He wasn't effective, but he had a lot of luck and a literal guardian angel, which made him fearsome.

I would have liked if Araki played the mistery surrounding him a little more, make their chase of Kira a little more like a detective/noir stand story, because Kira's forte and main motivation was hiding it.

I liked his final fight more than Dio's final fight, but to be fair Dio's fight was overall better. If you compare him with Pucci, Valentine and Diego he doesn't shine that much in his final fight, but invisible bombs were sick.

Considering he has no great ambition and simply wishes to lead a calm life while murdering woman he is fairly terrifying since he wouldn't be making people go after him normally.

His powers are fairly good too. If you don't know how the stand works, a single punch barrage is enough to fuck you over if he touches you with his right hand, and if that's not enough bite the dust can be used to reverse time and allow him a chance to counter what happens. Assuming there is a normal person nearby for him to use.

Sheer heart attack is also extremely dangerous. Some stands could probably stop it like Koichi's but most don't seem to fit the criteria to do so.

Since it was the first part to really utilize the potential of stands, it all comes together around Kira.

Kira is in theory the ultimate criminal and the worst Jojo antagonist you can imagine. His powers would make him unstoppable as an offensive force if it weren't for Jotaro. His tendency to avoid fighting makes him even scarier because he's a master of being exceptionally average and thus hard to track down.

But on the other hand, we have a wide variety of allies seeking to defeat him. Coincidentally, two of these allies are particularly useful in defeating Kira. Crazy Diamond and Killer Queen are polar opposites in abilities. Koichi develops his stand as he learns about Kira, and we see that weaker stands can adapt and evolve to fit a given situation.

Even up until the bitter end with the allies perfectly countering Kira's abilities he still has the upper hand until he's face to face with Jotaro and gets instagibbed.

Sure you could chalk a lot of the twists up to asspulls, and sure there's a lot of plotholes looking back. But the whole concept of the part and Kira as the villain is a nearly-perfect premise for a mystery plot. With some touching-up, Part 4 would probably be my favorite part.

We don't know how Killer Queen II's tertiary bomb works yet, and Kira II doesn't have Stray Cat. He's equally analytical and more sane, but I think he'd also be more willing to go on the offense than Kira I.

If he had Josefumi, Kira II could probably fuck up Kira I. If not, it would heavily rely on whatever his tertiary bomb does. If neither of them have their tertiary bomb or Stray Cat, I'd put my money on Kira II since he's more likely to take risks.

I picked it up recently. So... In a few chapters there's a dude who went from random asshole to superhuman x vampire. Then became able to control people's mind only to reveal he's also able to transform 400 years old corpses into zombies (with their original body). Also one of the zombie has killed his executioner by growing his hair extremely fast as he was dying. All this while taking themselves really seriously and making pose. One reason SSB is so highly regarded was the final fight was absolutely epic. Johnny was on the brink of death and was able to pull off a miracle. Compare that to Jonathan, Joseph, Jotaro and Josuke who were relatively okay. So damn refreshing seeing a Jojo constantly getting body torn to shreds and scrapping to his goal.

A huge part of why I loved Kira as a villain was because of how relatively underpowered he was for a Jojo bad dude. Let's compare:

I just realised why Kira had to tell Hayato his name on the first loop and hence consequence loops.

Since Hayato didn't know his dad was Kira at the time, Kira wouldn't be able to activate his BtD since it only activates when Hayato is questioned about Kira's identity (which didn't know yet)

Jotaro is essentially on assignment to get to the bottom of all the craziness happening in Morioh. Josuke and Co. are essentially swept up in it because they have Stands, and we see a majority of the story from their PoV, but it is still very much Jotaro's investigation.

When it started being redone and I finally took another look at it I fell in love, but I can only imagine how much more enjoyable it'd be if I'd had a good translation that didn't overlook personalities the way the old one did.
