The anime covers the first 4 books (1-A and B, 2-A and B) and it's a pretty faithful adaptation. Some stuff is left out due to the length of the books, but everything important is in. Both are good desu. The first 2-3 LN volumes (7 books) are mostly just introduction/setup anyway, so overall the LN would be superior. The anime is fun though.
