You bought Kino's book, right /a/? It came out today.
Kino is moe now?
I glued the pages together.
On to the next thing.
>>148310954
Kino was always moe. Cold, serious, unflinching moe.
>>148310954
Kino was always moe. Tell me you wouldn't squeeze her cheeks.

>>148311925
Why is this a .gif?
Why isn't it just a picture?
Also how many layers is best Kino?
>>148312094
>>148312074
Volume 20.
>>148312843
none
>>148312843
All of her is best.
Would /a/ lewd her?
>>148313070
Image was too lewd. Same question though.
>>148313070
Only if she was fine with it.
>>148313070
she'd proabably kill me first
to be honest, tumblr and shit aside, kino is one of the few teen mcs who actually might be completely asexual
Is there an english translation or is it all moonrunes
>>148310908
I would buy all of Kino's books if I knew where to find them
>>148313238
Gakuen Kino isn't.
But that isn't Kino-Kino.
Are there scans yet? I want to look at the pretty pictures.
>>148314676
None yet. Bakatsuki doesn't even list Vol. 20 still.
There's a crop of this year's lewd image of Kino. It's her without any pants on in her dress shirt completely drenched in water.
>>148315360
And a blurred full-image of it I found on 2chan. Neither's from volume 20, mind you.
>tfw you're nogunz scum
>>148316303
I always liked how the art on the cover is different from the art inside the book.
Does anyone on /a/ even read the books?
Kino threads are rare enough, and they're all about the anime.
>>148317085
I'm currently learning Japanese, and plan on picking up the 18 volume boxed set soon.
>>148317085
I do from time to time. The stories are pretty neat. Would definitely say the best one so far is the one about Master and her companion going to a village with a really fucking long name and listening to a little girl say the village name.
Best Kino/Hermes story I've read so far is either the one where Kino gets Flute and then uses Flute to kill a squad of heroes or the one where Kino accepts to act as a bodyguard for a young woman, her baby, and some men protecting them.

>Would definitely say the best one so far is the one about Master and her companion going to a village with a really fucking long name and listening to a little girl say the village name.
Really? It's a good story, but I wouldn't have that one near the top at all. Hmm.
Well, as for the other stories, I tend to like the longer ones. I like the one where Kino was an assassin to kill the diva and that boy and they had to run from her. Also the story about the ship-city where we meet Ti.
It's been a while though. I'd have to go through them again, there might be some more I liked better.
>>148317289
>No Heroes story
that was really cool for how action-heavy it was but it was kind of disappointing reading it the second time for how thematically vacuous it was. I started re-reading a lot of Kino a while back and I struck me how few of the stories are really hard hitting thematically, and how many lean more into comedy or absurdism than anything else.
Shout out to that story I don't remember very well where Shizu and Tea are on a boat and Kino is like hired by some fascist thugs to kill them though. The ones where the show really leans into Kino's ambiguous morals are definitely the best.
>>148317690
Kino was given the same offer as Shizu, but instead of being humble and going with the villagers, she chose to stay with theandroid crewinstead, because it'd be nicer than the shit Shizu ended up having to put up with.
Though, Shizu did get a loli out of it. Said loli DID also fucking stab him though.
I still find it funny how different the library country visit was in the LN than it was in the show. One's a nice, simple little visit where Kino spergs out about books she read overnight with the librarian and sees a dude off who's trying to be an author while the anime has a whole bunch of weird shit going on.

>Kino was given the same offer as Shizu, but instead of being humble and going with the villagers, she chose to stay with the android crew instead, because it'd be nicer than the shit Shizu ended up having to put up with.
Right, and this is the best part about Kino, trying to parse her line between pragmatism and morality. Seems to basically be "be moral as long as it's not an inconvenience".
>>148317940
the kind of moral reasoning she engages in is inscrutable a lot of the time, which I guess it what makes the whole thing interesting. Her actions make a really oblique kind of sense where it's implied she lives by a code but what that code consists of is totally unknown to the viewer/reader.
>>148317940
I think that one chapter about what Kino, Shizu and Master did when they came across two men arguing about how to split up loot from an abandoned carriage really tells a lot about the characters.
Kino doesn't really care so long as they don't bother her.
Shizu forces them to divide it equally between themselves.
Master makes both of them give everything they found to her.
>>148318017
she seems duty bound, but her duties are like, far removed from traditional deontological duties. Things like "don't take teeth out of dead bandits skulls" and "don't interfere in a lethal lover's quarrel".
>>148317940
Well her main goal above all else is to survive.
I like the short stories where we see 3 of the same setting or scenarios from all 3 of the traveling groups point of view.
>>148318054
Yeah like this one.
>>148318054
right, I guess that makes sense, and the use of Shizu as a moral foil to Kino is pretty obvious. I just think it's interesting the way in which her "bare self-interest" translates into her decisions. Praying for those rabbits in episode 2, presumably because it would hurt her conscience not to, vs. not trying to interfere with that genocidal town in episode 12, I guess because she assumed it was a fool's errand/more trouble than it's worth.
>>148318194
like the former demonstrates that she has a lot of empathy but the latter that there are clear limits to the extent on which she'll act on it. I guess it all just goes back to her survival-first mentality though.
>>148318194
Though, it's also interesting to see how much things go wrong for Shizu because he tries to do the right thing. He tries to free a village from a group of bandits by murdering all of them by himself and ends up covering the whole place in blood and getting himself kicked out because they never asked for his help in the first place.
On the other hand, Kino's self-determination's caused trouble in some places as well, when she nearly gets drugged and married off to some nomad and said nomad helps her escape and ends up burning their opium, causing all the adults to burn to death trying to save it due to their extreme dependence on it.
Said guy also gets fucking murdered by the orphans of the other nomads.
Though I do have to say, KnT's at its most comfiest when it's just Kino and Hermes in an otherwise empty area, such as the chapter where Kino is taking a nap and Hermes keeps bothering her or when Kino and Hermes pass by a store in the middle of a prairie that sells nuclear bombs. Both are really comfy.
>>148318072
Well, as for the teeth thing, it just seemed she didn't like doing something like that. And the reasoning that she uses behind not interfering is that she isn't God most of the time.
I don't think she has much of a code though. She really just does whatever she feels like.
I was going to use an example but I don't remember if I was remembering it correctly, and bakatsuki is down.
>>148310908
I'm still on v14 but I'll catch up quickly.
>>148318405
>Though, it's also interesting to see how much things go wrong for Shizu because he tries to do the right thing. funny thing about that scene though is that if I recall it was pretty much the exact outcome Shizu had expected and prepared for. I guess the stories try to reduce morality to a function of preference which I really like. There's still something pretty enigmatic I find about Kino though in a way that Shizu isn't.
>>148318714
I think the best way to understand her is to look at her origin as this really harsh combination of trauma at the hands of her parents and life-affirmation from the hands of old Kino. Survivalism as an expression of her affection for the gesture of old kino and incredulity at his death.
>>148318779
She grew up well enough under Master. Though, even then she still went through some weird shit like being sent out by Master to learn something that Master couldn't teach her, so Master sent her to commute to a school for a couple months or so to learn how to build IEDs, and then it turned out that her classmates learning how to make IEDs because they were going to be suicide bombers and their teacher was a radical and the school a training camp for terrorists.
Though, you'd probably want to change your name too if you were namedPoppy.
>フォト and ソウ stories will never be translated
Wish I knew Japanese
I'd buy Kino if I could instead.
>>148318405

>>148319069
I'd rather be her companion.
>>148319016
Oh yeah, I forgot there's a new duo.
