I think the main appeal for fujoshi (at least for me) is the "are they, aren't they?" type of thing. It explains why mecha anime have a large fujoshi fanbase. Fujoshi want subtlety and no het romance (like Tiger & Bunny).

Also, a lot of BL is boring and just generic stories with the same plot line and the same overused high school setting. If they really want fujobucks, they need to make good anime with BL undertones but leave the ending open.

However, anime live Love Stage was really good and I wish they would animate more comedic BL because there's nothing worse than a romance anime that takes itself way too seriously.
