A very large part of Adventure is how she has to rely on her onii-chan to protect her and this trait is only brought up one other time in 02. Outside of that, what even is Hikari's character? Do you remember episode 21 of Adventure? The one where Taichi goes back to the real world and we see Hikari for the first time? That episode she was creepy as fuck. We never get anything like that from Hikari ever in Adventure or 02 and the closest thing that Hikari has as a character is "girl Takeru" since both of them are basically the same person by 02 and Tri has only just begun to give her some sense of a different personality

Mimi is much more in tune with things than it would appear at first glance. The main reason Mimi is generally thought of as the main girl is that it felt like she is consistently the only girl that actually got consistent attention from the staff. Sora is practically just a mom, Hikari had like no character story at all and came in too late to get one and the less said about Miyako the better. Mimi actually has a character arc and a dynamic personality.

Remember how she split off from the group cause she couldn't handle it and came back with an army? Remember when in this movie alone she straight up gets in the girls talking about her's face? Typically by having a chronic weakness you do not have your shit together. I am not knocking Hikari for being sick by the way, I know about that facet. I'm talking about how, because she came far too late in the story, she never got to properly develop and because of this as well as 02's writing failures in general, all her character was was "obligatory girl" and to parallel Takeru in everything. The only real episodes she got were the two Dark Ocean ones and I think we know what a mistake that turned out to be.

That's part of why she's so well-loved. When Mimi's on screen, most of the time you're guaranteed to have something hilarious happen. If it's not hilarious, then it's emotional. The Lilimon evolution in episode 35 is a brilliant example of the latter.

An important part of why it felt like they gave Mimi a lot more attention in Adventure than the others is because her voice actress Ai Maeda (AiM LOVE) was an up and coming idol back then. It had the double benefit of being the voice of Mimi did absolutely wonders for her popularity

yamato is trying to find a way to help taichi deal with all these difficulties, but is unable to be there for his friend because he's feeling angry and hurt and betrayed. he's relearning what true friendship really is

even hikari, to a smaller extent, seemed unsure of herself after she was unable to get through to joe during their chat in the rain. it's been a while since she needed to use her gifts of light in order to push someone else forward and help them find themselves, but she managed to recapture it at the end.

ken got his shit kicked in by alphamon. now we haven't seen what's been going on behind the scenes, but we know that when shit went down with milleniumon, ken lost his shit, and felt that the only way for him become powerful enough to protect those he cared about was through violence and anger. it's likely those same feelings of weakness rose up again now. he's still got a lot of growing to do if he's going to relearn how to find strength rooted in kindness.

all of these follow with the prophecy - you need to cross through the darkness in order to find the light. only by first being dragged down by your flaws can you overcome them to find true strength. i'm sure the same applies to ken

i'd guess that for now, hackmon is just investigating/snooping around at gankoomon's behest. gankoomon doesn't really jump on board with the rest of the RK, so he's having hackmon confirm his suspicions that alphamon is behind it. hackmon's entire deal is observing battles in order to gain experience, he's just doing that. on top of that, i can't imagine they would create the child form of digi-jesus and then have him be a bad guy
