Well, I think that people kind of miss those character cues, because frankly they are too busy jerking it to Rin or Ui. Also, Rin has been slowly fleshed over 11 or so volumes, and they haven't developed her intimate personal life that well.

I could imagine they will probably delve deeper into Rin as person when they do the plot twist "she is the other childhood friend" as alluded to in the S2 opening, and she also moves in.

I disagree, S2 has way more fanservice. The difference is this, S1 was Ui lewd and has Rin fanservice but never shows nipples. S2 has Ui lewd and ups the Rin nudity to 11.

Rin has more nude scenes in S2 than the entire manga series up to now. They amped up and added more nude scenes that wasn't there originally for Rin.
