Nami is at the very least a vital member of the crew and is linked into some core themes like the fishmen and slavery. She also embodies (or used to) a core pirating thing - theft. Another One Piece thing is how the characters often grow through their use of tools or intellect rather than raw power level, and Nami very much embodies that, along with Usopp.

Now that you say it, it does make a lot of sense. He's kept their "power levels" quite neutral so far. Like they've screwed around but it's still plausible they have more in the tank than we know about so they could start fighting some big name enemies.

Only two of these elements seem to fit together in some way, but I don't see how.

Sanji lifts pudding's veil, he actually is stunned by her beauty, Luffy has a dynamic entry crashing into one of them... Then what?

Pudding's candy-coated bullet is another issue. How does it fit in? I assume big mom will get shot with it, but where does that fit in?

Also, the chest blowing up isn't going to injure big mom, and she won't open it up if she's screaming, so I figure it has to be opened by someone else, but who? Would pudding, nijie or yonji try to grab the energy steroids?

I can't see how this is going to come together and it frustrates the shit out of me

I've gotten used to the idea of the Fleet, but when I think about it, it's such an interesting part of the manga since the timeskip.

It doesn't feel as big because it's had no direct repercussions, those characters still feel like the chumps from Dressrosa, and the focus changed with more arcs like the rest before Dressrosa. But these seven captains plus the other characters that joined their crews are going to have roles in future arcs, Oda is seriously building up a huge war that will top Marineford.

In Marineford we saw a great amount of characters with no introduction and how they fought, but we barely saw them and we barely knew them, so they mostly felt like filler to make the war bigger. When Luffy gets into a war with the fleet, those characters will be ones we already know, and that's the whole point of it. The fleet will only get bigger, and I'm thinking that they won't be coming to Wano.

When you take into account that most Supernovae haven't really participated in a full arc, and based on how the story is moving they probably will, this adds several plotlines for future arcs. The Fleet exists for a reason, and they'll come back in the future, making an arc that will probably already be huge even bigger.

The revolutionaries haven't done much, they'll get some participation in the future. Blackbeard too, he'll most likely be ubiquituous by having his crewmates all over the place, his build up wouldn't work on two arcs. Marines get involved in a lot of arcs, but they are mostly small groups, there's a lot of Marines that haven't done anything of note, we don't even know one of the Admirals, and I doubt Sengoku and Garp won't do anything in the future. Smoker and Coby have ongoing plotlines too.

Lucci and Kaku are back for CP0, this means CP0 has a role to play in the future instead of being just a plot device. Then there's all the pirate crews in the New World and all the locals from the islands that the arcs will take place in. Add Vegapunk, Weevil, Mihawk, the remaining Ancient Weapons, Enel coming back, and probably stuff I'm forgetting about, and the whole crew being together, and you can see how two arcs definitely won't cut it.

Zou didn't solve anything as an arc though, it's only there to connect Dressrosa to Wano and WCI.

WCI has been only a bit faster than the rest of the arcs, but the arc is nearing 40 chapters and the wedding hasn't even started. We are about to get more characters involved, and more fights which are what slows down the story, so far the plot moved mostly smoothly because besides Luffy vs Cracker and the army fight there were only small clashes and spars.

I'm still convinced that Big Mom won't go down this arc. Luffy allying with two villanous types makes it easier for him to lose, and losing would also be a more powerful moment for the story. Entering the New World and winning over everyone just as they meet them would lessen the entire story. Losing and rematching helps the story as a whole and connects more storylines between each other.

I put it down for like a year during Fishman Island from burnout and dislike of the arc back in the day. If there was ever a significant quality drop that the series never recovered from I'd probably lose interest and stop reading. I've been following the series pretty avidly since 2004 but I'm not going to force myself to read something that's turned to shit.

Luckily that hasn't happened. I'm apparently one of the few people who thought Punk Hazard was decent, as was Dressrosa even though its second half seriously dragged. Zou and Whole Cake Island have been excellent so far as well, with the latter potentially being one of my favorites depending on how it ends.

Worldbuilding. The existence of sky islands, dials, new races, mantra, Norland, etc. The moon shit from Enel's cover story is likely tied to the void century, and Enel's bound to reappear at some point too.

It's Robin's arc, which people seem to miss. We knew fucking nothing about her when she initially joined at the end of Alabasta. Skypeia shows her getting acquainted in the crew, learning to love their sense of adventure, properly introduces the poneglyphs and their role in the overarching narrative, it's where she reveals and rediscovers her dream, etc. It's no coincidence that the first major island they go to is one full of ancient ruins and cultures where her archaeological skills are extremely useful. Water 7 would have had no weight we skipped Skypeia and went straight into her betrayal.

Jaya is like, one of the most important arcs in the series as well. I don't think anyones willing to argue that, especially with stuff like Teach's introduction being tied to the Sky Island plotline. The whole concept of chasing seemingly impossible dreams is used multiple times in reference to not only Sky Island, but the One Piece as well.
