Losing is a thing that necessarily happens. Not everyone can win in a given competition. However, he already feels like he doesn't belong where he is, and touching the ice isn't something he should be doing at such a high level. Utterly failing like he did at the start of the show would fuck him up, but he should be able to recover from not getting gold.

As far as anime goes I can buy it for high school level sport, but it's absolute bullshit for pros. It isn't some fun, friendship driven after school club, it's their career, their source of income, something they've worked their whole lives toward and there's massive pressure from their countries/cities and even globally. There's a lot more at stake and that's why I'm always so happy about series with pros instead of teenagers. There's more weight to it.

Actually it's not. Fairy's past FS score was 199 iirc, which he got after putting all this jumps into the second half. After last episode's Agape, his stamina issue(which has been flagged before) will probably act up and he may get a score slightly lower. Then we have Yuuri, just like Fairy broke the record for SP, he'll break the record for FS and get a 220-230 score.

I don't think Phichit will place on the podium, he's outclassed in skill by the others. But yes he's happy where he is and very proud.

I mentioned him because he was 4th and the score gap was 20 points, just like here, but he got the gold even though Piggy didn't completely bomb his skate. Piggy's a better skater than him, he can make up a 20 point difference by perfecting Yuri on Ice, which he and Victor already changed for maximum points.

I've got a good feeling about King JJ being first on the roster for this episode. I haven't really seen his "Partizan Hope" as part of anyone's favorites as far as skate tracks go, but it's absolutely gorgeous and the perfect setting for possibly working things out (perhaps romanchikkuri) before Yuri performs, that is, if the "let's end it" talk is going the direction most can assume it's headed for at first.
