What's 'comfortable' for you? For me it's only comfortable if I stop making mistakes ever, and thus it took me some good ~2-3 months to get into hiragana. No clue, before I knew it I could read hiragana comfortably.
You don't need to go out of your way to study hiragana after the initial learning phase (which should only last a few days), you'll encounter them enough that they'll be second nature soon enough.

Just wrote hiragana characters about 10 times in a row for each.Took me maybe half an hour? Then I started doing genki first reading then writing (looking chars up whenever i didn't know how to read or write them.). There are free apps on Android that should be enough for learning Japanese in my opinion, I used some before but I don't remember them since I've long dropped them. Anki and Tae Kim should be all you really need from the store though.
