We don't know for sure, but Gosho said that the true name of the Black Organization would give away the name of the boss. The Suzuki Financial Group fits as the Black Organization's real name based on that. The fact that it's extremely wealthy also fits.

Also, Jirokichi's VA also does the voice of a Gundam villain (and Vermouth does his daughter) and we know how they like to do Gundam tie ins like with Amuro and Akai's story.

Don't get me wrong; I still love Conan. But nothing will ever beat the earlier stuff. One thing the series has lost is claustrophobia. I mean, if you watch Conan now and compare it to back then, the tone isn' the same. This bubbly, warm feeling you get each arc isn't like what the series used to be. There was a time when Conan was alone in the dark, imagining the Black Organization lurking behind every corner.

I'm just gonna say, the Black Organization plot is the most interesting thing in Detective Conan and it's pretty much the only reason I've been into the series lately. I still watch every episode and read every chapter but only because I've already come this far. There's such a thing as too much of a good thing. The first fifty times Conan solves a one off wacky locked room murder are fun to watch, but after a while it starts to get stale. Imagine playing a fun RPG with tons of places to explore and things to do, but after a while, you realize all of the side content is just palette swapped and involve the same quest lines over and over, so you'd just want to get back to the main story.

That happens like 8 years later. Don't compare Modern Conan to Classic Conan. The Vermouth Arc is the best arc in the entire series. Nothing written prior to since has come close to it. And you can't enjoy the Vermouth Arc unless you take in all of it, including what's going on between Shinichi and Ran.

I've tried to start actually discussion a few times, but didn't get any takers. The problem is twofold:

1. The DC fanbase on /a/ is small.
2. The fanbase is disjoint.

So, for instance, there are a few purists who keep up with all the latest manga chapters. But then there are those who only watch the anime. Then there are those who used to watch/read, but haven't in years. There are people going through the old stuff now, but not the new stuff. We're not all on the same page.

I own volumes 1-42. The English scans for most of that stuff are terrible. Plus, the manga is just better than the anime in general. I mean, the anime has great voice acting, music, ans sound effects, but the direction for a lot of episodes is lackluster. Plus, they edit things out for censorship and time constraints.

I used to collect the scans and lurk all the forums where they were being done. The early stuff is all terrible. Then somewhere in the mid-2000s, there was a push to go back and rescan everything in high quality. The problem is that many of those high quality scans still had Engrish translations. I eventually just gave up and bought the official Viz release.

The newer stuff all seems to have fine scans and translations, though.
