wow, looks great. Has this faggot done anything besides stand on the backs of established creators. If not: what a fucking waste, should have his fingers broken.
When you draw the exact same face every single day, every year, you're bound to get pretty decent at it eventually. I just wish you'd stop shilling your work everywhere all the time.
An unrelated question but I'm going to use this thread, but Illya is a male name? Or somehow changes when it's Ilya? Why does she has a male name then? It has some special meaning or what?
>Thoughts on kuvshinov ilya?
He earns a lot (not Sakimichan LOT, but still a lot) and his art is popular. And I thought fan artists like him are supposed to be poor, hell I was wrong.
Personally I like some of his images. But I'm getting tired of his style. He uses chromatic aberration everywhere.
I've seen some SHOCKING TRUTH about him tracing figs or images of some other artists but honestly only fools would care about originality of art. Especially that kind of art with video games, movies, anime. Everyone does that, everyone is using samples in music or tracing originals in art or rehashing lyrics, etc.
>He suffers from major same face.
This statement is painfully irrelevant considering how every single anime artist and his dog is "suffering" from sameface syndrome.
Hell, his style is far from someone like Tony Taka or Takeuchi.
>only fools would care about originality of art
never gets old tbqh senpaitachi
>only fools would care about originality of art
Yoko Kanno is using "STOLEN" samples in her music. Woah! A true shocker! Sentence her to death.
No one cares.
He doesn't even try to vary the faces though, that's the problem. He has the skill to, but he refuses. His work is stale and he doesn't take risks with it.
And again, just because a lot of shit out there suffers from sameface does not make it okay.
He references extremely heavily, but he's got good skills. It's pretty boring desu, but the girls look cute. The amount of skill, but hopelessly crutching on references makes him on par with someone trying to git gud. Definitely not great.
You are obviously not artists and don't know how it works. A golden rule for any new artists is to find some professional artist you admire and copy the shit out of him. Yeah, that's it. You copy and you learn by doing that. You are not original. You are not bringing anything new. You are pretty much shit artist and you have to rely on someone else. And if you are working hard enough you'd eventually become better and step aside of copying.
Only fools care about originality. Nothing is original, everything was made before you.
Well, I'm sorry you have gotten depressed and stooped so low as to become a mere copycat, but there is a way to be completely original and Ilya and Yoko do not do those things. Have some respect for the industry, faggot.
I'm pretty sure I learned about her ages before you, kiddo.
And yeah, that drama about her "stealing samples" is non existent in reality. Literally no one gives a shit about it in studios or Japan in general.
Because everyone does that. Sawano, Kanno, Kajiura. Getting inspired by something else, rehashing your own works, use samples, etc. It's common practice for any artists.
>A golden rule for any new artists is to find some professional artist you admire and copy the shit out of him
Did you read that from a deviantart tutorial? Well, you get 8/10, for actually making me reply.
Really popular Russian male name (Iliya) even in slavic folklore.
not him, but as a noob artist myself, I have always been under the impression that artists often assimilate one another's style. Not complete copying but only taking parts that you like.
The only reason it's a drama is because she's one of the larger composers that gets away from it more frequently. While it's a shame, there's a difference between taking something from other composers and turning it into your own thing, and blatantly ripping them off as Kanno does.
(You) here, as a fellow artist struggling to find the fine line between originality and plagiarism, the line isn't as hard to find if you know the difference between influence and imitation. The latter tends to happen more when people get comfortable and lazy.
>Well, I'm sorry you have gotten depressed and stooped so low as to become a mere copycat, but there is a way to be completely original and Ilya and Yoko do not do those things. Have some respect for the industry, faggot.
And both of them are extremely successful and popular.
Wow, I bet some jealous poorfag like you could tell them how wrong they are but I doubt you'd pass face control with your acne face. :^)
Yeah some DeviantArt guy said it. He was right! What a guy he is.
>The only reason it's a drama is because she's one of the larger composers that gets away from it more frequently. While it's a shame, there's a difference between taking something from other composers and turning it into your own thing, and blatantly ripping them off as Kanno does.
As long as her music is great I don't fucking care if she uses samples or not.
What rubs me the wrong way is his fan art. Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't you like, supposed to be a fan of something for your work to be called "fan art"? Because posting pics of a video game character, the name of which you don't even know, the day the first trailer comes out, just to ride on the hype, only looks like disgusting attention-whoring to me. Especially when those pics are often traced from promo images.
>What rubs me the wrong way is his fan art. Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't you like, supposed to be a fan of something for your work to be called "fan art"? What makes you think he doesn't know it?
He says here that he plays, watches and reads a lot.
I don't know Ilya but I know some other Russian artists. They are nerds, they watch anime, play video games, read visual novels and manga. Don't know what's so special about it. Pretty common stuff.
>Picasso is some Internet deviant art artist
Lots of revelations ITT.
Yes, you should be pretty damn embarrassed for not knowing how to use google in the year 2015.
I-I had the image ready on my PC, so i-it's not like I saw that much trouble to help you or anything. This is the last time you're getting my attention, so you'd better do your own work next time, geez!
On the topic of originality, I find this documentary to be pretty interesting.
Does anyone not recognize this as being from Blade Runner?
It's a pretty famous photo, so I don't think it's supposed to be taken as an original thing.
Some on 4chan seem to hate anyone who is actively creative in any way. It's a weird 'crabs in a bucket' mentality people have here. So they go "same face??". or "hurdur chromatic aberration??" etc. As if they've ever created something themselves. I think it's textbook jealousy.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
I have no problem with a lot of his work having repeated elements, that's just his style.
The CA is ugly though, I wish he'd get rid of it.
It's just empty visual flare that will look dated in the future
I like how he draws eyes, and his coloring is good
he also appeals to my short-haired girls fetishbut for some reason I don't understand why he almost never draws full-body stuff. It's always small pictures on the same fucking resolution all the fucking time. Barely any dynamic poses at all, it feels static and lifeless.
Because he's lazy and completely copy other artworks with his render and then add the same girl face over and over again.
And then he sells that and gets money from it. There isn't the slightest originality besides using an existing picture, redrawing exactly the same thing with the only thing he knows. His girl face.
This thread kind of
well everyone's entitle to an opinion.
I think his great.
This is why I'm not a fan. Doing stuff like this is great for practice but why upload it? Do people really care that you've put that much effort into redrawing someone else's stuff almost verbatim?
The perfect example of selling out. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just business.
Trace and copy-paste a cute dollface on it once a day and make thousands off it.
If anyone would get that amount of money for it, to live comfortably off it and never need to work, they'd do it and never look back. Everyone envies success like that and with good reason.
I don't understand the point of this, why pay her if she doesn't even draws porn or chacters interacting/funny situations shit like that? I didn't see all of her works, but they're just taking a popular character and drawing it with her own style, nothing fun or espectacular, people do that for fucking free all the time, hell I could even get one of my drawfags friends to do that for me.
>$66,000 a month
I won't pretend I'm not jealous as fuck, but holy shit
could your drawfag friend get it done with that level of quality? Sakimichan actually spends a lot of time polishing her skills. As much as I hate her gimmicks, her style is clearly very well honed. On top of that she doesn't just draw anime, she draws all sorts of stuff in a (western) anime style. It's not very surprising she makes a lot off commissions when you factor those two together.
I'm jelly af desu.
Heh I just checked /trash/ right now and...
>could your drawfag friend get it done with that level of quality?
Not even close, but he would do it for free.
The point it's that I just don't understand why pay someone just to draw characters in her own style, I could understand it better if she created situations between characters (ships or whatever) or if she did porn, but it's not even that.
>over 65k per mouth
>some anon, with a interesant project, ask for 20k in kickstarter to make her dream come true and fail
She does draw
>I just don't understand why pay someone just to draw characters in [their] own style
why pay anyone for art at all?
that's true, but the market doesn't always demand 'skill', which would be easy to explain if you looked at the currently trending anime. Some shitty artists are going to do better than legitimately good artists, and it's the sad truth of the industry. You either sell out or you live a poorfag life being happy with your work.
You think that's bad?
Pic realeted is his art.
Man I've seen better art posted to pixiv for free. I wonder why so many amazing japanese artists don't have communities like this? I only know a few with patreon.
Make a patreon, I'll donate. Make a deviantart, darw popular shit like nardo, bleach etc. you have a good skill.
Kody Boy would have a bright future if he just made his own patreon. I bet lots would donate even if ironically.
Rage thread? okay.
This. kr0nshills are the worst. I'm convinced it's him too. I'm positive I even caught him post in a 3x3 thread where he posted only his own art in the pics. I checked the archives and called him out. Haven't seen it since,
although I haven't checked 3x3 threads in a long time.
>171 pages of the same fucking shit
This guy is nuts.
>My new badger character. His name is Steve. He's a scuba diver. He's my new character to live in Florida. He lives in Lantana.
A while back he would post threads on /v/ with his art as OP and then samefag responses like, "source on OP pic", "it's kr0nprinz, check out his patreon". And the same would happen every fucking day. I thought it might be him, so I told him to fuck off, and those replies were never made again, even though he still makes threads with his pics every now and then.
His shit all looks the same. Shit artist confirmed.
He doesn't actually, >>133972611 is per two weeks so he's getting a bit more. And damn, he's good.
> I dont get it.
Shiin has been doing this for years, so he build a pretty big fanbase thanks to that.
Actually, I myself discovered him a few years ago I liked his stuff for what they were, silly porn but the fetish made my hard and that was enough.
Except in the meantime I myself began drawing and because I that the flaws of all his pics began to get way too big, while it feels like the guy is also getting even worst as the time go. His coloring is horrendous and the faces are garbage. And to add shit he created this patreon like one or two years ago and he has been getting way too much money considering what he's usually doing.
Though to be fair. He sometimes does full doujin stories, and they're surprisingly hot.
>already hating him because of popularity
I like his works, he has a great sense of proportions, colors and his coloring style is unique. There is something catchy about each piece of his that makes you want to open and see it, it's a perfect medium of moe and semi-realism.
I'm drawing a body right now, still a wip. I only recently starting using my tablet again, so here's an old pencil drawing.
I'm not into drawing porn though, so it's kind of a weird baseline to start from.
Oh, and here's a male body. I'm currently studying perspective.
Apologies for non-/a/ related content.
Softcore, yes. Hardcore? Probably not, but it depends. I want to aim at a larger demographic.
Just a redraw of something I sketched a couple years back. It deviated a lot from its current form.
> I'm not into drawing porn though, so it's kind of a weird baseline to start from.
Not really. he's a PORN artist. What is important isn't how perfect looking it is, but if you will fap to it. And in that regard, his stuffs are pretty popular. Of course, you may not like it, but a lot of people still do. Shiin has got a pretty good diversity of poses in his comics, and they don't have the awful shading in his usual illustrations, which are overall much more lazier lately.
Or a some examples of pics from him I still like today and find damn hot.
I ten thousand times prefer a porn artist that I can use as fap fuel rather than ones that doesn't even makes me hard.
I threw up in my mouth a little
What the fuck is this shit?
this, not like he put bodies and background in perspective or shit like that. And to add fuel to the fire they're al copied. it's as lazy as you can be.
>I want to aim at a larger demographic.
Why be popular when you can be rich? A small but wealthy demographic can give you more cash than trying to appease a general audience. Just look at furfags. They throw so much money at garbage, it's incredible.
Don't question the dick, if it wasn't porn I would find that shit as well, but it still somehow gets me hard.
Though he's one of the few western guys I follow, all the rest is doujin/H-manga, and more high tier stuff like Jun's.
Artists usually fuck up when drawing big anime eyes in half realistic faces. He always draws them perfectly symmetrical and it never looks odd.
Show us your works. I'm an artist too.
Well, that's what I was saying. I don't draw porn, so it's weird to compare ME to someone who does.
Good point. It's something I'll have to think about in the future though.
He really good for what he does, which is really really, limited. One girl sameface, painting render, and the rest is copied from another artwork.
He has skills but he's beyond lazy. Compare with >>133975036 for some high tier illustrations with cute faces.
it's called having a set style. Look at Akira Toriyama and Araki
I agree more variation would be better but having similar samefaces isn't bad when it's still distinguishable from his other pictures
Yes. I'll be more specific: I draw objectively nicer than he does.
Do I draw porn better than him? No, it's not something I do in the first place.
So it's my own personal opinion, sorry for the misunderstanding.
Oh, yeah? guess what? I'm a artist too.
Just wanted to add, in technical sense, his works are fine. But that doesn't change the fact that he's completely devoid of ANY creativity and invention. Painting from references is worthless if you can't do anything else. Any retard can copy/stylize a photo or a movie screenshot. True challenge is creating something on your own.
What's really going on about that pic is the background, not the character. The animu in your pic is the definition of a sameface. You seem to think that detailed work means the artist is more talented.
The references I was talking about were animu too. He adapts it to his style.
Did Kron show any skill for bodies, perspective and backgrounds? He's good at what he does, which is limited, and he's lazy for a guy that gets so much money. That's all there is to say.
Why does Japan has a higher amount of quality artists?
He tweeted some sketches he did of real people in subway, parks and elsewhere outdoors, and he definitely has the skill to do varied kinds of people, perspectives and postures. He just never actually posts actual, original illustrations like that. It's like the guy literally can only draw what he sees and doesn't have an ounce of imagination.
Someone who can draw faces like that can nail bodies and anatomy. He has drawn great backgrounds too.
> Many times.
The pic you posted isn't supposed to be your example right?
And no, the face doesn't means much, since it's litterally one face he draws over and over again and probably the only stuff if he ever created.
Oh, the hypocritical plagiarist guy that twitter artists really fucking hate
What? Blade Runner is like the Citizen Kane of Sci-fi movies.
It's a fucking classic. Next you'll tell me people haven't seen the good, the bad and the ugly or Titanic.
The fact that he makes so much money from just redrawing things that already exist just reinforces my belief that non artists are really easy to impress.
Putting any of those movies in the same category as Titantic is laughable considering its hailed across the world. Fact is, Blad Runner is a kind of cult classic and loved by those with refined tastes. I tried showing BR to my friends and they all hated it. Thought it was boring.
That was for anatomy. You only need to open his gallery and you'll find many examples of perspective.
>has no good anatomy
>the head doesn't fit the body
The poster before said the anatomy was bad, and now you say it's taken from somewhere. Make up your minds.
Wow, it's like you're talking with different people here, buddy!
The anatomy in a traced illustration generally looks more or less wonky, because a photograph with three-dimensional depth and natural shading doesn't translate well into a 2D painting.
front positioned body, undetailed, lots of hidden stuff, one hand is hidden with the arms looking weirdly small, and the other is badly done.
It's really nothing special or impressive.
What? If it was a real proper style, then the face and hairs would looks well together, here it doesn't.
Someone posted the original source of at least a couple of those subway drawings before (flickr photo link) so at least some of those are just photo referenced, but I think that still takes some skill to translate things into a different style
doesn't change the fact that he is a plagiarizing asshole though.
Sorry to say this, but you need glasses.
Check up the definition of style.
>front positioned body, undetailed
Does it need to be detailed to look good? You can't draw front-positioned pics now because it makes them automatically shit? Don't be so stupid.
In that case, most of it is just a real photo with some effects added on it. But I tend to prefer the "good" Japanese artists to the "good" Western artists because there's typically more simplicity. By which I mean, just because you are artistically capable of drawing the reflections on every single button of a girl's jacket as she gets fucked in the ass doesn't mean it helps the image achieve its goal.
Okay. Remove the left arm. No check the torso position. it's totally fucked up. And yes, it should be more detailed, plenty of parts looks really flat. and the fact only the face is detailed makes it even weirder.
Don't give that shit to me. Only a dumb amateur can think that a picture is shit because it doesn't have a pretty background and 10000 lines inside of it.
>it's front-positioned, so it's bad
Pff, look who's talking about basic ed.
if you ask me it's probably a mixture of how popular he is compared to the level of effort he puts into his compositions. I don't think he deserves the popularity when he's essentially redrawing the body and then slapping his autistic trademark face onto it.
>getting paid because they do softcore porn
>too skilless and untallanted to actually do manga or anything of worth to the community so they're basically black holes for money
Kek. Americans really like wasting money.
you mean other artists? probably because he deceived others into thinking his works are original and not copied and that he shat on other copy artists in deviantart for copying, even though he copies himself. (I'm sure someone has a screenshot of that deleted crit message of his somewhere)
I mean I'm pretty sure no one would've gave a shit if he just said in the very beginning the majority of his works were copied.
That how could be called if he didn't only do that and got payed 70k per months just for doing them.
Her he just discretely take a pic, redraw it with his render and put his sameface.
What he does is essentially what someone does when they're doing studies. Plenty of artists do this. I think people are mad because he doesn't treat his "studies" the same way other people normally treat studies. That is, declaring it is a study, etc. But I don't know much about his behaviour online, so this is mostly an assumption. People typically don't get as asspained over artists who do nothing but studies as much as they get asspained over this guy, so it must be because he doesn't treat them as studies.
You do master studies to learn techniques or skills employed by the original artist to create the piece. These people that copy may have nice technique but who cares when they have no creativity.
Look at this perfect anatomy, man. That fucking anatomy, man, look at that hand, fucking look at it.
Why waste your time with creativity when technique is enough to feed you. Art is a business.
You can work 9 to 5 as a burger flipper and make creative art in your free time, or you could be like these guys and find a niche.
In this case it's copying shitty anime art and drawing it with a superior technique.
I salute them for playing one of the most retarded communities out there like a fiddle.
I can't believe I'm doing this for some artist I don't even know, but you're a fucking retard son. Learn what style means and then show up to teach us your "basic education".
>First of all, I need to say I NEVER trace photos or other people's works.
This guy needs help. mental help.
Thanks for confirming you know shit all about art. But don't mind me, keep eating that shit up.
>Blad Runner is a kind of cult classic and loved by those with refined tastes
Get the fuck out of here
It does not deserve the praise it gets. It was an ok movie
And the replicant that gave the hints to the bladerunner was far more interesting than him
Protagonist has no character aside that forced rape scene. Unless the characterization is supposed to be stale and inhuman to show how much of a replicant the characters were
People that are skilled work in the film/game/entertainment industry making the things everyone consumes, they don't flip burgers. This guy does well, but like you said it is a niche and even then most people who go into a career in art do so because they want to do something they like, if he likes producing derivative copies of work that is his prerogative but most others prefer to do original work. Look at pic related, he's mostly known for his fan art online but he does comic book covers and stuff like that.
>People that are skilled work in the film/game/entertainment industry
Speaking as someone who works in the game industry I can say that unfortunately, no, 3/4th of the artists working in the industry can't get on the slavs little finger even when they're copying shit.
That's why most companies that need shit drawn call up chinks nowadays. Western artists are shit and all you have to blame are your retarded art schools that teach jack shit.
Oh, watch out, the baby's going to throw a tantrum. You already made it perfectly clear how well you understand art, no need for further proof.
There are tonnes of places to develop practical illustration skills, even if fine art has gone off the deep end. Most people are turned off from it because of how intensive courses are or how much work it actually takes to become good enough to get work. You just never hear about good western artists because they are all locked up tight by their companies and little of their work gets seen in the public because of NDAs.
Let me just post some things off the top of my head:
>Pillars of Eternity
>Concept Artists: Kazunori Aruga, Polina Hristova
The game is 3D apart from that.
>Shadworun : Dragonfall
>Environment Art Lead : Jenn Tran
The game is 3D apart from the environments.
>Art : Jen Zee
>XCOM : EW
>Concept Artists : Piero Macgowan, Aaron Yamada-Hanff, Bryce Homick
So far out of the jobs that require art skills only a single Western name.
I could go on. Really in my 5 experience so far in the industry when "pencils and paints' are involved they start looking for a slav, a chink or whatever else. Very rarely a Westerner.
what do you think of this one?
