Throwing away personalities, character development, and meaningful interactions just to put yuri fanservice parts in the anime. It's the panty shots of today, and unlike panty shots, you don't have skilled writers throwing them into good quality work. At least, not yet.

Past that, it's not so much a thing that's an instant turn off as it is a general sense of where the anime is going. If I see the first few episodes and it looks like the characters will be doing the same thing over and over, I'm free to check out. Same thing if it looks like the characters aren't going to have any development and there's nothing terribly interesting. No sense wasting another five hours of my life if it will be the same stuff I've already seen and it's not enjoyable to watch at the moment.
