Why is the SSG transformation used constantly in the manga by Goku and now Vegeta, but in the anime has not being used since the Goku vs Beerus fight?

Someone said because Toyotaro actually cares about consistency and anyone who says otherwise is lying.

But I think that is why his manga is terrible.
Consistency is boring, we don't need that in DB.

Zenkai boosts don't automatically restore you to full power. Cell has Piccolo's regeneration which reduces the user's ki to use. He should have been weaker coming back from that, not stronger. Vegeta IS stronger than Goku, though. The Black arc shows that. The issue is that Vegeta has no techniques outside of beatdowns and beamspam. The closest things he's ever had to proper strategy were the fake moon blast in the Saiyan saga, and Toyotaro's "switching from SSG to SSB right as he hits them" (which was something he stole from Goku, who used it against Hit).

Meanwhile, Goku has instant transmission, kaioken, solar flare, the ability to fire ki with his eyes, mafuba, afterimage, etc.

Saiyans get stronger when they come close to death. This happens 8 times before he fights frieza's final form. The Ultra Divine Water probably triggered it too.

And when he fights frieza he uses kaio ken before he eventually breaks through the barrier to Super Saiyan.

Frieza is definitely stronger than Goku during the battle, but it was kaio ken and his super saiyan form alongside the fact that he fucked up and took a blow from his own attack that he died.
