It's alright, for the most part, it's has a lot of good ideas, especially with how some characters are handled (like Takeru and Mimi) and hopefully they explore more on the real world's interaction with the digimon.

I guess my small concern is how they're handling Taichi's character, it feels like they're switching from drawing out his inner conflict to near-flanderization (especially done to make Yamato shine in most situations), it's kinda subtle but was a bit more prominent in Confession.

There was literally no reason to watch Frontier, it had no actual good qualities. 02 had a fuckton of bad qualities, but for its time it was at least amusing for a while, and it rode the coattails of other stuff. On the point of Universe being full kodomo, keep in mind that most seasons of Digimon have been for kids.

Although compared to the previous seasons, Appmon MOTWs must be the most harmless MOTWs in Digimon History. For 3 months, the worst the MOTWs have done is pranked an amazingly app-reliant society by either mixing up clothes, deleting your game data or screwing up the time.

In Universe's favor, Appmons aren't usually fully realised in the real world hence they aren't able to shoot fireballs at Tokyo Tower. However, since they're virus infected monsters hacking people's phone you would think they could do some more significant damage over just a 5 minute prank sequence.

Because of everything I mention above Universe just feels devoid of violence compared to previous Digimon series. Matt had to worry about getting squeezed to death by a sea dragon, all Haru is worried about is making sure no-one finds out about his bed wetting incident. Yeah I know, in the AR field the Appmons are definitely dangerous but outside of it where we normally see them interacting with humans? The greatest impact they've shown is that they're just a menace not a danger to society.

As a consequence, Universe just feels devoid of danger or violence compared to the old Digimon series. I'm not sure for myself why they took this direction. It can't be because this is what most Japanese kids shows look like today since One Piece is still popular and kids still love watching two men beat each other arm.

Went from mediocre to great in the third movie.

I saw the English dub when it was playing in theaters and it was amazing too. Used most of the original voice cast but still used the original Japanese music like Butterfly and Brave Heart. It was everything I ever wanted out of the dub and I can't believe they pulled it off. Having first watched the cheesy English Digimon dub as a kid it felt like the way I was meant to see Tri.

I'm just mad that it isn't being streamed anywhere and I haven't seen a Blu-ray with the English track announced anywhere or any plans for the rest of the movies to be dubbed. I thought there was a good turn out for the dub in cinemas so I don't get it.

The entire first half of tamers was ass/mediocre as fuck with tedious boring characters (including partners). 02 was super fun to me in the regards of the throwbacks to adventure and I liked the art style much more. Sure some of the characters were bad, but I think people throw too much shit at 02 because of its abortion tier fanfic ending.

Man, I remember really digging the digimon transformation thing in Frontier, to the point where I enjoyed it far more than even Tamers (and 02, obviously).
But haven't watched it since back then, what's so bad about it.

Honestly? The transformation stuff was hype, but the problem is that most of the main cast became useless very fast, faster than in the other series, only 2 of them used the fused spirits (i wanted that Izumi transformation damn it)

This was also from a time where many shows had dubs songs on par or even better than the original here, and frontier's OP was one of those, so there's that.
