I always imagined the four Yuu-s as having small, cute penises, not as small as Sora's and Reira's, but still pretty small, maybe 4 1/2 inches tops. Some are calling that the fusion pendulum may appear, some are calling xyz summon victory and in a most shocking twist, some are calling that victory will come through Odd Eyes Rebellion. Akiko Toyoda started as a key animator in early Zexal, and eventually became an animation director somewhere late in its run (examples would be episodes 138 and 146). She (she's a grill) also did some work on G Reco way back when, and I think was also working on the DSOD movie.

Whether or not she'll continue as an animation director on Yugioh, or even just as an occasional key animator, is yet to be seen.

Even then if there was no movie how can you say that Arc-V would've been given more budget than it already has been allotted? We literally have no concrete numbers from which to say that Arc-V had a significantly lower budget than previous YGO series. Anime has been known to be made on the cheap anyways so it's probably not a significant difference. Certainly in Arc-Vs case hiring prolific VAs also hurts too so that's on the staff for choosing to hire such costly VAs.

All the gold in the world doesn't matter a shit if you don't have the connections to reach out to and persuade the animators you want on board. Since it's not like animators enter the industry for the money, connections and networking matter a lot.

A ton of Zexal was also outsourced, but even their worst teams were at least alright or passable most of the time. Especially compared a studio like Blanc that's responsible for the shittiest looking Arc-V episodes.

I don't know what happened there since it doesn't seem like Zexal's outsource studios were contracted for the movie, their best guys and other one-off hires seemed to have made up most of the DSOD team.

Since the director and producers have a hand in gathering the talent together, it may be that Zexal's director (despite what he lacks in storytelling skills) had the right connections to make Zexal's production values look the way they did.

Synchro established the indirect impact of Academia on the lone neutral party and how Roger's influence radically shifted the balance of power in favor of Tops and the Council through things like Real Solid Vision and the mind control chip system, leaving the Council free to sit complacent as the society around them gradually eroded due to the aforementioned shift in power.

Synchro unveiled the methods Academia uses to attack a given dimension and showed how Ruri/Rin was captured and also showed how Yugo and Yuto met. Synchro explained how the training curriculum at Academia is generally set up through Sora's flashback in 80.

Additionally, with regards to the convenient situation for character development, Reiji outright says that development of the self is important for a duelist's improvement, this being stated in ep 67 regarding Reira, but also serving to explain his motivation for heading to Synchro with the Lancers considering how Yuya's emotional plays caused him to get D/D/D'd in eps 50-51.

It was a pretty interesting arc all things considered, and I felt the character development stuff itself was handled pretty well for most of them. The issue I noticed was that a lot of the development was so spread out over the Friendship Cup that certain things would get easily forgotten by the time the resolution finally came about.

Like, Shun's a lot more notably cooperative with the lancers from the start than he's given credit for; he's a bit tsundere, but when they're actually in trouble, he jumps right in to help (like in 62-63). So, the Crow duel, while it's typically seen as this big moment for Shun, is really just a moment for him to drop the paranoia Dennis tried pushing him into, gain some proper focus, and ease up a bit since he was never really against most of the lancers (aside Reiji) to begin with.

I rather liked the way that worked with Reiji sending them to Synchro so he could basically engineer a relatively safe situation where Yuya and the rest could git gud without the penalty of death. It came with the unfortunate side effect of him leaving most of the grunt work to Tsukikage for the arc, but it felt like the most Reiji way to lead them; with him sending them into a controlled live environment like that to test them against varied scenarios and monitor their progress throughout.

I find it funny that I was one of the only people defending the twins after they dueled Sayaka and Allen while these threads were shitting on them for almost losing. Now Grace is one of the most talked about characters despite regressing.

Roger was a missed opportunity to add more to the story. We weren't really given any good reasons as to why he left Academia in the first place. I mean that seems really weird to be honest. Everyone in Academia seems to be under the same ideals that Leo has imposed on them. Why is Roger defecting? We could've seen what Roger's thoughts of Leo are and a glimpse into what his master plan is.

Speaking of imposed ideals, we don't know how Leo even convinced the majority of citizens in Fusion to adhere to his cause. We could've gotten insight into that through Roger since it's implied he once bought into Leo's ideals but later rejected them for some unknown reason. We know that Roger knows Leo wants the Ruris, but we could've found a bit more about why he wants those Ruris exactly.

I also don't like how the development was so spread out. They should've cut Synchro into 25 episodes and focused on half of the characters that were supposed to be relevant by the story's narrative such as Yugo, Yuzu, and Reiji.

Characters like Reira, Serena, and Shun would'be been better developed in XYZ since the environment synergizes with their internal struggles.

For Shun, Heartland is where Academia first attacked and it would've worked better if Dennis betrayed them right then and there in front of Edo and company so that we could have more insight on Shun's thoughts of a clear cut betrayal right in front of him in his own homeland which makes it more emotional and then the Lancers could come to aid him to show he's not alone and he has NAKAMA.

For Reira it would work twice as better because Heartland is a war-torn country with impoverished people most likely similar to whatever place Reira lived in the past when he was being hunted down by soldiers. The PTSD would be even more effective than usual and the strength to believe in himself and fight against his fears with the Lancers cheering with him would be more impactful.

For Serena, she would be able to see just how much damage Academia caused and how they utterly destroyed all these people's lives. In Synchro it wasn't nearly as effective because that dimension was still relatively intact and even though Academia invaded the damage they caused was minimal since they're all weak jobbers.

I also think Xyz would've been perfect for Sora as well. He could've been the replacement for the Tyler Sisters and his EGAO duel with Yuya would be a perfect foil to his first duel with Yuya way back in Standard long ago. Plus we would have his development right in front of us rather than off-screen which is lazy as fuck.

These are just a few things I would change from Synchro to make it a much more valued and tolerable arc and add more depth to XYZ as well.

But then why did he suddenly change sides so quickly when he realized there was an opportunity to take over the Synchro dimension?

Clearly it shows his allegiance to Academia was never that strong in the first place if he's so blatantly going behind Leo's back to do all this shit and even going as far as to impede Leo's plans to capture Ruris by trying to get his hands on Selena and Yuzu.

Did Leo wrong Roger in some way? Was Roger dissatisfied with his position in Academia? We didn't get nearly as much insight on how Roger thinks to really understand him as a character. Instead of being Arc-V's first legitimately good villain he was turned into a bumbling moron who was only good for REEEEEEEEING and his varied reaction faces. In short, he was nothing more than a meme. Roger should have driven the overall narrative more. At least the writers did one thing right by having Reiji face off against him.

The overall goal in life is to be happy with where you are. If you feel like you can do better and you want to then by all means go for it. But if you're in a place where you could do better but are satisfied with your current situation then that's perfectly fine too. The show also could of emphasized Sawatari and Yuya shared value of entertainment, but again don't want to. Because they want to focus on Yuya's one sided "muh entame" nonsense.
