Where did Haifuri go so wrong?

>MIND CONTROL HAMSTERS
Someone saw that in the script and said "Yes, this is good"
The first episode.
>>148313435
That's the least of it.
It was an unfocused mess that took itself way too seriously while uderdeveloping characters and butting in SOL and yuri pandering in an awfully clunky way.

One anon pointed out that the dramatic tension was the highest at the start. Then it went down, episode-by-episode.
Sounded very accurate to me.
Can it be salvaged (so to speak) with a sequel?
>>148314252
No.
Reminder that Mina takes messy shits and that Kuro has haemorrhoids.
It forgot that the stakes are supposed to go up as the story progresses, not down.
I get the impression there must have been some kind of meddling in the plot, because the developments in the first episodes really did just get orphaned for no apparent reason. Even the MIND CONTROL HAMSTERS that everyone loves to complain about could have been fine as part of the plot, but instead they're just written off as a random escaped science project in an offhand remark the cast don't even hear.
>>148314252
Not really, the one thing it has going for it is that they wrapped up the story.
>>148313657
If anything it did a good job at giving equal focus to all the girls despite having so many.
I blame the captain
>>148313392
a bunch of teenage girls sailing in a post-apocalyptic world with a ship that smells like vagina
what was right to begin with
>>148314252
I wouldn't mind a new story in the same universe. I think they could probably pinpoint all the major issues and fix them if they got a second shot. I don't think the show did as well as the producers hoped, though, so the chances for that happening are probably pretty slim.

The German and the orange hair girls interactions were the best thing
>>148314623
>post-apocalyptic
Was it really?
I liked it.
Nowhere, it was quite nice. Waiting for second season.
>>148314669
This.
>>148314624
Well, can we really guess which is more likely:
"Yeah, we done goofed, let's try again"
or
"It was great, forget the haters."
>>148314674
Not in the traditional sense, but they were obviously way above the actual ground. The OP even showed submerged cities.
>>148314252
Maybe, if they treated the first season as a kind of prologue to the real serious stuff. From interviews, though, I get the impression they'd be more likely to totally move away from that and just go full training and mock battles with no tension beyond wanting to win the interclass tournament, which is exactly the last thing it needs.
>>148313392
When we thought it was going to be an interesting conspiracy and not mind control hamsters.
>>148314624
I actually like this idea. They set up a really cool universe, but did nothing interesting with it.
Moka-chan stinks.
Literally all it had to be was GuP on boats to be successful.
I think they wanted a hit like GuP but were too afraid to make it too similar. As a result the show was just all over the place.

Ships sink when they get shot.
Tanks just simply get a few dents and burn a bit.
