Merged Zamasu being an unstoppable wall that requires Vegito to stop only really makes sense in the anime where Kai Zamasu is closer to SSB in power.

Since in the manga Kai Zamasu is weaker than even an SS2, the gap in power between him and Black practically makes him an insect. The main bonus between their fusion is the immortality added to Black's strength, and the goal of having Goku stand off against him isn't to beat him anyways but to outlast the fusion.

Both fights make sense in their own continuities, though personally I prefer the manga.

I personally prefer the way the manga does things. While both have their inconsistencies I feel the manga handles power levels a lot better and has less bullshit like SS Rage and purple goop Zamasu.

I also like it for simply taking a moment to explain that Super Saiyan Rose is Super Saiyan Blue with actual god status and give Future Trunks and Kid Trunks some brother-like moments together. For all the filler the anime goes through, I really wish it took some time for things like that.

The only time characters don't trade hits is if they're either completely matched or one of them is so overwhelmingly powerful the other doesn't even stand a chance. Even Goku and Frieza, both at full power in both their original encounter and the ROF encounter beat the shit out of eachother with trading hits left and right despite power gaps.

This is what's bothering me about DBS a lot, it's not just Toyotaro, it's everyone working on Dragon Ball Super, not just limited to Anime or Manga, literally everyone working on the project just swallows everything they've seen from Dragon Ball, jumps up and down to let it mix around a bit, then vomit it out in chunks to call it a "A continuation of Dragon Ball".

They are missing a very big thing. Continuity. Even though Toriyama hated working on the manga after Cell saga, he never redrew similar situations. For example, each arc focuses on new concepts (Saiyan saga introduces saiyans, Frieza saga is all aliens and space, Buu saga is magic and fusions). All of these introduced brand new concepts.

The whole theme of Super has been Gods, Super saiyan blue, and other mandatory new opponents. If you search for any key concept from all the arcs so far, you will just find the same things. Gods, Super saiyan blue, and some opponents. And everything else is just what has been done in Dragonball and Dragonball Z.
This isn't how you make a sequel. Hell even GT did it better.

I disagree. Bebi arc expanded on Tuffle lore in a cool way and gave us a villain with good motivation, which DB lacks in general. SS4 is also cooler than SSB imo but to each his own.

Shida is good, but despite the animation being nice in those fights it wasn't what Dragonball should be.

Dragonball should be good on model drawing, with animation techniques that give a sense of weight and speed and make punches have impact.

Shida and Naoki Tate both are amazing animators when it comes to making the animation out of model and fluid but something like that works only for One Piece where both of them did most of their work.

Having Goku not looking like Goku, with bright colors, no proper shading and completely out of model just for the sake of having him spin kick with fluid animation, isn't Dragonball and neither is Dragonball having Goku throwing multiple completely weightless punches in 100 different camera angles.

The choreography and the impact of the hits make it exciting, while the on model drawing make it look cool.
