Akane actually knows the problem with Mugi, which he then later realizes as well, with the notion of dispelling his illusions of love; of which she claimed she would squash. Hanabi had a similar issue with Onii, but not as spiteful or terrible when you compare it to Mugi. It's about their process going through all of these events to be free of illusion or pressures and to be themselves. Especially the rooftop scene later in the manga when "in order to change someone else you need to change first".
