I guess thematically I can see some issues people might have with The Berserk Armor being that Guts is supposed to be full human and his appeal is that he can go toe to toe with monsters through sheer force of will rather than by shounen power ups. But I'm fine with the Berserk armor cause unlike other powerups (Super Saiyan, Gears, etc) it actually has repercussions and he can't go crazy with it. I'm still confused at some people who think Guts will turn to an apostle though, what are they smoking.

Plenty of ways to avoid 10 vs 1 situations. It wouldn't be new for Guts to use his brain to pull something hopeless off. Remember when he went pyroman and ambushed Rosine where she wouldn't be able to poison him or fly fast?

Guts would've died at the witch tree house if it weren't for the armor. He was already wearing the armor when he was getting his shit kicked in. So if he just went with his normal gear, he would've just died after the first hit.

Comparing Zodd's old fights doesn't work since he's never serious. He only fights for the thrill of it. He basically just expects Guts to perform at a certain level, then backs off when his expectation is reached. He could've easily stood back up and finish off Guts if he felt like it.

And they have a generally friendly relationship, it isn't like Void and SK's at all. I do think SK is slightly superior, but it's interesting that they fought at both Flora's and Albion and we don't see the conclusion of either matches.

Also SK would probably lose to that White Hawk form that Zodd lost to in his dream btw, and he's definitely still far off being able to kill the Godhand.

My problem is more that apostles have been turned into redshirts now. See the first arc of the manga where Guts struggled for an entire volume against some apostles, and compare it to the more recent ones where they get slaughtered by the truckload every time Guts in Berserker armor or Ganishka showed up. The Godhand faction really should've had a lower tier of minions to fulfill those roles of dying early to show off powerlevels because the whole "chosen by destiny" shit really doesn't seem to apply to those guys.

I don't know it's just not why I started reading Berserk because Part 2 of Jojo for instance is about some fuck fighting unkillable demigods using his brain. Berserk was supposed to be like watching someone play Dark Souls for the first time and somehow never die. Except a big part of the plot was Guts winning despite all odds by being a mad dog. Remember those flashbacks where Guts trains to settle the score with Zodd? Or the Wyald fight where Guts says he wants to do it alone, for himself? Or even the Rosine fight where Guts becomes a monster to be able to hold his own? The Berserker armor destroys all that, you push the switch and you're a monster who goes super fast and doesn't feel pain.

Guts always felt pain, that's why panels like pic related are so iconic, because he feels the pain of having his mouth pierced but he's too fucking mad to care. Mad, enraged, not "he turned on the magical dwarf armor"
