Didn't this have a french director? Does it even qualify as anime? It definitely looks more french than japanese.

You knew animation and comedies are treated like they couldn't possibly be art on their own terms, op.

Watched it at the Eye Film Museum in Amsterdam during an animation expo. I believe they had a (lead) animator participating in a subsequent Q&A session.

I was livid when the screening ended.

fucking lol
It was designed to be pretentious, insubstantial shit, anon.
>retard, entry level "unexpected love" theme that 50% of film students graduate with (other 50% is love + murder)
>no dialogue meme
>artsy faggot european director
>premiered at the Cannes Film Festival
>poster uses the san-serif + flat color + "interesting" placement for it's font (these things aren't bad when used by themselves, not all at fucking once though)
>oscar nominations
>90%+ rodden domadoes score

I like Ghibli but it's shit. It's the same empty-headed shit for retard coffee-addicts who wear scarfs in summer. This is the European version of cheap American "muh gay lifestyle muh racism" films. By-the-numbers. Luckily with all these shit things it will be forgotten in an hour after viewing, the only time you'll be reminded is within that hour someone else saw it and commented.
>>
Now I gotta watch it
>>
Went to an animation day at a film festival last year just to see it. Ended up enjoying Belladonna of Sadness more.
