It could also very well be the same one Dolomite talked about last chapter with it being a 'new species'.

Araki has been very consistent on where the Lone Pine tree is located (Check my next post's attached image for more info).

To me, Part 4 feels like the true end to the original series

I think an issue with newfags not understanding that is because it's not clear at the end. All we see are new characters that visually resemble the ones we're introduced to, and then it stops. Similar issue with 5 really, the Part doesn't feel conclusive or hold the reader's hand like every other Part. Some people like that, others ask questions because it's way too vague

Araki was experimental with JoJo after Part 3. I feel like a part of why SBR was so simple was because it wasn't JoJo until the changes were made. Even then, it's a story that still stands on its own with injected elements for the true fan's world to enjoy

It's clear what happened. Under the effect of Pucci's death, the cycle of the universe was shattered, and the universe accelerated while based on those changes. While the immediate effect is that the events of Stone Ocean are basically undone, because the disks that Whitesnake would make have now dissolved (no F.F., no complex stand criminal system) the ripples of such a universe branching out through the timeline would require that everyone save Emporio are changed from the result. The circumstances that brought Irene together with Annakiss and Hermes, and as well as the implications of good relations with her father, mean past events were changed too. And for those to have changed, the circumstances of other events had to have changed, and so on and so on.

In this new paradigm Emporio's landed in, nothing the first five stories showed ever happened. Certain events might have played the same, but the stories as they are are broken Unless the twist is that the universe Emporio ended up in was the original universe of the first five, and this was in sense a 'prequel' to the true course of events, and our original Jotaro is Irene's father. and not only that, their fates have been broken too.

Meanwhile, back in the first timeline, the sequence of events MIGHT have gone uninterrupted, were Made in Heaven stopped before the acceleration. Had Pucci not started it up again, the story could have just been where Emporio ended up after, but he started it up again, so the original timeline is once again speeding out of control, AND everyone in it knows what will happen to themselves, in whatever fraction of time they have.

The lives of all the people we've known from the past five parts have been fucked, and what will replace them is someone similar but different. Everyone's gone, in all sense of time.

Even though it was foreshadowed the climax was underwhelming and after the fight is over out of nowhere we go into a flashback that takes 5/6 chapters to end which ends up being a bunch of pointless crap, and when we go back to the present we get a jarring jump cut to the final panel

The only one who really died was Pucci; who was completely erased from existence.
Everyone who had died prior to the first reset were replaced by people who are more or less the exact same (name changes) and, prior to the point in their lives where Pucci could have influenced it, took the same exact actions.
Everyone who survived is the same, again, except for instances in their lives where Pucci could have effected them.
Jotaro, for example, is the same in part 3, but doesn't have to worry about DIO's "trusted friend" and thus ends up being a better dad to Jolyne. Duwang co. is entirely uneffected.

Okay I just finished part 6 and I have a lot of questions but I guess I'll spread them out over multiple threads to not be an annoying bitch. Here's my impressions in comparison to part 5

Terribly gimmicky and unthreatning a lot of the times. Sky High is by far the worst battle in the series. Dragon's Dream and Jail House Lock were also terrible. Shit like C-Moon, Made in Heaven, Yo-Yo Ma, Bohemian Rhapsody were probably a stand out to me. Everything else was fine. Diver Down is probably my favourite stand ever.

Calm your tits, Jesus. I'm not that guy but misunderstanding Made In Heaven is a widely-observed phenomenon and that's heavily in part due to people speedreading and then getting angry about it, look at all the people who claim Pucci was trying to destroy the universe and that he killed everyone.

There is -everything- indicating that the other stories went the same without them stealing the spotlight of part 6's ending. It's hammered in multiple times that the universe has a predictable and set nature - in the first universe that Pucci creates, this is particularly noted with the bootleg Jolyne who's still imprisoned, and the bootleg Jotaro who she has a poor relationship with coming to try and help her. Not to mention Emporio's lack of agency until Pucci changes his fate FOR him.

After that happens, there's some trippy shit with Pucci's death, but we specifically see an ant (and Emporio too) travel to yet another universe exactly as they were. What was the point of showing the (completely unchanged) ants unchanged path if not to say 'this is yet another universe where things aren't fundamentally changed'? Something as tiny as an ant wasn't changed at all - why would the entire history of a character like, I dunno, Guido Mista (who had absolutely nothing to do with Pucci or MIH) be changed?

And the rest of it is just using your brain to figure out what happened and the consequences thereof. Without Pucci, DIO never had that shit in his journal, Jotaro relaxed a bit, and his daughter was able to have more of a relationship with her father. "The lives of all the people we've known from the past five parts have been fucked" is an absurd claim.

How does Giorno grow on anyone? I'm honestly curious.

I tried really hard to like him but I couldn't find anything. He barely talks to his comrades - although he's presented as being really skilled at reading people and working with them, I never got the impression he was at all interested in forming bonds or making friends. When they're being funny and charming with each other, he sits on the sidelines. His fights are largely mediocre - his brief role in the Illuso and Ghiaccio fights, Baby Face etc. Him figuring out stand-abilities feels stilted and rehearsed rather than organic when other characters do it, particularly because it often involves making the other characters temporarily stupid to make him look good in comparison. Bruno, Mista, Narancia and Abbacchio all outshine him. His stand is a mess that kills the tension in the part and which didn't even have properly defined powers at first.

What am I missing here? What have people found to like?

Giorno is the tactician of the group. A lot of his time spent is actually to help make other people look better. And I like that. I like his nobility and modesty. He sees things like they are. He was willing to get himself attacked by Soft Machine because he knew Abbacchio didn't want to pull out his Stand. Seeing Mista go so far in White Album moved him to take direct action on his own. When Mista and Fugo respectively start trying to suck his dick and go "Giorno you did damn good", he dismisses it and reminds them "hey, it wasn't just me, you did shit too." As a whole i'm fond of his deductive and analytical nature, and his straight-laced appearance and impression which hides a more ruthless and dangerous soul. When he's sick of your shit, he's sure to make you suffer. At the same time there is a nobility and a purity you can see. He feels regret and is unhappy with the realization that he didn't save Buccellati, and Narancia's death really brought out he sentimental side in him. He's such a strong, ambitious, ruthless boy with the power to be a leader and achieve his goal, but at the same time you also get these glimpses of humanity within him.

What's special is that he has a dream. He says it like 4 times. He's just some kid, and the others joined the gang because they had nowhere to go and their lives were basically over. Now they have a youth willing to join the gang on purpose, despite having his whole life ahead of him. It seems ridiculous but it's a big deal, and Giorno knows it. Narancia feels lost without being given orders. Abbacchio is the same way. The crew of VA is a bunch of lost souls, with the exception of Giorno, who knows exactly what his goal is and hasn't given up on life yet, and the others see that in his ambition and how seriously dedicated he is to the team. For how young he is, he shows he's about as strong of character as Buccellati. And Buccellati was even too afraid to take action against the boss until he found Giorno, who shared his goal.

I posted this a couple of days ago but Giorno is basically Dio without abusive childhood (at least late childhood straightened Giorno up). He's a charismatic leader that would do anything to achieve his goal. Cruel, but kind hearted. Has a natural ability to be likeable without doing anything, just like Dio. Can easily convince people to do what he wants them to do. He's acting like some sort of mentor for Mista an Trish to an extent

It had higher stakes than pretty much anything post-Baby Face in VA.

It might be just me but I don't find losing heat that threatning of a power. Plus I knew that his power was rod manipulation and I knew that rods were an optical illusion so you can imagine my annoyance when Araki made them into huge tampoon monsters that eat heat and travel super fast without hitting anything. If they were named differently and created by Sky High it would've been a different story. Also the setting is a sunny pond with green all around. Doesn't convey the thread level to me. It came after super fun, tense and overpowered Bohemian Rhapsody so I expected a lot more.
Rikiel was a nice character (like all DIO's sons) with a nice backstory and character progression. His design was fucking awful

I don't get that at all. It'd also fuck up Rykiel's backstory of being constantly ill due to the rods being drawn to him without him knowing or being able to control them.

Go and rewatch CDIU. constant QUALITY, generic music, and the sakuga was extremely unimpressive compared to other anime. I especially hate how they completely butchered the scene where Kira turns around to face Josuke. That was one of the most powerful panels in the manga but was flat and lifeless in the anime. Not to mention the generic music during that scene when it should've been completely silent except for heavy rainfall.

The difference is that Giorno actually has good reason to want change, the society he lives in is not a good one.
I haven't keeped up with One Piece for the longest time but Luffy's desire to be Pirate King was never even remotely similar to Giorno's situation. Never read Naruto, but I'm pretty sure he wanted to be Hokage to show his worth to the people who had look down on him.

I've told you before, I don't like Giorno and I don't like how Giorno's story was told. It ticks none of my boxes. His personality bored me, his motivations and backstory bored me, most of his fights bored me and his roles in other peoples fights made me roll my eyes.

And out of all the JoJos, Giorno's motivations are probably the most generically heroic. Jonathan wanted to avenge his family, Joseph just wanted to survive, Jotaro wanted to save his mother, Josuke just wanted to keep his town safe while being an average teenager, Jolyne wanted to save her father and the world, but none of them sought positions of power to do this with. The fact that Giorno's motive is so similar to characters like Naruto's and Luffy's does nothing to endear him or his story to me either.

The mafia like the mystery gangster and Buccellati were established as being the greatest source of potential good and the ones in control of generally everything in Italy. The police-force (the only other organization really mentioned much in the part) was established to be ineffective and corrupt, so it's no wonder Giorno chose the path he did.

Reducing the motivation of the other Jojo protagonists into a sentence isn't explaining anything. Jonathan and Joseph reasons for fights are more complex than that and executed excellently. But Jotaro, Josuke and, to a lesser degree, Jolyne are all very weakly presented and played upon through the story.
And "save mother from iminnent death", "protect town my from evil" are definitely "generic" as well.
You keep bringing Luffy and Naruto's motivations up for some reason, having a motivation is the strong point of these two, regardless if you like it or not, their goal takes their stories places, and that's what the protagonist should do, and what Giorno's dream, as matter of fact, does too.
Reactive protagonists are generally not a good thing, in Jonathan and Joseph's case, it works, but in the others, not so much.

Dumbing down the whole team to play up Giorno's usefulness is not good. It's a similar problem people have with Part 2's cast, except there it's much worse and more noticeable. VA just stops because Giorno gets his dream, it doesn't end conclusively and feels empty inside because all the good characters bar Mista are fucking dead

I didn't see this but it's a pretty good summary of my issues with VA's handling of him in general. In comparison to the others, Giorno was drab and cold.

He also suffered heavily from never being allowed to look bad, too - Jotaro is supposedly the super-cool, aloof type, but he gets tons of moments where he's humiliated or left helpless, and it helps paint a picture of him as a complete character who we get to see in a wide range of situations.

I should clarify that, in my eyes, Part 5 is as much about Giorno as it is about Bruno, in a similar vein to SBR with Johnny and Gyro.
They are complementary and Giorno is faulty if we take Bruno out of the picture.
They are always thinking about how they will make their next step towards taking the boss down together.
When Bruno passes away, his ambition, who had been brought back to life by Giorno, validates Giorno's dream fully.
