations are equivalent, which anyone with a pair of eyes and functional brain could see is not the case. Compare Reg's focus in this sequence compared to the one in my previous post; one of these is calm and collected, the other is a raging pile of conflicting emotions. Bon ambushed an emotionally unstable and unfocused Reg. Ozen surprised an intensely focused Reg. These are both pre-powerup Regs; these situations are not equivalent.

Additionally, Ozen approaching faster than Reg could see did not happen once, but several times during the fight. Sure, you could call it artistic, but it doesn't change the fact that the author repeatedly decided to show Ozen doing this instead of the typical movement he has every other character in the manga display (walking, running, jumping, gliding, whatever). Maybe he was trying to make a point here in showing Ozen moving differently from every other character in every other fight scene we've had?

What even happens with Bondrewd now?
I mean he's still alive although he has lost a big part of his personality or soul or whatever you call it. But as long as he has a body he should still be able to develope a personality again, similar to someone waking up after a complete amnesia. Will he slowly turn evil again or stay some harmless, maybe even neutral, guy with a slight interest in science who feels a bit dead inside?

He did get stronger, but it's less to do with a boost in physical abilities and more to do with the next point

This is phrased a bit weird, but otherwise correct, the actual phrase was "Someone made me remember how to use this body". This here is the main change is Reg. He was already very resilient, he already had the incinerators and such, and it wasn't so much that he got a million times stronger and faster (Bondrewd stops him with a hand here), but rather he knows how to use that strength and speed to its full potential. Even saying he doubled his strength and speed is being generous seeing the damage inflicted on Bonedad's equipment.

You probably still believe this with every fiber of your being, but there's enough evidence to show that in a serious 1v1, Reg's only weapon is the Incinerator, a weapon with a long and visible charge up time, a limited number of shots, and a 10 minutes til you lose timer.

Then he will probably try to get the blessing again since I think it was rather clearly established that it is the key to surviving the Year 2000. He always regarded them as such, and freely allowed Riko and 7chi to leave, but not before he is finished to study Reg, and Bon even promised he will return him to them.

To be honest, I didn't really care that much for Prushka. She was thrown into the story so suddenly, we didn't even get to know why Riko cared about her until a flashback, and just like that, she was torn away in less than 24 hours. It feels as if she was just a convenient sacrifice to give Riko a white whistle, without having to kill Nanachi (which would carry a lot more weight, due to her old relationship with Bonedrewd).

Also, layer 4 arc utterly destroyed me. Maybe it set the expectations a bit too high for layer 5 arc, or it could be that the morbidity reached a level where it just dulled my senses.

I have the feeling that most bigger characters like the orphanage's people, Ozen and so on will appear again later but I don't know how. Not the person you're replying to, but I think you are downplaying getting turned into a narehate quite a bit, its kind of a big deal and being (a functional one) is a whole step above a regular human. Reg was teleportsbehindyou'd and effortlessly pinned down by Faputa as well. One could make an argument in favour of Nanachi being weak as a noodle, but I think innate combat abilities and experience do matter quite a lot as well, and she never trained to become stronger in open combat. Either way, I think that no matter what narehate bodies have way more potential than human ones.
Another think I'd like to turn your attention towards is the fact that Bondrewd made an emphasis on the fact that these claws he got can actually pierce his skin, and again, same can be said about Faputa. There is a shot in the arm amputation scene where we can see a needle/probe aimed at his bellybutton, but there is no feasible way of knowing whether that would be enough to pierce his skin, or if Ozen using a pointy object would suffice, we only know that being a superhuman fluff is enough.

I'm pretty sure we've had a conversation like this before, and just like last time you're overlooking the glaring flaws in your logic because you want to believe I'm only going off of headcanon, even though I'm not.

Your interpretation of debatable panels and pages is not absolutely correct just because you want them to be, and the fact that you honestly consider standing completely still and waiting patiently for Reg attack him a "surprise ambush" shows me that your grasp of this manga is every bit as poor as it was before. What balls you must have thinking you can say anyone else at all has shaky unsupported theories when you continually ignore the fact that Reg's abilities had without any room for misinterpretation multiplied tremendously to a degree that can't be measured to Ozen's when we only saw hers through the eyes of the vastly inferior Reg really shows me you're not willing to look at facts just because you're afraid of being wrong.

The bottom line for your argument, beneath all the other superfluous shit you pile on top of it, is that Ozen is really really fast, which I never made an attempt to deny. But as a previous anon pointed out, strength equals speed, and Bondrewd himself stated Reg had taken in a whole damn Idofront's worth of strength. Based on hard evidence I can more accurately conclude than you that a Reg that strong and fast would be able to read Ozen's movements to a degree the Reg charged by a rinkydink orphanage couldn't even begin to hope to compare, so there's no point at all in trying to use his first fight with her or comparing mental states between the two as though it amounts to anything because frankly it doesn't. The case I'm making is that there was an undeniable and indefinite increase in overall combat ability that can't be measured the way you're trying to, it's not a fucking powerlevel series you battleshounen-gargling nimrod. I don't know how this can be so difficult for you to understand.
