tl;dr version

Humikane has been making Witches non-stop since 2007. The very first formal squadron he completed was the 501st (But by no means are the 501st the first ever witches) and that got an anime in 2008 and 2010 respectively. But he never exactly stopped creating more Witches and building the world. There's an entire goddamn widely built universe in SW and pinning it strictly to a single "source" is difficult considering that all sorts of media this franchise got.

It's just that up until now, only the 501st got anime focus. Well, not anymore though.

The Suomus Misfits were only retroactively known as the 507th when Humikane created the other JFW squadrons.

Also, the full ensemble Suomus Misfits only really became complete in the latter novels in 2008. However, as early as January 2007, the prototype/OVA of the SW anime was already out and it contained the full ensemble of the 501st.

So for all intents and purposes, the first truly complete and formally organized Squadron that Humikane made was the 501st.

I hope they all show up next episode, I am so hype for the new girls to be animated and voiced. So far this is looking really good except for the shitty CG, I forgot how much I love this series. I really hope it does well enough so that will get more world witches seasons, I need my 504th anime.

But I am even more hype for the new figs that will come out of this, I hope Alter makes one of every new girl, the Alter figs too good, I want to collect the full set. Who is everything planning on buying first?
