The LN art is great but I like the slightly funky designs of the anime as it makes it a tiny bit less generic looking. A lot of LN art literally looks the fucking same series to series and the anime give it more of a defining look (for example index/railgun, JCstaff put more pronounced eyelashes on the girls in railgun and it's great).

DEEN was a great studio to animate KonoSuba, the dodgy and cheap style fits really well with the anime. I've tried imaging what it'd be like if other studios picked it up, maybe with a higher budget, but I can only see it resulting in a worse overall experience.

I was somewhat okay with the art, then they showed Yunyun in her butchered glory and her drooping middle aged titties. The girl is like 14.

If they wanted to focus on the comedy then the fanservice should have been completely stripped out of the show, period. Any attempt at it with the horrible DEEN art is nauseating. Laughing because of ironic reasons don't make an anime good, if that was the case then I would be outright claiming Kiznaiver was best comedy of last season. Unless it was intentionally trying to be "bad" in its art designs, which wasn't the case, Konosuba was bad in the art department. Whether this bad aspect is received is up to the viewers.
Maybe I'll concede on the point that bad art making it more fun but at the same time, a lot of people complain about it on /a/ and even more so on other sites, which mean it wasn't so funny to other people as much as it is funny to you. I would even go further as to argue that having good art would benefit the show much more because the golden comedy came from the skits itself, not the saggy tits or ugly faces. While some found it funny I found it hideous and detracting from the experience. As the original TV series progress, the closer we're too the last ep the more I notice visible art improvement and I can definitely say that I enjoy Konosuba more when it looks pretty.
And fucking define generic. It might not be that special compares to top tier artist with distinctive artstyle but those illustrations still look polished (for the most part) and pleasant, even more so when compare to the anime.
