Sales paint a terrible situation for Jump. Even after years of decline, Toriko is still outselling BC and Yuuna. And Samon, Sesuji, and Kimetsu are still selling less than 50k each. These are advertised as Jump's "New Order" and they can't sell worth a damn.

Their only hope is that Neverland taps into whatever made AssClass such a hit.

Two years is the standard for adaptations to start coming in. And the length doesn't mean anything given that World Trigger lasted for two years non-stop and sales didn't increase substantially at all. Just be glad that they actually gave a shit about MHA to not give a shoddy adaption or relegate it to short format. For its length you can pretty much blame the timeslot it was on because they had made contracts with several shows to make pointless continuations this year (Arslan and NnT) which fucked up the schedule. You really just have to give it time for it to catch on, not like the anime did bad or anything it did pretty okay all things considered and yeah it did its job by getting people to buy the source of material which keeps increasing every volume after the anime. Seems like they won't be dragging their feet come the second season given they'll have to get through the Sports Festival arc's 22 chapters to get to Stain.

They have 22 series currently. Hunter is on indefinite hiatus, and Boruto is a monthly. One Piece and World Trigger have random breaks. That leaves 18 series reliably published every week. Jump doesn't need to cut anything, it has room to spare. That's probably why they're publishing that Kochikame mini-series, need to fill up pages.

Maybe they'll even introduce one new series at the tail end of the year like they did with Buddy Strike last year. To take the spot of Minna no Kochikame.

As a fan I do agree that it is 'generic' in the sense that it doesn't do anything new nor does it have an inventive setting that allows it to do new things either, but it's not like rehashing is that simple either. Sure, you can rehash whatever elements of other things you want, but it isn't so easy to do it well, deciding which parts should be rehashed and when to incorporate things, and you still need good writing to tie it together. Heroaca got that part right.
