Ninja Slayer's source material is an LN
And the LN is as intentionally hilariously bad as the anime.
The LN's marketed as the translation of some obscure american novel about ninjas written by a weeaboos (it isn't. It's part of the marketing trick and concept of NS. Japanese writing what they think weebs obssesed with ninjas and gritty cyberpunk stuff from the 80's would write. I think the two authors also started the thing as a bunch of tweets before publishing it. So it has all sorts of awkward line breaks left there because of the twitter character limit)

The meta humor in NS was spot on. The resolution breaking is the most memorable, but other parts like the penultimate episode introducing itself as a recap episode then recapping things that were never shown and the way they would sexualize Nancy as much as possible but make sure that Koki's scenes were ultra pure were just as great.

Any thoughts on some on the manga stuff, especially what the anime didn't adapt? Pic related and Atrocity in Neo Saitama were great. Also Wataame a cute.

Honestly, if the anime looked like the manga does, it'd be lot more popular. Also, a good amount of stuff got truncated in the stories to fit in the 12 min format, like in One Minute Before the Tanuki and Last Girl Standing.

I like that NS Kills! has covered the whole first meeting between Ninja Slayer and Gendoso and Yukano, which is only alluded to in the anime's OP, and that the parts it's adapted so far have also shown better why Fujikido wouldn't just give Naraku free reign.

The latest volume having Fujikido trying to be Ninja Slayer even with Naraku sealed up was pretty cool too.

How much of the manga has been translated so far? Volume 9 has just come out in Japan, so I find it impressive we already got the first six.

My favorite one is Last Girl Standing, but the late volumes got some anime references, like the pause in ep 1 or YEEART GWAAH rush against Darkninja. There is also an absurdly long ep from part 2 with some Genocide backstory.

10/10 lots of screaming for those few words I actually understood and my ears are now ringing.

In the manga Nancy wears a dress when she's in the IRC kotodama space (lol) that slowly gets torn fighting off the MULTIPLE LOGIN Daedaluses. Her scenes are longer in the manga, and they have her do some crazy Ninja Slayer-esque acrobatic shit because she can do that inside of cyberspace.

Speaking of which, NSK has just got to that episode, and it's missing lots of stuff. Most importantly, they still haven't introduced the Survival Dojo, so Ninja Slayer fights some Motor Dokuros instead.

Also, the way they have completely redrawn the line on the right makes my scanlator self sad, because we'll never be able to get the raw drawings and just put the text on top of it. That said, it seems like even the official translations couldn't get rid of it completely.
