Now that I think about it, Gon-san didn't made a huge impact in me. It was interesting and a huge "shit just got serious" moment but the pinacle of CA is Meruem. It's so well done, Komugi and the final scene is just too amazing, a really well capture of a progresive humanization.

Maybe he will get some sort of other power from one of the remaining calamities.
Remember that all the calamities that were mentioned have been brought back to the human world from earlier journeys to the dc.

Since we know that Alluka is Ai and the Zobae dude (girl?) is locked up, that leaves Hellbell, Pap and Brion.
Hellbell is probably tied to either Melody (Sonata of Darkness) or Hisoka (his lust for murder).
So that leaves Pap and Brion, Pap could be tied to Gyro and the pleasure drug D² but that's just me speculating.
Brion is a biological weapon, so it probably spreads via pollen (or rape vines?) and grants its hosts new abilities or reinforces their abilities, if Alluka is anything to go by we can expect something like forcing people into 'Gon-san' mode (compressing their lifetime/aura).

But knowing Togashi it will probably be something completely different and unexpected, well it's still fun to theorize.

It's not terrible but I did wish it went in a different direction than fightsfightsfights. I enjoyed the arc when it was just the queen and there was still a certain amount of mystique surrounding the events, but when it turned into a life-or-death battle against furries in street clothes I lost most of my interest. The only thing that interested me was the drama.

What he should have done was finish the manga after Gon finished his hunt (he is no more a Hunter Hunter) by meeting his dad, and make him live a normal kid life from now on (after finishing the hunt, he's not even a Hunter, pottery) with Ging promising to be around there to raise him now.

Then make a new Dark Continent spin off series with Yusuke, I mean Ging, as the main character, featuring Leorio and Kurapika as "now it's our time to shine" secondary main characters.

To be honest, I'd be fine with Gon not appearing in the story again. He became a hunter, finally met his dad, and we've seen his power when his potential is unlocked. Killua's arc has pretty much ended and since his arc was dependent on Gon, I don't think it'd be as interesting if we just got more adventures focused around them.

Overall, comparing the series on the whole (the manga), HxH is clearly superior to YYH.

However, if you compare the anime shows relatively (as in which is the better adaptation) then YYH is mostly superior. It doesn't drag on anything or add bad filler. Instead it could even be argued that the anime improved the manga with some things (Jorge, the English dub adding extra zest to the original writing). On the other hand, both HxH adaptations are objectively inferior to the manga.

I'm pretty sure that most of the people who complain about Chimera Ant arc or Greed Island arc are people who only watched the anime and never read the manga, since those arcs are the most butchered one (GI by both anime adaptations, especially the first one and CA's first half if not more was unbearable and the latter half dragged on too in 2011).

You're taking kite coming back as just retconning a death, but it's more than that. His survival was meant to rub it in Gon's face that he was wrong for not trusting in Kite's capabilities as a hunter, and his selfish tantrum caused his friends a great deal of pain and grief for virtually no purpose. Gon didn't actually need to take revenge. Pitou would have still died anyway by going to Meruem's side post rose. Obviously he didn't know either of these things, but his self destructive actions caused nothing but problems for those around him, for absolutely no gain.

Kurama's fights were always great, Hiei's most of the time, Kuwabara's half the time, but Yusuke's... only ones I liked were the early ones and maybe the Toguro fight (but even that dragged on incredibly long). I almost fell asleep every time he fought someone else in the tournaments and the Phoenix guy before that and everyone, even Sensui afterwards.

HxH still has a decent number with machi and pitou and whatnot. What you see on sadpanda doesn't really represent what artists have done for the series. But I think that all the hiatus is a bigger factor in the lack of doujins than the girls themselves.

Arc was fine, only thing that killed it was gons bs magical super powerup out of nowhere.
