Honestly not really because Trigger absolutely always meant for Akko and Diana to come together and defeat whatever evil as friends. Problem is that the way it was handled was incredibly sloppy and rushed (as per the usual in LWA). The only thing it got right was the ending, which is surprising since Trigger usually underdelivers at the end.

Holy shit, that last episode was probably the cheesiest thing I've ever seen in recent memory. As if the final arc wasn't mediocre enough, suddenly we have this finale literally written for kids that nobody asked for.

This. For all the talk about hype, I found it very hard to get excited for the 5th Shiny Arc in the series (not counting any recap moments), especially when one had already happened one episode earlier.

And I'd rather see all the 7 witches fighting the missile together, with Sucy's poisons, Constanze's machines, Lotte's spirits and such. It was supposed to be a "power of friendship" ending, but the friends got reduced to viewers. Hell, episode 5 handled the cast way better.
