I heard something about a *pro* East/West war, so I wonder if it's the same tournament/prize that Hanabi spoke of (when Nozomi phoned her and learned about the master/apprentice system), and wonder if it will really happen after Yuzuki's tournament.

The style of the manga so far has been "Nozomi and her ironboard go to a new place/get involved with a new aspect of the Keijo world, make new friends and defeat a few new enemies (who they make friends with afterwards), before moving on to a new place/getting involved with a new aspect of the keijo world where all the stuff from the previous thing is abandoned or forgotten about.

So never seeing any of the other girls from the school arcs or from the east/west battle is entirely possible as the main two characters move up the rankings and leave everyone else behind.

The manga gets away from the other girls from the school arc for a bit to focus in two new girls, Ai and Sumire, specially the later. But since then it have been slowly making the girls from school arc return and have focus. The current arc will likely show at least a bit how each of the elite class have grow.

And rather than Nozomi and Miyata leaving the others behind, Nozomi was the one who almost was left behind. While she was still struggling to get enough points in time to raise to A class on her first semester, 8 of the elite members already had enough points to be confirmed to raise.

In Sumire's case it is the trauma. Imagine if whenever Nozomi tried using Vaccum butt would end up getting stuck and becoming an easy prey for any opponent to sink. The fact that she distanced herself from others was probably a big influence too. Sumire is really A~S class level if it wasn't for the trauma.

Ai may have been a higher B class, but isn't that strong. She may also not have that much motivation before because of her family situation. And of course, as she started using the Unlimited Panties, she probably grew quite stronger, which should be the main reason she raised to A together with the girls too.

Nozomi and co did raise to A on their first semester (seems like a Keijo season is a semester long). We watched them closely so it may not feel like it, but even thought some strong players like Sumire and Kyoko came from Setouchi, our girls were the first in 11 years to win the war.

I think motivation is a big part of it. Nozomi greatest asset to the West isn't even her personal talent as a player, but how she affects the others around her. She strongly affected at least Sayaka (who if left all alone may not even have passed the test to the school), Kotone and Usagi who learned to enjoy Keijo when fighting her, Saya who may have ended her career, Aoba who if not pressed may have stayed quiet and never advanced as a player. she also affected others to less extent, plus many of her adversaries.

The higher the class the more traveling they do.
B class for instance, generally only participate on local tournaments, rarely participating on tournaments from elsewhere. Nozomi races as B are all but one in Nishinomiya. The one against giga boobs girl is in Funabashi, Chiba (that's East Keijo territory).

As A class, even the non race related jobs takes a lot of traveling, like modeling for photos, fan hand shaking events, interviews, etc. Matches wise, the one with Saya is in Suminoe, Osaka. Almost half na year have passed and they probably had others matches all around but we haven't seem them.

Well, while considered the strongest west player she still isnt strong enough to be one of the top 5. So there should be a gap in power between her and the goketsu. They're supposed to be on another level from everyone else, which is why the kept the position of the top 5 for the last several years.

There is a big gap with no Japanese raws for almost all chapters until around the 120s. Afterwards there were the magazine raws available, but not sure if you will still be able to download some of the older ones now. Magazine raws asides, you may find a few sporadic chapters in japanese in raw sites.

Goketsu are the 5 strongest Keijo players, including the Prize Queen. I do think all the five are around the same level, so the Prize Queen title may be changing at every year / semester between the five. For example, when we see Fuyuyu on the Fujisaka-house arc, both her (when she gets worried about what the newspaper will says) and the crowd as they spot her never says anything about her being the Prize Queen. While on Yuzuki arc when the same happens the crowd quickly shouts "it's the Prize Queen!" and Fuyuyu also imagines the newspaper saying the prize queen. Which makes me think she wasn't the queen in the previous semester. Well, this arc will probably tell us what exactly is the truth.

It's a bit Hard to choose as there are many great matches. I think I will go with the Aoba match in the war, even thought Aoba isn't one of my favorites.

While they ultimately lost, it was by a close shave, and that's when you had a team of some of the Setouchi weakest elite members versus a team with Suruga's 3rd and 5th (and that's because Maya/Kaya hols both 1st and 2nd rank). Aoba was able to close the gap with: a great strategy that started even before the match, by creating an awesome skill, and by her knowledge of Keijo that let her use her ability effectively like anything the enemy and knowing which of the skill she holds would be the most effective and noticing that other girl could also only use her boost temporally.

My favorite tournament will likely be the current one, which is already pretty awesome even thought it's still at the beginning.

I think that she won't be defeated so soon; some of the goketsu might be, even if under a handicap of having to play against multiple players. Either they get to use everything they know on their matches (in this case, it's unlikely that they can be seen playing again), or they can come back with new/improved techniques and adapt themselves to their previous opponents and prepare themselves against them. Or.. they get to play as a team of 5 (or less) against another team (which might or might not have east players in it), which would be awesome.

I really want a Mio arc and I think she may be an endgame or near endgame opponent for Nozomi. She was a character already planned since early on, being first mentioned in volume 1, chapter 4. In only five years since she became a swimmer she end up as the Japan top and wins gold in the Olympics.
