The OVAs are enough to make me keep watching this show.

But I won't deny that this anime has some low points. That dragon episode and the undead episode both were pretty slow-moving and way too filler. Also they kinda hammer the whole "Akko is an underdog achieve destined for greatness" too hard - 6 and 7, back to back, suffer from this (though 7 seems to be setting up something good)

I've managed to go through worst - the worst drop I've seen in a show I managed to stomach was Samurai Flamenco Episode 11 and Haruhi Endless EIght (both shows that ahd their redemption points), so I can take what LWA could possibly dish out.

BUT... I will say this. I can't help but feel like LWA had a lot of missed opportunities. This show could ahve easily been like Cowboy Bebop it if had more variety like episodes 2, 3 and 8. Even though Bebop was most filler, the large variety of situations the Bebop crew got in is what made that a most entertaining series

I actually liked that "Twilight" episode. Sure, I hate Twilight, but, the message from the Twilight episode was important. Sucy and Lotte die in the end, after last episode's battle. Akko takes their most precious things and use those to revive them with the shiny rod. The only way for Akko to see her friends again is to revive them. They became mindless zombies, but Akko was not satisfied. They transformed rom zombies, to immortal Liches. However, this angered Ursula due to the laws of balance and life. Ursula orders Akko to kill them for good. Last scene after their battle is Akko turning her friends into sparkling dusts and they wave goodbye to each other.

I'm kinda disappointed in the amount of episodes that have relied on them leaving the academy, or an outside element driving the plot, it's like the fact they're at a school is incidental.

Ep1 - Set entirely outside the school except for the very end
Ep2 - Set entirely within the school
Ep3 - Has a brief scene outside the school but is otherwise entirely within the grounds, the plot is about an extra-curricular activity
Ep4 - They sneak out of school
Ep5 - They leave the school to find Fafnir
Ep6 - Set entirely within the school (besides Tiny Chariot flashbacks), small lesson at the beginning, then a party driven by the arrival of outsiders, and Akko getting up to her own antics
Ep7 - A lot of the second half is outside the school, but the first half was all actual lessons so I guess it evens out
Ep8 - Set mostly in Sucy's head which I'm inclined to count as outside the school
Ep9 - Set almost entirely outside the school
Ep10 - Set entirely outside the school

Only two episodes have featured anything more than a minute or two of lessons. Ursula declared she would tutor Akko in episode 2, which we basically haven't seen her doing. It's no surprise Akko hasn't learned shit.

It's just been slow as fuck because she only got the drive to really improve in ep 7. And as the transformation spell showed she's improved massively between 7 and 10.

The first one didn't, the dungeon crawling was a class. The Enchanted Parade only featured a lesson at the beginning, but setting up the parade was work assigned to Akko, it was disciplinary but you could consider it not much different than if she was assigned coursework. It still resembles an academic setting more than most of the TV show's episodes.
