so, taking Kabbalah and Greek language as sources of symbolism as it was done in the production of Neon Genesis Evangelion we can assume that the name of the studio has two meanings addressed at their audiences. First meaning in Greek is "happiness", as they make people who watch their works happy at some level. The second meaning in Hebrew is "shit", as they also provide people who watch them with a significant amount of shit, both do deal with and seemingly enjoy. But is this actually a dualism we see here? Or maybe it's a nuclear meaning? If we try to understand this at such a level of perception, we get either "Happiness is shit" or "Shitty happiness". What could it mean? First interpretation implies that the feeling of happiness is unnecessary and disgusting, therefore no one should feel happy. Second does a more interesting job. It reflects on Hideaki Anno-san's perception of otaku culture and what the otaku themselves feel throughout their lives. Anno-san sees otaku's hunt for happiness in anime as curse that prevents them from experiencing "real" happiness, the joy of human interaction which brings us "real" emotions as Shinji Ikari-kun puts it in End of Evangelion. So it could be meant that Anno-san blames himself and his studio as messiahs of shitty happiness, the fake barrier that otaku build around themselves to have a protection from outside World.
The Master truly sees us differently and tries to helps us since 1995. But we're too blind to see that or simply aren't ready to change.

What people don't understand is that Anno has problems with connections and understanding, exactly what Shinji has problems with, and what he says isn't usually what he means. Just read his wife's manga on their daily life, its great in the ways it communictes Anno with readers. Anno's otaku, not an otaku, who spends his time fapping in his basement not trying to talk to anyone, but an otaku who just likes medium he works in. He's like Kensuke (every character is a part of him to some extent) who's obsessed with certain subject but doesn't let it stop him from trying to understand others. He genuinely cares about anime and tokusatsu and wants them to make be better. Although I don't quite understand his intentions with rebuild, despite making cash on Mari's zettai ryōiki, I still believe in him.

Usually you have those who think Tarantino is a genius, and then those who really really hate him and think hes a hack.
