To him, he just wants to re-affirm what he's afraid of being the truth. For some reason all might picked Deku, a kid Bakugou looked down on to be his entire life, to be his successor. The football/Rugby players were mostly very agreeable people, and the coach liked to brag about the fact that of all the extra curricular clubs the football team had the highest academic average overall (I knew a guy who played that had like 90+ scores in calculus). The principle of my school was very intent on instilling a sense of leadership and responsibility on the team to their fellow students, and a lot of them I think took it to heart since he's extremely well respected both in the school and community.
