Yes, you're right, the anime should've totally devoted multiple scenes to introducing and explaining the male characters, so that one scene would work a little better.

seems like, for the 8th ep., only the first point was taken care of in the 7th (and I forgot the part where Nozomi invites Usagi to the party), and the next episode's title refers to the East/West war (not the match against Usagi, so the match might be short, or last around 10 minutes, however the match is short in the manga as well, lasting only 2 chapters). It also seems like this 7th ep. adapted chapters 59 through the beginning of 62, while adding stuff from the extra chapters 43.5 and 66.5; so, the 8th ep should adapt chapters 62 through 65, at least.

After their race, Ginya gives Sumire and the others a bit of info. The legendary strengthening swimsuit (swimsuits made to strengthen the body like the UTM) Shigeo Net Panty, also know as Unlimited Panty (will use UP to refer to it), said to give the wearer power like a god of war, have been delivered to many specific West players since about 3 weeks ago (Sumire notices that was when Nozomi won her first tournament). Sumire guesses that someone is doing it to bring back the balance between West and East. Rumors is that the one who is delivering them is Shinonome Ai.

Trying to learn the truth they go all the way to Ai's house. And there she does indeed have the UP, but it was delivered to her by her real family without her asking for it and she isn't the one delivering them. Here we learn Ai is actually Fujisaki Ai, the eldest daughter of the Fujisaki's family / Kotone's sister.

The problem is that the UP is considered an unfair item so it's distribution is prohibited, so the rumor could end it badly for Ai, and will be hard for her to prove she isn't doing it when she got a copy of it herself. Ai thinks her family did it on purpose to crush her, because she throw away the Fujisaki name. Miyata says she should go to her house and ask them directly instead of just assuming things (like how Miyata did with her own family before).

At the house the guard chief, an former Keijo player, don't let them in, as Ai is now an outsider and according to the rules she can't go in. Nozomi won't have any of that, that different from her, Ai can still meet her mom, that is strange she wouldn't be allowed to do it, and then she breaks the door. They are surrounded by guards but Reiko (Ai's mom) appear and stops them. The whole situation between them aside, she still loves her daughter very much and welcome all of them in (she heard about Nozomi and Sayaka from Kotone).

Ai confronts her about the UP, saying how much trouble it caused her, that her parents always do what they want without thinking of her and so on. Reiko says it's all to tear down the goketsu. They explain to clueless Nozomi that the goketsu are the top 5 Keijo players, including the prize queen. And that for the last several years they have been occupied by the same 5 players whose abilities are in a different level than everyone else.

Reiko is distributing them to raise West players who could match the goketsu. She thinks now is the time to do so. Ai rebukes that as it's a forbidden tool, if the association learns about it, the Fujisaki's house would be crushed. Reiko says she made that decision aware of the consequences, but that the one who must atone is the one who committed the sin.

Kukuru who was hiding there as a boulder overheard everything and recorded everything that was said. She make it looks like she went to attack Reiko but actually retrieved the voice recorder she had put near them. Kukuru tells Reiko that if she doesn't stop distributing the and destroy all the UPs, then she would bring the voice recorder to the association. But Reiko won't stop anyway, as the one who broke the balance between east and west, she must atone (we still don't know why she thinks it's her fault the balance broke).

Nozomi and Miyata tries to steal the recorder. Nozomi don't really care about Reiko's plan, but want to help because seems like she has an important reason for what she is doing. The guards also come and shot Kukuru with rubber bullets, but she reflects them, one which end up hitting Reiko.Ai gets mad, as she knows her mothers does think about the Keijo world more than anyone else. But even Nozomi, Miyata and Ai together aren't able to beat Kukuru.

Then Fuyuyu appears. She asks Kukuru who ordered her to do such a thing that would taint the name of the West. Kukuru says she is doing it for the sake of the goketsu but Fuyuyu says there is no way they would be happy by that and brings down judgment. Fuyuyu notices she did too much and worries about what the newspapers will say. She tells them to not worry as she doesn't plan to tell on what the Fujisaki is doing and was only passing by on a gourmet trip to eat the rumored Butt Cream.

Reiko is not badly hurt. Ai wonders why she goes this far for the West. Shigeo (Ai's dad) comes and says she isn't doing that just for the West, but also to create an environment where Ai and Kotone could race safely. The West Keijo is on a steep decline with most top players and most important tournaments going to the East. If it continues that way, it will be the end of the West. Reiko wants to change that for the sake of her beloved daughters.

Ai says she still is being irresponsible, that others will also suffer like the workers there who would loses their jobs. But them the workers all come by and say they also are with Reiko, that they love the West Keijo and want to see it great again aware of the risks. They asks Ai to not blame Reiko and to give the UP another chance. Ai wears it and goes on about how she is doing that only for the sake of the workers, and not that she agrees with her mother. Nozomi and Miyata says they have to go, that they can't leave all the effort to their senpai. Ai asks where they're going.

Fuyuyu is eating the Butt Cream while concealing who she is when Nozomi suddenly loudly call her name, making everyone around notice one of the famous goketsu was there. Fuyuyu gets worried about what the newspapers will end up writing again and tries to run for it when Nozomi holds her (by the sword). She asks if they want a sign or something. Nozomi says she just wanted to say that they will definitely beat her.
